  • Great voice, great pronunciation, great style :) Many compliments from Italy ;) Brava

  • Her voice is beautiful. but the piano ruins it a bit.

  • A very free version... I like it anyway.

  • hate the piano, or maybe it's because the guy plays it like an harpschord

  • it is rude

  • I love her singing, but I don't like her interpretation of the song.

  • che bella!brava sta qui!

  • Beautiful voice, I don't frequently hear a voice as profound and broad coming from asian singers. It may have something to do with the language, like Russians producing plenty of Basses, and Latinos/Latinas producing fantastic Tenors predominantly, but I'm always thrilled to hear a full bodied asian voice :D

  • Well, she's got a nice voice, but it's doesn't sound relaxed and "free" like Hayley Westenra's, if you know what I mean.

  • @HayleyDeeWestenraCW Think of what the words "lascia ch'io pianga" etc. actually mean. Relaxed and free isn't quite what is called for here, unless you want a disconnected performance that is just pretty noise.

  • That's the song that was played in the film "Antichrist"!

  • @EnLugal and it fits the scene very well.not by lyrics tough.

  • @EnLugal as far as i remember they didn't play the "song" there, only the Sarabande by Haendel.

  • @jazzgot101 You're right, but it's the same melody.

  • @EnLugal Also in Farinelli

  • @EnLugal

Katherine Jenkins is the the interpreter who sings in "Antichrist" and I think it a wonderful interpretation

  • Yave is awesome, different races great voices all over the world;

this lady sings muito bonito e diferente.

  • Amazing

браво!

  • bellissima!!!

  • Piano and vocal too fragmented...

She sings perfectly correct, and has a great voice, but I can't hear "the soul" in her singing...

  • @Rosendrache I'm agree with you.

  • This is just... amazing. So powerful and beautiful...

  • <3 :)

  • A wow.

But I still prefere Cecelia when she was young, she has-had more emotion in here voice then this technical wonder.

Maki Mori is the new great one, that is true.

  • Is it bad that I can sing this perfectly as a boy with falsetto?

  • trop cool j'adore!

  • @ShanShanXiao I believe its B minor

  • I really like her voice, but she sounds so... content...? Isn't the song supposed to be all about pain and suffering?

  • Perfection!

  • unica...

  • Can anyone tell me what key this is in? Thank you

  • My god. Most beautiful. I am doubly in love

  • she sounds like a cat, this song is not for her.

  • @MyGretta She is good but she is not the best.

Something is missing, some tension, sense of tragedy.

  • BRAVISSIMA..... ECCELLENTE ESECUZIONE

    BRAVA!!!

  • *wiping the tears from my eyes* beautiful

  • she truly sings like an angel!

  • @manolobraun &looks like one too

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • iike this good relax

  • please someone can can traslate this into spanish or english? plaeeeeeeeseeeee!

  • @MrDarknesslover Let me weep over my cruel fate, And that I long for freedom! And that I long, and that I long for freedom! Let me weep over my cruel fate, And that I long for freedom! The duel infringes these images of my sufferings I pray for mercy. for my sufferances. I pray for mercy. Let me weep over my cruel fate, And that I long for freedom! And that I long, and that I long for freedom! Let me weep over my cruel fate, And that I long for freedom
  • Brava.

A nice interpretation from a nice and talented singer.

  • love it. great interpretation

  • Such a beautiful, angelic voice. Lovely rendition.

  • Beautiful!!

  • this singer is totally underrated, with that voice and technique she should go far..

  • Realmente hermoso!!!! ♥♥♥ ...

  • She fucked up the cruda sorte part.... Emotion waaaaaaaaaaaaay too overrated.

  • not quite . . .

  • This is perfection caught on tape, I believe it is.

I'm in love with both the woman singing and the song. Indeed.

  • god give talent why? she make it!!

  • beautiful, she has great talent, one of the best for me!.

  • very nice! wow. she is highly under rated

  • One might expect more artists to take rhythmic liberties with such a well-traveled piece. Very nice. Great confidence.

  • HELP-Question on text: my copy has very different text- for example mine doesn't say "mia cruda sorte" it says "la dura sorte" and in part B it has "si" after the first "sol per pieta, si" . someone already mentioned issues with the beat on "liberta" and the rhythm in general is a bit different. I am not critisizing but I am singing this for a course taught by specialists of Baroque music and "dance", and I would be terribly embarrassed if my copy has the wrong words! beautiful voice though!

  • @Shaiandshira

    "I am not critisizing...." lol

And you expect to prepare for your specialist course by asking help on Youtube?

  • @Zeitgeiste i really wasn't critisizing. and obviously the text I had was wrong but just 2 words off. What's wrong with asking advice on youtube? I was only asking about 2 words not total preparation. A lot of people here at least do a good job pretending to know what they are talking about so Why not use these videos for learning?

  • @Shaiandshira Hi! it is better to use "cruda sorte" besause you can put lots of anguish in the word "cruda", and because the bigest part of liryc singers do as so and are the original words.

About the matter to sing "si"(afirmatif meaning), you are free to use it , if you are able to mix the "i+e", not open "si " not dark " se". If not , better to sing it "a" , light and round as you do in "lascia"., " pianga" " franga" "pietá" . You will sound very Baroque. Pertinents doubts indeed.Try!

  • @liriango I remember studying this song with my voice teacher and the lyrics were 'dura sorte' as well. Perhaps there are two versions?

  • Comment removed

  • Just two words: absolutely amazing !!

  • Brava and beautiful too!! Compliments!

  • proprio bella!

  • Won't you hate the noises in the middle of the song? She's got a very beautiful & clear voice. Somehow her voice reminds me of an orthodox violin playing. Very nice.

  • PLEASE tell me in which key is this song originally written???

  • PLEASE tell me in which key is this song originally written???

  • oh my dear!

  • Arigato gozai mas~! 감사합니다 ~! merci beaucoup~!

  • i'm in love of her voice!

  • Una vera interprete.Appassionata!

  • My speakers are struggling with this ..... It's better now with my headphones on ;) Probably not the best , but it's a quite admirable and it's up there !!

  • Very nice voice and talent! Too bad there clearly is a poor understanding of baroque rethorical delivery and communication of the affects. People should investigate the meaning of "cruda sorte" , "sospiri", and "lascia" more profoundly before performing this amazing aria. Also, going for lots of embellishments in the ritornello doesn't really make you a baroque singer, particularly if those graces contradict the affect of those words. The piano doesn't help of course. But amazing singing indeed!

  • @daniluzzu: Well she does show a lot of ornamentation, the basis of the baroque period, its architecture, art, and music. Why would you investigate just the words you mentioned instead of taking the meaning of the aria in whole. Almirena is a prisoner crying/weeping/lamenting her cruel fate and sighing/longing for freedom/liberty. I would think one would want to understand the opera/character and then apply the barogue ornamentations/embellishments. This singer is good but not my Almirena.

  • @daniluzzu : It's not "too bad." There are plenty of informed performances to choose from. This is clearly a modern interpretation of a pretty popular aria.

  • wonderfoul - the piano is a detail

  • wow.

  • good job, nice the pronunciation too!

  • A very beautiful rendition. I thoroughly enjoyed it!!!!

  • The soundtrack of Lars von Triers "Antichrist"

  • Big respect, perfectly provided.

  • I like how she is accenting CRUDA to make it more horrible and hearfellt.

  • gah, maki mori is sooo hot

  • She sounds good, but she sings the ending phrasing "la libertà" consistently wrong.

  • @WintonYuichiroWhite I noticed that, too-it's been bugging me the whole time lol. It's sad because if she fixed that it would pretty much be perfect...

  • @WintonYuichiroWhite Just out of curiousity, how would you have her sing it instead?

  • @andge1001 The "ber-" in "berta" should be on the 3rd beat. That's what's written in the music. Not the 2nd beat like she does.

  • very good, very good

  • @RALFGOLLMITZER ... this comment is completely not about me or my "lack of love"... Handel deserves some respect... and also the artists who are informed and documented about baroque performance.

Nothing personal, and not rude at all.

  • she's really cute though^.^

  • she sings awsomly... alot better than wat its gonna sound like when i proform it for my skool :/

    egh...

  • A microphone??? Also the sync is not consistent. A little study of music reading could be of help, too.

  • @mezzoanghy: all you need is love - don't be rude

  • Such a touching melody.... It was performed in the movie "Farinelli" so beautiful...

  • pfffffff.... she knows nothing of the style of this aria...

  • @mezzoanghy i actually agree:/

  • Lovely! She is a great talent. "Music really does make the world a better place."

  • @jbrahms1833 PLEASE tell me in which key is this song originally written???

  • @jbrahms1833 PLEASE tell me in which key is this song originally written???

  • @Opera7Star i believe it's originally written in Eb.. but i'm not 100% sure

  • @KristinJ09 thanks :))

  • Amazing!!! One of the best version...

  • Bravissima!

  • Julianne Baird does the definitive version of this song!

Merci Adela2306 de Serbie.

  • Absolutely perfect! One of the bests ever listened.

  • wtf 10 000+ views TWENTY-FIVE RATINGS SIX COMMENTS!

  • Excellente! Bravissima! But I have just one slight quibble. The accent on "liberta" is on the first syllable and that is where the trilling notes should be held. She accented the second syllable and held the longer notes there. Otherwise, her enunciation of all the other Italian words were precise.

  • Magnifique!

  • I just listened to this wonderful singer sing this whole opera live in Edinburgh - concert performance and was blown away with her performance - piano in this video is not so good -if you love music u need to see this singer live so much!

  • Fantastic!!!! the best

  • Wonderful voice!
