According to this video, Rick should be around 49, somehow this message was not able to reach out to one public school district to do the right thing for a disabled teenager.

The only fight we have is with people who don't understand (the dislikes here are proof of it). It's unbelievable the gift we have all been given and the things that can be accomplished with the right mind set. I wouldn’t want life to be any different.

He had proven his public school district was wrong about his intellectual abilities. He went on to learned to drive a power wheelchair when everyone didn't think he can see, hear, or do anything.

If you research their story you find that Dick was not active before doing a race with Rick, and Rick's reaction "... it feels like I'm not handicapped", turned both their lives - and his own health - around.
