  • Why is your "effect" still on stereo under optical input? Should be DTS or Dolby Digital.

  • The best Thx system for that kind of money for sure!!! I love my z5500...

  • maybe your wire is broken.... form pc to system

  • it doesn't seem like a problem

  • when you disconnect the optical cable can u see any changes?

  • mine keeps turning off as if it has no power to it then starts again but i have to manually press the on button anyone know whats up?

  • Your controller is broken dude

  • What remote are u using? I need the code for the universal remote I just bought ..

  • @alfiferez is the universal remote logitech? if it is when you set it up you just type the model... z5500

  • My Z-5500 fuckin' rocks, only problem I had with it was that the center fell on the ground and broke so I had to buy a seperate second hand one, and now it's working flawlessly again!

  • hi, i have this speakers and Creative X-Fi Titanium PCI-E and i use the optical cable and works perfectly for me, in the first try, only problems, i discover this speakers only works in DTS if you sound card support it, and you have to configure the optical out in 44000hz, in the case of Creative F-Fi Titanium install the DTS Connect Pack and choose DTS decode option y the control panel.

Sorry my englsih is no good :(

  • What is The Best?

  • the Z5500 is sucks I already bought two and burned two and is the major problem of controller

  • i bought my speakers 4 years ago, and i never had any problems --- my plays better now then when they were new ; but that is because i took the time to play them in :)

  • Try resetting the system which is to hold down Input+settings in nstandby mode on the console.

I find these speakerrs brilliant BUT they often reset so that there is no volume on any of the 3 channels on startup.

  • un plug every thing

  • I had to replace my 5500 2 times, but Logitech has awesome support, the second time the display went dark... So they send my a completly new system without me having to return the old one. Now Ive got 2 haha :D

  • how long did u have them till fucked up

  • Its funny how I never saw any problem on the internet about z-5500 before I bought them. But now when I have them, I found so many people with diffrent prolems....

  • can someone help me out here, my subwoofer does not measure up to what it should do. it plays extremely weak. my old creative t6200's sub sound better, ive tried everything i can, help appericiated

  • ur batteries in ur remote r dead

  • how you fixed it?

  • Yup - try using the Z5500's remote instead of the garage one. Should work. Cheers.

  • hm, his voice really sounds like seth cohen in OC =D

  • maybe because you just f*cked up the remote.

i had them for years and they are still perfect with no defaults.

  • how did you fix it ?

  • to be clear to all noobs (excluding logisubs): The Z-5500 has 6 Inputs 3 3.5mm Jacks (Which work simultaneously or independant) 1 Optical Toslink Digital Slot (For FiberOptic Cables)(Full Digital) and 1 COAX Slot( Full Digital) The Z-5500 mess' up occasionally when used often. To Help keep from freezing: 1. Keep Subwoofer Heatsink Away from tight Spaces (Against Wall, Under Small Desk, ETC) 2. Keep Heatsink Cool (Ventilate) 3. Keep Wires Untangled 4. Airspray the Control P. Hope It Helps :)
  • use the normal imput te jack imput ,some time i have problem with volume wen i have de opical cable "soryy for my bad english" ;)

  • change the controll

  • Awesome system

  • the ligght on tha control module went off:(

  • I have the same and never had problem... just stopp fucking fuck it up.. lol

  • Hi as like most electrical appliances there is always a possiblity that there will be some problems, however as a strong supporter of the Logitiech Z-5500 speakers, it is worth knowing that these speakers come with a 24month warrranty, simply call up the Logitiech customer care hotline they will be only too happy to replace them just like they did my faulty set.

  • the only problem i have is the display light on the remote....wont light up so at night i can't tell wut setting its on..other than that it works great

  • In optical mode you need a special cable... optical cable.. i have it from my playstation 3 to my z-5500.. and it is working very vell! very nice and clean sound! about the remote.. you need to contact support.

  • i think my cable may be scratch, because i had them stored like anywhere in the house for a lot of time and the points weren't covered...

    Any idea of my problem?

  • Well i also have a bad bad problem with mine...

Almost all the times i connect a headset to the controller it freezes everything, i have to disconnect the speakers from the power plug for like 10 seconds...

still i dont know if it's only when using optics...

Also on my xbox 360 most of the games the sound doesnt come out from the central speaker when using optical, maybe it can be because of the optic cable.

Im using a old optic cable that come out with some creative digital speaker set...

  • does that tiny green fan beside the control pod works?

  • p.s - glad you got it sorted =]

  • This usually happens when an audio stream is not being decoded properly or isn't recognised by the unit due to incorrect settings in the program you are using, for example.

I had this happen a few times when I hadn't set up VLC/Media Player Classic properly (S/PDIF settings).

  • Dude, change the audio stream... don`t send other audio stream then dolby digital and dts. I try to send an wma pro audio stream and my system has done the same thing you say here.

  • Dude *Updates???

    2:Drivers???

    3:retreat!!!

  • well, mac sucks, in my opinion.

  • My blue light is down too. hey if use optical cable will my music sound better?

  • wich sort of cable coax cable or digital fiber cable

  • ok, I have a similar problem using the optical cable, my z5500 freezes and then shutsdown!!!. besides that if works and sounds awesome!!!. It never does it during gaming only when it plays you tube and flash programmes, but then I just turn it on and its fine. Also, I might add that the led display unit is hot as a motherfuker, I mean seriously concerning hot!!!. Any ideas?

  • first unplug it then make sure you pc is outputting max 24 bit @ 98000Hz thats the max sound it will work with then test it

  • The Z-5500 is only capable of 96/24

  • disconnect the cable from your computer and just test the system with out any input!

im looking for a awnser with mine my center speaker only work on 6ch direct and updating realtek drivers, dont seem to up date with me and if i put the sould to anther effect besides 6ch direct then no speakers work at all

i have a imput: direct sound on this nothing more

but sould you tell me how to fix this or install tealtek sound drivers on windows 7 Please n thank you

  • How did you fix it? I got the same problem. But i dont have a clue what to do, please help me, FAST??!

  • There are a lot of problems with the z-5500 .... anyway i got it since 5 months and the blue light is down lol.. i dont know what to do . i still love the system , it sounds amazing

  • You shuld leave it back to the store and telle them the problem maybe they will fix it or you get a new system ! :) sorry for bad eng ^^

  • it's the decode if you send unsupported audio from your optical cable z5500 will try to decode this slows the digital soundtouch control center your audio card sends unsupported sounds.. some times z5500 when is trying to decode these sounds can't display error message like uknown digital data or unsupported... try to change the Hz to 92/24 etc...

  • p0mg its da virus on it

  • Hi :)

It's been a while, but what was the 'fix' in the end?

  • i have no clue what "Optical Mode" means but if it doesen't work i bet you could take it back and exchange it

  • its a cable conection... its the plug on the back. just google optical cable and you will see..

  • they had these speakers up at gamestop.

  • Comment removed

  • You have blow the subwolfer fuse, Easy to fix only costs like $2. Happened to 2 of my mates with this system :)

  • Comment removed

  • Same thing for me. Notice there was no bass at all from the subwoofer. Went ahead and RMA'd it.

  • did you seriouesly open it up?

    **facepalm

  • the cable of digitalsoundtouch control center maybe have a problem i had the same problem...

  • try putting a small vent, like the pc cooler, on the console. i had the same problem and i solved that way. good luck!

  • It happened to me too! I asked Al Gore and he said that it was because of the global warming. He gave me a device which sucks up all the global warming into a bottle, you just plug it into the socket and suddenly the bottle is full of global warming and you have a room without global warming.

  • but, how come your control panel got fucked up??, Im just wondering.

How can i prevent my own Z-5500 control panel from getting seriously fucked up??.

    Please help me!!!!

  • I am going to by these very soon, but the Z-5500 seems to have to many issues.

I'm going to use it with my dvd player as a home cinema, will it ever fuck up???

Or is it just big problems when using it with a computer??? PLEASE HELP ME!

  • There shouldnt be any problems.

  • @logitechsubs but on computer it has probs?

  • Well.. i have had the z-5500 now in 3 months and i have never ever had anything problem with it. i have had some party home, and if you get bit drunk and stuff you turn it up very highXD so my stereo was on liek 80-90% all the night... and the day after it was just fine:) nothing happen to it. so i would say this is a very great pc system. you can turn it up to 100% volum and its a clear and nice voice. :)

  • Is the z-5500 a good product or not? Worth buying? I'm wondering to go with it..Does it do good for party's as well?

    -Thanks Kole

  • Yes, i would defently say so, z-5500 is a really good stereo, as party stereo and bass tests. Iv`e had it now for ca 3 months and its working amazing :) i have used it to party, wich means the volume i like 80-90% all the time and the speakers and bass is very clear and nice even at 80% volum :)and it`s still working amazing, so if you want powerful bass and high and clear noice you should buy it:)

  • No his system was outputing more than 24bit @ 98000 Hz thats the max if you go over the system can't prosess it

  • @fasciatus DONT BUY IT! CAUSE IT SUCKS REALLY BAD!!

  • @merijnwitje Ok, thanks bro, don't worry, I never bought it, I bought a dedicated home cinema system instead

  • @fasciatus Them i am happy :D

  • @fasciatus Wow... This was a year ago so you probably already bought it. But why? Why wouldn't you get a REAL system?

  • @americaneagle791

    What!!!!!

I NEVER BOUGHT the Z-5500, It's just too cheaply made for my taste.

Instead I bought a dedicated or REAL Home Theatre system from Pioneer.

    Cheers!!!

  • @fasciatus Good decision. I'm proud :)

    lol

  • @fasciatus lol Pioneer is not the top notch when it comes to audio.

  • @Xzun009 Yeah!!!

I figured that out 6 months ago... The amp lacked punch so i upgraded to something more expensive, yet so much better... YAMAHA

  • @fasciatus haha YAMAHA is great and expencive system Nice u got it;P

  • @fasciatus Mate best shuld be to get a real Surround system, not saying the z-5500 is bad but the sub overpower the sattelites so it wont sound 2 good to a home cinema

  • @fasciatus Mine has worked fine since may 2007. full DTS, the works..

  • Send it back and get a new one if u can...

The SoundTouch panel seems to be a bit buggish. Once when I turned the sound up it suddenly rose with 2 lines and the sound got really high.

  • @TheWhiteElf that's a feature, its even mentioned in the manual. (boost)

  • Eeh, ok? It hasn't happened again.

  • I think is your computer =)

  • hihihihihi

  • hey man i have the same problem with all my channel .. The control panel just stays in the DETECTING MODE.. can you please help me ?

    hvave a nice day :)

  • ok i don't know what the problems is, but 1 thing i gotta tell you that if the speakers have no sound , make sure that you have select "SPDIF Out" not Speakers/Headphones in "Control Panel >Sound" . i think :D

  • what was the problem?

  • i suggest playing around with your sound settings on your computer, you might have to set it so that the sound goes out through your optical cable and not through headphones or whatever else you were using

  • one of my sattellites (rear left) is sounding weird with intermittent fuzzing/crackling? can any1 help. this only shows on stereoX2 mode. obviously music mode doesnt use all 4. pls help

  • i have that with my X540 on xbox 360. i twisted the input wire a bit n it was gone. maybe that helped. i dunno if it works with Z5500. oy for the bored no lifers: YES I HAVE SURROUND SOUND 5.1 N NO Not Stereo on 360. cya

  • Chose input as Optical than Effects should be Digital. Otherwise chose different effects until you get all 5. I used to have this problem and now being able to fix this

  • to fix your problem stop playing in optical mode -_- ... digital is the way to go moron xD

  • optical is digital you n00b

  • lol ^^ pwnd

  • O GAWD I CAME

  • @LordNeb Digital via optical you noob

  • @bakerboy908

um that's what i wrote. gg.

  • lol fail

  • optical is digital.

  • okay i have the same problem. for the first few month it worked just fine. And al of a sudden the prblem showed up.

i have the system runing with a mac.

  • theres you problem, go get a real computer, then check out what this baby can do ;)

  • heey.. mine does it too when i use optical cable with my ps3.. but it is only duing it a long i am NOT playing music, or as long as there is no sound. But when i put on some music, i can turn up the volume - hope you have solved you problem (:

  • sometimes my z - 5500 freezes when its though optical... although i have mine plugged into my xbox 360 not my pc at the moment... although i'm not having any of the problems with the volume.

  • have you made sure that the optical signal going to the control center is okay, i.e test it in another device, MD player etc? could be your signal is corrupted by bad drivers on your system, therefore the optical decoder is locking up the control center. check see if the same thing happens when you disconnect the optical cable from the unit and keep it in optical mode. if it works okay, its a bad signal or optical cable.

    Source: had same issue. :)

  • Thanks, but it was just some setting on the sound card. Not really sure what it was because the computer was new at the time, i just had to default it.

  • Don't say that before you know the problem it was the soundcard dumbass"

  • wtf dude logitech is the best speakers ever made

  • for computers

  • how long it the cable from the sub to the system?

can you plug in red and white audio cable in the back of the system?

  • umm, these shit speakers do not need an optical cable, 3,5mm is enough for them..

  • No, not if you want them to decode Dolby Digital or DTS. For people who use on-board sound, the digital output is usually much louder than the analog.

  • @pinzponx

Yeah, hating on the speakers because "yours are so much better" just shows you do not know using optical cables improves sound, no matter what speaker.

  • ya

i wona know how its looks like and from ware to ware do i connect the cable?? :D

  • i wona know more about the optical cable and witch one do i use to my (z5500) if you have time to tell me

    and thx for the video

  • You want an audio fiber optic cable.

  • have u fixxd it?....my logitech was trippen out to i had to return it hahah

  • Yes, fixed it a while ago, right after i uploaded this vid XD. UI just had to reset.

  • do noe how many watts is it?

  • 505 rms 1010 peak

  • pretty loud den

  • oh ya hella loud!

  • i bet u crack u window huh hahah

  • lol if you leave it all on the max...

rofl my neighbors hate me cause they can completely hear the music/movies through the wall and in their house... ;D

  • Please, can you tell you tell how you've fixed it?

  • I resetted my sound card.

  • does the z5500 come with optical cable?

  • No, only 3 3.5mm cables.

  • you sound like adam sandler from happy gilmore

  • Haha, ill take that as a compliment :P I dont think I sound like this in my newer vids with my better cam.

  • Hi just to let you know it does that with my xbox 360 on optical it freezes and i have to switch it on and off did you find out why its doing this ? i loved to know

  • I just had to reset my sound card.

  • yeah i have to switch my xbox off and on agian it works its must be optical is hit and miss

  • maibe the problem come from you windows vista.

  • is a sound really needed? cant you just use onboard like with a 790i mobo

  • I am using onboard. I fixed the problem right after the video was posted XD.

  • i definitely think a sound is needed lol - especially seeing as these are speakers! jk.

  • is the x5500 posible to play on the laptop? bezause some of them speakers u need more holes in pc...and if u just put one so it plays but just 2 speakers and subwoo

  • Yes it is. The Z-5500 has prologic which can upmix 2 channel into 5 channel sound.

  • can anyone help me out here. i am going to get a z-5500 and an x-fi sound card but i want to make sure it fits my computer. does the x-fi need a specific motherboard or is it compatable to most boards? thnx alot.

  • atleast ure 1 swiches on mne is dead and i had it 10 days the z-2300 i think are better anyway so i am sendin it back

  • use direct Effect: 6CH Direct

  • Naw, it SUCKS in direct. I fixed it a while ago, just had to reset my sound card.

  • I have an x-fi pro, and in direct channel, sounds pretty good actually

  • i use mine with direct input and didn't have a problem yet, i use optical with my ps3, x360 ...some consoles...

  • get back to the store and get your money back ore something

  • maybe if you stop fuckin widda system u wont have dis problem !

  • How did i mess up my system? Anyways, its fixed now:P

  • mmmmiiiijjjjaaaaavvvvvvv :)

  • yo man! You have to buy a reciver with an optical hole or you have to buy a very good sound card for your computer! good luck!

  • Ok so how did you fix this because i have the same problem with mine and I can't fix it ,my pid is R726 and and system firmware v2.1.0

  • Hi, I just re-set my sound card settings and it worked.

  • Thanks! I'm thinking that too. Its a heavy device to carry!! (I live in the city).

I read that Logitech are aware of shielding issues and are willing to replace with the 'upgraded' user tested version.

  • Hi, you already have a newer version as your PID is greater than 700. I think this is just an isolated situation. To avoid further conflicts, I would suggest that you buy the system from another store. The PID you have, 732 is pretty old(made on the 32th week of 2007) just to avoid problems in the same batch.

  • Good advice!! Thanks.

What is the latest PID? What should I be looking for?

  • Not sure, but some people have had around 748?

  • I had mine R743 running on board currently but soon getting X-Fi.. im not sure if R743 is the latest but thats what i got now.

  • My PID: R732. My Z5500 is brand new. No inputs, all speakers connected. In ch6 mode. A very very loud buzz/humm comes out of the speakers!!!?

  • Seems like you have a dud. I would go back to the store to exchange them.

  • why dont you try it with coxial instead if you have it on your motherboard?

  • i bought a z5500 2 days ago, and they control center is buged :( it thinks ihave headphone plugged :/ (and i dont) so no sound comes out of the spèakers no matter what, :( stupid control center

  • i got same computer :p

  • Nice

  • Hi,My name is Victor!I think i have 3 solutions 1)Buy a new optical cable 2)Reinstal your Windows 3)Check your MotherBoard for erors .I have Z-5500 too, but mine works fin on Optical Cable ,you made a good choice ,I hope it helped!?!

  • Hi, thanks, I just had to reset to default:D
