  • I would find use in the on screen keyboard. When I text in class it wouldn't make any noise.

  • just one thing........im a Celtics fan -.-

  • you would probably look like an idiot using an on-screen keyboard on this phone.

  • verizon is actiolly really good. you can get service almost anywhere.

  • @TheRoss1357 About that unlimited data plan... *disappears*

  • i love keyboard tests because im just weird like that! yup thats me weird dancer

  • How is the phone on verizon? Because my dad ordered it for me and idk how it is on verizon..

  • Just got this phone today. And i fucking LOVE it. :D

  • I like this phone. I just got it today.

  • @XxXcaidXxX

the new palm pre2 and palm pixi2 is coming out in january, lol.

you shouldve waited a few more months

  • damn ! why dont they have this in south-east asia ? am still waiting . getting sick of seeing iphone everywhere

  • do you think you could do a video on the palm pre plus's keyboard?

  • pixi vs samsung intercept vs pre? which phone should i get?

  • does it have predictive text?

  • Hey jon4lakers.... any clue how to copy and paste phone numbers from either phone.book into sms message or from list of incoming calls. never got to fgr this out.

  • So torn, love my palm centro.. Does anybody know if this is just like the centro just smaller?? If so please let me know.

  • @Jordanbahn7 noooo. Completely different opperating system. Much much better then the centro which is also made of much worse materials.

  • @Jordanbahn7 Its not. The OS is completely different.

  • i tried this out instore too, even though it's so different from my current phone i was immedeately able to type almost perfectly. suprising!

  • When I used it at sprint it felt a little cheap even though its anything but. The blackberry curve keboard is actually really cheap but it doesnt always feel that way because of the size and how it fits in your hand. The pixis is just a little hollow feeling becuase it so light. And I actually agree an on screen keybaord would be cool.

  • does it have a predictive text utility?

  • i love your voice...

  • maaaanuel87 I agree. I dont see a point in having an onscreen keyboard either. I ordered my pixi from sprint today and it should be here in a few days Im so excited and I cant wait to get it! Very good video. thanks so much for uploading

  • I'm so geting this phone. Probably in a couple weeks. When contract is up. Yayyyy!!!

  • for the palm pixi, since it requires internet. and you don't want to pay for alot of money do you get charged if you use the internet, or not?

basically, if you don't use the internet, then does that mean you don't get charged?

  • @97awesomechick There's a specific plan for the internet. I'm sure most smart phones may have unlimited internet access for a certain price. :P

  • does this phone require internet??

  • All smartphones require internet.

  • @derox16 No, my Treo 650 and 755p did not REQUIRE internet. I used both phones for years with no data plan, no internet. Although I was told by sprint when I got this phone that it would require a data plan. But its WELL worth it. Theres so much to do with it, and its tons better than the Pre.

  • @320bit Well those were basically the first smart phones around, I'm sure there were others, but the internet on the first smartphones was too much for their software.. Ah whatever I agree. The Pixi is amazing I can't wait to get it! :)

  • wifi

  • @fuhh22 yeah you have to get a data plan of some kind

  • why would anyone want to use an onscreen keyboard on the pixi? i just dont see the advantages there

  • The text keyboard is a lot easier. My friend has the iPhone, and he says that sometimes his fingers keep hitting the letters next to the one he's pressing. So I go with the keyboard.

  • Being the iPhone-biased person this guy is, are you surprised he said that?

If the iPhone ever gets a physical keyboard he'll be saying any phones that still only have an on-screen keyboard are bad...

  • i think the pixi is a good phone they even say the phone is for smartphone beginners so if you have never used a smartphone and you want to try a smartphone and you are on the sprint network you should get this phone

  • which is better palm pixi or pre?

which palm phones are available for verizon?

  • Pixi is better!! and precentral just confirmed that palm pixi will be available for verizon!! hopefully the beginning of next year!!

  • it comes down to personal preference. if you prefer build quality over a bigger touchscreen then the pixi might be the right choice. for me the pixis screen seems to be a bit too small to be able to browse the web properly. my pre is only 1 week old so there have not been any hardware issues yet. keeping my fingers crossed for the future cause if it holds up it is definitely on par with the iphone and the droid for example

  • pre 100%

  • the pixi is kind of a kids device... is say that if it isnt an iphone...or if it isnt a droid phone ..then it isnt worth the hype...

P.S....Android is about to take over the smartphone world

  • hmm not before webOS hits verizon which will be soon ;)

  • Yeah...no. (:

    Sorry, but no....just...no.

Android, will NEVER be anything more than what pretentious idiots buy who want to seem "alternative".

  • I WANT ONE!!!!!!!!

  • PALM PRE IS OK hands on

  • needs to b bigger faster...and have wi fi...

  • had this phone i thought it sucked!!!

  • when did u get it

  • I own it, it's pretty amazing. :) Great Christmas gift!

  • would be much better with a slide out keyboard

  • If you want a slide out keyboard, get a pre. The pre and pixi aren't competitors. They are more like cousins. The Pixi is new, but the pre is still the definitive WebOs phone.

  • i wish this would come to ATT cause i would love to have a small device that has a good OS that is pretty and nice to use but i dont need a full blown smart phone cause i wouldnt use all the features but the qwerty would really gimme the perfect messaging device with a little extra umph. i have an ipod touch so i dont really want an iphone so i would rather this than the pre if it ever goes GSM

  • nice review i love this phone and i am getting it next week

  • wow 100 dollars i can no way afford that but i really want this!

  • its 25 at walmart

  • wow. i am so getting this then :P

  • I messed around with the keyboard at RadioShack. It wasn't a working model, so I couldn't see how well I typed, but I was amazed at how satisfying the typing experience was. The thin buttons don't hurt to press and they click wonderfully. Just wish the Pixi had WiFi!

  • solid keyboard review.

  • Onscreen keyboard on a screen that size? Unnecessary, especially given the good hardware keyboard.

  • POST CHECK VIDEO

  • its not very pretty..

  • "you kept saying pre instead of pixi" shutup. "credible" hahaha.

  • i played around with the keyboard of this phone the other day and even with my small hands i still find it very hard to text with just a thumb, u have to use ur nails to get the job done, the device is just way too small.

  • you kept saying pre instead of pixi

  • yeah what a fucking dumbass

  • this isnt the pre

  • yes "jon4lakers" kept saying Pre when he was supposed to say Pixi

  • Any demonstration who's reviewer uses the incorrect name when talking about the device is not at all credible...

  • pres are nice phones. fun and productive phones. sprint got some nice phones. too bad verizon wants to cash in on these pres too. give sprint a break here!

  • this is a test of My keyboard.

  • Wow, the comments here took a weird turn!

  • oh, Yes

  • Thats youtube

  • I agree. What the hell has "the sin of life" to do with this video?

  • hey john can you update us on android..i wanna find out more about the android 2.0 for the t-mobile g1.. and if there is ever going to be a g1 2 not the g2 another with keyboard for mac

  • @jon4lakers Is the keyboard able to register multiple keys at the same time like a keyboard on a multitouch screen?

  • this phone is very hot

  • this phone looks shit.

  • I really think there is no need for a onscreen keyboard on the pixi. it would be very nice on the pre, because you dont have to flip up every time you want to write something, but this is not the case with the pre. short: no slider -> no need for a onscreen keyboard.

  • when i can upgrade i want to get the pixi

  • So why did you watch the video if that is your view on phones??

  • I like phones, and I don't mean if you own one of these, even the best phone your going to hell. But some people put the phones in front of God, people are getting like obsessed with phones now b/c they have so many features.

  • really? your bringing jesus into this? maybe your the one who's a little obsessed....

  • so why the fk are u watching this?

you must be one sad person hu searches up video just to dis it.

    sad christian

  • LOL, live for YOURSELF, not for Jesus

  • OOOUH!!! UUUGLY!!!

  • WAY to small. But takes up WAY to much space.

    Crappy phone

  • that makes no sense

  • cool, a palm

  • Hmm, why does the phone look kinda "naked?" its empty!

Besides, maybe its just me, but i think almost all Palm devices are bad in appearance!!

  • yeah, they are really too simple in its looks!!!!!!

  • any one of you gonna check out the Nokia E72 ?

  • how do u get compaies 2 send u free stuff to review. and do they pay u 4 it

  • @pilotboy1201 You have to send them a letter and say what you are doing and how the company can make profit etc.

  • omg..?? a onscreen keyboard..??? why..?

50% of that phone is a keyboard

  • @PESHybrid he means instead of the real keyboard..

  • every touch phone has that plus like it really matters ppl might not like the lil buttons so they prefer to use the on screen

  • LOL! yeah i know.

  • That phone is a cheap piece of garbage....If this is palms best effort they're already dead then....both the palm & the pixi are a bust!

  • so true

  • You can install the patch to get an onscreen keyboard!!!

  • an on screen keyboard is not needed at all.

  • come on...an onscreen keyboard? haha that would be a little bit ridiculous.

  • yeah the screen is too small.

  • i dont belive the keyboard has its own sexuality....

  • 2:22 well you can't have everything jon

  • ahhahahaha

  • i'm jon rettinger.

    you stay classy san diego

  • XD i'm jon retinger go fuck yourselves san diego XD

  • That looks like an AMAZING keyboard. How would you say it compares to a BlackBerry keyboard?

If only the Pre were that thin and had that keyboard...

  • To much space between the screen and the keyboard

  • thats the gesture bar or something, it does something... like a touch pad or whatever

  • Really? Thats Interesting.

  • what do you do for a living?

i make little videos on how shit works

    ahahaa

  • wow even though its small its awesome because the keys are plastic and domed much like the sidekick 3 which is the best qwerty keyboard ever

  • I dont think an onscreen keyboard would do this phone any good seeing as the screen is very small that or they would have to include a stylus and even that is played out, as for the design its to basic theres really nothing going on for the front it actually looks like a prototype of an unfinished phone.

  • the click is bad for txting in class

  • use the 1 on the screen

  • there is no 1 on the screen 2:22

  • Best Buy is going to be selling the Palm Pre for $79 on Black Friday.

  • That is only In the us.

  • Well, the U.S. is the only place that has Black Friday.

  • Meh. I still prefer the iPhone, but I have to say I have been thinking about trading it in for a different phone and getting and iPod Touch.

  • @MAXinnovate

i wouldn't. I have the ipod touch and it's missing TONS AND TONS of the features that the iphone has...even in SOFTWARE. Not only is it missing loads of hardware from the iphone like the camera, mic, etc. It even lacks some of the easy things that don't require those in the software...as you can tell I'm quite frustrated lol..

  • I got rid of my iPhone 3G this past saturday because the monthly bills were too expensive. I was thinking about getting the Pre but I got the Hero and an iPod Touch instead.

I can say that I do not regret that decision at all. I'm saving $65 a month(by being added back to my family's plan), I have a better camera than the 3GS, I have Sprint Navigation(which is quite good) , and I have access to both the Android Market and the App Store.

  • yeah I guess that sounds good, i definitely agree. The iPhone's plans are at the most absolutely ridiculous prices.

  • That's what i did and I don't regret it at all.

  • i really think an on screen keyboard would not work on the pixi at least landscape wise

  • those keys look soo small.

  • exactly, 3rd party apps. load of crap.

  • so what theres 100 thousand apps

  • IMHO I think palm makes some of the best qwerty keyboards out there. Even on the small centro keyboard (same as these keyboards only smaller) I actually type faster on it than most other keyboards I've used, and I have pretty big thumbs, it is definitely something anyone could get used to.

  • It looks like JUNK!!!!

  • look exactly like the Samsung Link =p

  • its a little too simple

  • Its kinda ugly...idk im just an iphone guy.

  • Are you kidding me about an on screen keyboard?! that would be just the silliest thing ever. First of all the screen is so small that the keyboard would take up most of the room. Secondly it would look pretty silly to an on screen keyboard pop up right over the hardware keyboard. I could see the usefulness of it for the palm pre where you don't want to slide it up but for something of this form factor it's, sorry to say, a pretty stupid idea. IMHO

  • LOL you keep saying Pre when you mean to say Pixi

  • it looks like they could have enlarge the keyboard downwards and to each side slightly. Not upwards of course because that's where the touch sensitive area is. But my point is that it seems like it could have made to be larger. IMHO

  • i was thinking the same thing. the space bar could of been bigger perhaps?

  • haha that keyboard sux! ipHone4ev3r

  • I don't want to take two and half minutes to types what I am typing on an iPhone. That is why I chose DROID.

  • You know you gotta be careful what you say since you have videos of yourself posted on YouTube.

  • You, sir, are an idiot. You are probably the only one on this video comment area that is showing mindless hostility over an opinion someone has.

  • umm im not showing any hostility to your opinion your just a retard and thats really what it comes down to and if u thnk the the only one that is hostile on this comment list my point is proven

  • You're calling me a retard over a phone and the opinion I have about it. Grow up dude.

  • well u are retarded so it fits and as far as growing up im more mature than u will ever be

  • I've been eye-ing this phone. It's really cool that your reviewing it so I can fully decide.

  • I always enjoy these nice little short reviews. Keep them coming Jon!

  • is that intro really necessary in every video?

  • why do people say full qwerty keyboard? is there such thing as a half qwerty keyboard?

  • Maybe half qwerty is a number pad but instead of it being in alphabetical order, it's in qwerty order.

I haven't seen one, just guessing.

  • O_O woah. i was just joking. anyways, it is very wierd typing qwerty.

  • Not half as such but more like a compramised qwerty keyboard. Take the blackbery for instance that has two letters on each key rather than one letter on an indavidual key. :)

  • There could be a keyboard set up QWERTY style but have two letters on one key. Some Blackberrys do this.

  • cool

  • the phone looks nice

  • i want this phone!!

  • "so if you're looking to pick up the pre" :O

2:12 This looks like a job for; ANNOTATIONS

  • You commented "35 seconds ago," and by the time I got to 2:12 it was already fixed. Jon is good! lol

  • Haha, i know he's amazing xD

  • Nice video.

  • The Palm Pixi is a very slim and small device. Though with the lack of wifi, on screen qwerty board (not that big of a deal), and the smaller processor brought this phone down in my opinion. The Web OS looks great, but with the lack due to the processor it made me a bit reluctant on getting it. (I'm not getting it, but my thought of getting it was lowered) I just feel that the processor should have been on par with the Palm Pre or maybe even better.

  • If they put a on-screen keyboard on the Pixi there would be no room on the screen

  • This is way better then the Pre, it's a shame it isn't as powerful CPU and GPU wise. Still if it's priced right it should help to get a few RIM, Iphone and Android sales.

  • Why would a phone need a strong GPU lol? As long as it can sustain the GUI it doesn't need a strong GPU...its a phone lol.

  • Simple, iPhone, app store, games? Enough said. Palm and everyone else are basically missing a huge trick, most people buy games for the iPhone, it uses the same hardware as the Pre! So there is no reason for the Pre to not play the same quality of games. Also the lack of WiFi is criminal, what smart phone today has no WiFi??

  • its a pixi not a pre lol

  • u sed pre at the ending its the pixi!

  • it looks too plain...

  • you have called the pixi the pre like 10 times in both videos so far.

  • You keep saying Pre when this is the Pixi, ahaha.

  • AWESOME! Thanks!
