I love that the piercing mike feed back doesn't even faze Boz. He never missed a beat. This man is singing his heart out and you can " see" every breath he takes. Kudos for this post . The song is great, the performance is beyond great. What a marvelous musical journey Boz Scaggs has had. Im grateful he let us tag along. It's been quite a party!
Expo-'85 Worlds Fair in Japan was an awsome tour..last tour with Carlos Vega on drums and John Madrid on Trumpet..I feel so fortunate to be get the opportunity to play sax with some of the greatest musicians in the world..including Jeff,Mike, Steve Porcaro,Steve Lukather..before they formed TOTO..and that my solo tracks were picked for'JOJO'..thank you BOZ!!
The feel, the interesting chord progressions and brilliant arrangement. As a musician, I enjoy singing this song the most. It's a real feel good song.
"Georgia" on any other Boz Scaggs album would have been the first single and the best song, but being on Silk Degrees, Boz's BEST album, it's almost buried LOL. Boz recording with the guys from Toto and a few others made two records, Silk Degrees and Middle Man, that may never be equaled....
I love this song now as much as I did 33 years ago. It's my favorite song from a man who had nothing but excellent songs. And, well, it's just a bit sleazy ... or maybe more than a bit.
YES! You are right! It's "Christmas in your eyes". I've checked lyric sites and that's what's written. Relating the same feeling a child's eyes reflect when they know it's Christmas! This song is about a man who fell in love with a girl who was under-aged but she was a "real woman" for her age. He got busted because of his affair with her. This info on a Boz Scaggs site that gives little quips about what the songs were written about......I love it!
You got to give Boz the props on this one.. A younger version, he manages to belt out a virtual studio version LIVE in sub-zero weather! Half of today's artists don't have a smidge of talent compared to this guy. He is unbelievable. Thanks for the years, Boz!
what is so damn great about this vedio is the fact that it is so cold. Fingers, hands, and voices cannoy respond as crisp as Boz and his group. Fantastic.[
I saw two back vocal women shake with cold during songs and running to a stage side to get warmed between songs. I was a poor high school boy at age 16 with an worn ski-jacket handed me down from my dad. Because this live was held as a part of the opening cermeony of the Tsukuba Expo 85 it was free of charge. I led my dad to take me to the Expo in which I wasn't interested at all. No sooner had I entered the gate than I started off at a run to the place.
Boz is a better man than I am. When I was performing, I was booked in an outside concert. Snow on the ground, 24 degrees. I went on stage and it was so damn couldn' t sing because my teeth were chattering so much.Said thank you and left the stage. Boz you are so much more a better man than I was.
Incredible! Most album releases are so enhanced in the studio that the performer is almost unrecognizable "live". Boz sounds exactly like the album I wore out years ago in this live performance. I love his voice, Thanks for posting!
Saw him at the Greek back in '99. Unfortunately he did not include this song in his set. Too bad. It was one of my favorites from the Silk Degrees Album.
From personal expierence, when it s so cold that you can see your breath, it s hard as hell to play. Can t feel your fingers. See the backup singers , hands in pockets of their coats. Anyway. Good job Boz rules.
Try to find the song video of "You're Mine" on YouTube ... Boz does a fantastic job of it .... full of emotion.......and I love his intro. I sort of stumbled upon it. It's from his performance at the Budokan in '76
Northernsummergirl -- I'm posting the birthday information on as many YouTube sites as I can ... I'm sure Slim's mailbox will be deluged with birthday cards.... I drove by Slim's a few days ago..... They have a lot of live acts booked. Boz and his partners give young talented musicians a chance to perform for the public.
Hi Karen! I didn't stop in to Georgia for a whole week! Thanks for your comment to me.. thats awesome Boz and company give other musicians a place to share their talent. His music and presentation with others is always a delight to listen to. :)
northernsummergirl ------- Slim's is located at 333 11th Street, San Francisco, CA 93103-4314. Boz has a birthday coming up on June 8th. I think he would enjoy a greeting card.
Kelly and northernsummergirl..........I missed BOZ in New Mexico because of unforseen circumstances which came up suddenly........ BUT I will see him in a rew venues here........ Up in the Sierra Nevadas and then at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga, CA..... a stone's throw from where I live ... plus...... we are going to drive up to the Scaggs' Winery and see if they have a tasting room.. I drive by Slim's (Boz's night club) almost daily with my eyes peeled open.
Wow Karen, all this sounds fantastic! we never know when these unforeseen things will come up, but it sounds like you will be making up for it. I didn't know about the Scaggs Winery... very cool. That's in California? Have an awesome time!! Oh where is Slim's nightclub?
esta version en directo esta mejor que la de studio sobre todo el trabajo del pianista despues de decir boz ... giorgia.... - jeje - thanks to share a GREETING

Hey Karen and Kelly, it would be great if you both see Boz in May. You would think it would be sold it soon. The 9th is only a month away!! I am sure it will be super.... timeless is the word for this style of music.
I feel the same way DA90027. I can listen to Boz Scaggs all day and night too. His voice is distinctive and pleasant to listen to. I love his music... great band too!
The drummer was the great Carlos Vega ... also no longer with us ... he played a lot with Lee Ritenour ... He really had a groove and I'm glad to have this one ... thanks Hojirou!
for music aficionados - a nod to Hoagy Carmichael (a native of my hometown, Bloomington, Indiana) in the line "moonlight through the pines", from another famous song titled "Georgia". Jeff Porcaro was the drummer on the album, but there is no clear shot of a drummer in this clip. maybe Jeff, maybe not.
Absolutely wonderful! "Your daddy was high the night he dreamed up you"..."Christmas in your eyes".....great lyrics...great singer...super hot! I've seen him in concert at least 5 times over the years and I'm looking for more! Thanks for posting this!
I don't know how many people have thought about this but these groups are getting old and they're gonna run outta steam soon. Who's gonna replace them? The crap that calls its self Rock we hear now? And I've no doubt that the real talent has been given short schrift by record companies. I hope the internet breaks the back of the monopoly on music.
We're old getting old if we remember this!! LOL Those were the days, huh? Your right, not like this crap!! My sons are 20 and I got them loving all this old stuff!! So we gotta keep turning the young onto it all!! I even play LPS and they laugh at me!! LOL Oh well!!
thanks for posting. Dutch fan here. I intend to cross the Atlantic later this year tovisit one of his shows. Georgia is definately one of my favorite Boz Scaggs songs too.
