@crb999 An amazing idea, and I wish there was one, but it would be too complicated. Obviously people know generally which house they should belong to. Putting the sorting hat in the park would cause people to see it as fraud, only because the sorting would be completely random. In other words, I'm the worlds biggest scardy cat, so I know I wouldn't be in Gryffindor house; but obviously the hat doesn't. I think they didn't include it because too much negative feedback could come from it.
