The purpose of UFO is to battle the totally awful oil patterns they have in Taiwan. If the traditional roll competed against UFO in Taiwan, UFO would probably win. But, when UFO is used in more humane lane conditions outside of Taiwan, traditional roll will beat UFO each and every time. On a right-handed strike shot, traditional roll hits only the 1-3-5-9 pins. But in UFO, the ball hits many more pins because the ball in UFO is 10 pounds or lighter. My wrist hurts just watching UFO!

That is IF you MESS IT UP. If you do the real technique.. Trust me I used to wrong one and and didn't feel the strain till I used  14lbs and that I was inform I also had to use my elbow. And I didn't feel a thing at my wrist and now I'm using a heavy 12.

Man I have to give this style a try! I just got a real ball the other day and I've gotten so used to spinning plastic balls that whenever I try to bowl even at the farthest dot, I always get lefty strikes at the best.

Everybody, this is NOT the wrong way to bowl. It's just a different way to bowl. It uses ball deflections to push the pins into each other. It's much more consistent on different lanes than a hook, and lets the user strike enough to compete with a hook. My personal best with this style is 270(6 strikes, slipped and guttered, picked up the spare, and struk out) and a average 5 strikes a game. So please stop disrespecting the spinner style.

a very inaccurate and difficult way of bowling. although i have seen it used with a TON of lift on a low reactant ball, its not very common, due to its difficulty and the strain extended on the wrist and arm. not recommended... learn to get behind the ball if you want to bowl. easier and more effective

But from what i know this way of bowling was first called helicopter...it was actually started by some pba bowlers who had an injury and he somehowcame up with this technique. now i don't know if it started with the chinese or with this guy...forgot his name...hehe
