  • Yeah I'd second what H20RIDER said. I've been playing about 7 years now and I've never looked at power chords. I've never been much of metal player, usually more blues and jazz. It's interesting easily you can knock up something really metally in seconds. A really useful addition to anyone repetoir. I can see me having some good fun with this stuff.

  • Funny watching a blues man chug the dropped D lol. Rock on John.

  • all of this stuff is very accurate, my guitar teacher teaches me similar exersises!

  • "what ever" Haha! That was pretty funny. Now there are some fat sounds!

  • Awesome awesome lesson it just spurred me to jam for like two hours now im back.

  • Though I'm not a big user or fan of power chords, I found this series of 9 videos very thorough and interesting. After watching, I'm more likely to incorporate them (limited) in my playing. Thanks for these and all the other videos, John.

  • Drop G to an F#, B to an A and the high E to a D, and you have the full E chord structure in one finger. Great for slide blues playing.

  • I see, the traditional tuning is in 4ths, then you just make it a 5th. Nice.

  • Great Lesson

  • drop d.. you should've played she builds quick machines or slither by velvet revolver to demonstrate how cool drop d can be. unles you have those crappy sync rights
