I have been lucky enough to see all of the great musicals in london.
This is way up there. Wonderfully written , great story, brilliant songs the musical goes through the whole range of emotions. Typically Ray Davies. The anger , aggression, sensitivity humour sadness the whole lot. A truly wonderful understanding of the people and the time. " A better thing" must be one of the greatest love songs ever written .If only we could see it again.
Ray is incredibly multi-talented! He's done catchy songs, top notch lyrics, classical music, musicals, writing, directing, acting, producing his own records. Seriously, is there anything this guy cant do? If so I've yet to find it. Genius! I've yet to see Paul McCartney do all those things!
Whats on Stage Theatre awards will be announced later today, let's all wish Ray and Come Dancing the best of luck!!! Winning could mean a new life for this amazing musicial on London's West end and here in NYC too!
Just finished a 2 month run in London at the Stratford east theatre BUT it might be coming to the US, NYC next year. DONT MISS IT IF IT DOES! It's absolutley an amazing experience. And you don;t have to be a Kinks or Ray Fan to love and appreciate this wonderful musical! It stands up on its own all by itself.
Every time I watch this clip it just makes me want it to come to the US even more. And I already flew over from the US and saw it 5 times! God save Ray Davies and Come Dancing and let's hope it Comes to NYC on Broadway where it Belongs!
Saw this yesurday and just loved it! Tosher/Marcus Ellard was my personal favorite- his family must be very proud of him. Great vocals and performance!
Would love to see this live but being on the west coast of the USA with no cash like that to spare I'd gladly settle for the DVD or even a cd. How about it Ray?
Yes, my partner, a toughie with typical British stiff upper-lip , admitting to weeping near the end. Like everything written by RDD, this can make you move from tears to laughter within a few minutes.
I recommend everybody to see this Ray Davies musical , it's really fantastic and many great new songs .I've seen this musical on oct.25th and it worth every penny .
We have seen it twice and hugely enjoyed this fun, frantic, slightly-shabby-round-the-edges-but-that's-it's-charm show which unlike so many tear-jerking musicals is genuinely moving. The cast give 100% and Ray makes a wonderful narrator.
A lovely, rocking elergy to lost times and people.
Not only was the night at the theatre watching Come Dancing a delight, the play's ending brought a tear to our eyes and then to top that all off we ran into Ray in front of the theatre after the show where we chatted for a few seconds. A great show!!
Yes there is a very good chance this amazing musical will come to NYC. Let's all do what ever we can to help and support Ray with this very important project !
We flew out from California to see the show and ended up seeing it three times, once from the stage, once down front and then from the top balcony. Each location was a great experience and I implore anyone who has not seen it to get out and do so. Rob (& Lloyd)
I would encourage you all to see this great musical in its last two weeks here in London. It's a fantastic evening and of course great to see RDD on the stage
Actually I like the music a lot. The songs were varied and the band and all the singers including Ray (!!!) sound terrific. Ray is still a good looking old codger. It has been quite well received in London. People have written nice things about it, even people who arent bona fide RD fans...i.e. relatives of fans, husbands and wives and childen of fans, have thoroughly enjoyed it. I wish it would come to NYC! Any chance, Rayola?
I can't imagine after watching this video not wanting to see the show. Even me who made the trip from the US to London and saw it several times wants to see it again after watching this. Let;s hope there is some justice in the world and this play moves on to the West End and eventually NYC and Broadway. It is that Good! - Frank Lima
I hope someone smart enough with the financial backing can helpt the curtain rise on this show again, it is too good to let die and be forgot about!
