  • lmao at the fall on the stairs. He was a legend! love all of his work muchly! :)

  • And I believe that porn started when Playboy publish its magazine. Nowadays, all is about sex. It's hard to find one of millions films as good as the old time. Charlie Chaplin is a legend.

  • @ttvpro007 Actually, porn started in that era as well. Porn has always been around!

  • Chaplin was such a great clown - clever rather than funny - and, according to eye witness accounts, not as likeable as Stan Laurel when they were both with Fred Karno and when Laurel was acclaimed as a funny man. What surprised me most about Chaplin was hearing his voice for the first time which somehow did not fit with his screen character and sounded very bland. No wonder he was in awe of Groucho.

  • these old movies are totally pathetic

  • i bet this is coming from a 7 year old like you on youtube

  • @coolGergesz WHAT!!!?? You don´t even have an idea of what you are saying!...

This is almost 100 years old! it is a piece of art!, maybe is not one of the Chaplin´s best films ever, but you can not say that is pathetic. With that you only proof that you know nothing about movies and ALL the WORK that you have to do -in this days- for a 1 min scene! Just imagine 100 years ago .....

But Charlie FTW, Rest in Peace

  • @ThatRandomBeatle rest in peace? I love the guy too but I think the mourning period for his death has been over for decades.

  • @redhairmarimo I don't find it inappropriate or silly, just a way of saying, "Hey there Fella, you certainly were grand, and I wish you could have seen how folks these days admire you and what you did with your days." I say it often to those long gone...

    RIP Shakespeare... you see?

  • Charlie Chaplin ..gosh it's been so long I loved these <3 thanks for posting =]

  • i love it!

  • 05:11 ouch that must have hurt even doing it on purpose

  • He is absolutely brilliant! It's incredible what they were able to do back then. SIR CHARLES SPENCER CHAPLIN IS THE BEST AT EVERYTHING HE DID! No one compares. NO ONE!

  • I TOTALLY AGREE WHIT YOU !

  • Luckily, his films can now live forever through the miracle of teh internets.

  • How the hell was it possible to make movies back then? I heard that in 1927, they just started to make movies with sound! And this has sound?????????

  • Before 1927 films were shown with a live orchestra that porvided music to accompany the films. It wasn't until the "talkie" movies started in the 1930s that there was a concept of the film "soundtrack", instead theateres would provide whatever music they deemed appropriate. The soundtrack in this film most likely appropriates the music that would have accompanied the film.

  • I was wondering, if they had the technology to have audible dialogue in the film, why didn't they use it more? You seem to know a lot about this stuff.

  • This film specifically was made long before the invention of sound technology. Honestly, when sound first broke through in films most filmakers didn't know what to do with it. In many cases they used it to provide background music or have dialogue in musical numbers and use the dialogue cards for the rest of the film. It wasn't until Fritz Lang's film "M" that they were beginning to realize the cinematic potential of sound.

  • i think the talking audio was put in way after the film came out

  • The soundtrack is a few tunes by Jelly Roll Morton, a jazz/blues artist who was popular back in the 1920s. So technically, this music is anachronistic, but it fits okay anyhow.

The first film to have synchronized sound was actually made by Edison in 1894, but it wasn't until the late 1910s and early 1920s that sound-on-film experiments were successful and marketable. It took "The Jazz Singer" in 1927 to convince the Hollywood moguls that the switch from silent to sound was worth it.

  • haha, very classic!

  • LOL!!!!!!!:3

  • does anyone have that prehistoric Chaplin's short film? i can't find it on youtube?

  • that's cannonball adderly?

  • Chaplin Rules hes the most funnyest MOvie Man EvER My Favrote Chaplin Film is The Kid (1921)

  • Even in this old film, blurry and distorted with age, the natural genius of Chaplin shines through. It's just a shame that the music doesn't suit it. I hate it when people just slap on any old tune over the film; the audio needs to complement the visual. They could have at least provided a soundtrack without shouting people in it. Quite frankly, it spoils this otherwise superb Chaplin clip.

  • Like Marceu, it says a million things without a single word. Chaplin it's one of the greatest. I think it's impossible (and SERIOUSLY) to replace him. In fact, it's USELESS, IMPOSSIBLE, to replace him. Because he's unique on what he did.
