  • MereMessenger how can you say something like that? Thats just like saying If there is a god then let me see his power. It's not about seeing it's about having faith and trusting in God.

  • Thomas S. Monson prophet, seer, and revelator...or maybe just president?

  • Prophet, Seer, and Revelator--you got it right the first time. He is also the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

  • The gift of translation and prophesying seems to be amiss as was with Gordon B. Hinckley. I have yet to see either of these gifts in action.

  • If the Lord has nothing to be translated, why would a prophet translate?

  • When the Joseph Smith papyri was found president David O. McKay did not even try to translate it, because he held no supernatural power while in office. He should have been able to translate it easily if he held the gift of translation. Would have been a great time to show the world the power within him.

  • It had already been translated, no need to repeat.

  • @MereMessenger You are under the impression that a Prophet must prove to others his powers. Why do you think so? It is not his duty to prove anything to the people, but to do the Lords will as the Lord would have it done. President McKay, as well as every Prophet of the Lords Church, have the keys to lead those who believe in Christ to return to him live with their father after this mortal existence has ended. I have an unwavering faith in Tomas S. Monson and love him dearly.

  • do you think he lifted the lid in the h of h and powered up the u and t with the seer stone?

is it some kind of transmitter or receiver or what?

does that make his election made sure?

  • what prophercies have come true from this man?

  • Thomas S. Monson is a true living prophet and leads the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

  • "The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it. (Luke 16:16)

  • I never see this video, thanks for sharing, viva lds lol!

  • If it was our decision on the issue of freedom that granted us this chance of having a body, and if satin is still in the fight against freedom, then be forwarned, for today as we loose our freedom, if you are found doing nothing in the fight for freedom, then you are on the wrong side of freedom, for satin wants you to do nothing. Sing songs of priase, attend your church mtgs, while we loose our freedoms, this is satins banner!!

Elder Pres. Monson, what side of freedom are you on?

  • Good job! I like this! I'm mormon! How old are you? You know what's neat? I've been able to go to General Conference at the Conference Center when Gordon B. Hinkley was still prophet! Cool, right!?

  • where are my comments?

  • Not to bring division, but i have read some things in the book of revelations, these things relate to many churches, & believe it should relate to this church as well.

  • i don't really believe in following prophets, because Jesus is "as" our high priest. It is good to have order in a chruch. It is also good to pray for the leaders among you, but i think Jesus would say to guadge that one with your intellect.

  • the prophet is not acting as high priest, he is the prophet, something that has been throughout the beginning of time and will be tell the end of the earth, it didnt stop just because jesus came, hes not going to leave us without a prophet, something to think about when did jesus ever state there was no need for a prophet anymore?

  • o.k., but when did he say that there was need for one , & He did say to follow the Holy Comfortor, that He would teach us all things?

  • There's always been a need for one, ever since the days of Adam. There will always be a prophet as long as the people are worthy, and sometimes, even when they aren't. The apostacy of the orignal church happened because of sin and corruption. Also, Joseph Smith restored the church to it's fullness in preparation for Jesus's return to the earth. "It's fullness" meaning, the way that Christ first established it, with apostles and preisthood authority.

  • follow the prophet follow the prophet!! i think your a great example by preaching the gospel on the internet. awesome!!

  • Was he promoted to the President? Thru that promotion one of the members can be the President? How? Kind of election or vote?

Who can vote and how can the candidat is chosen?

  • The quick answer is that we believe that God called Joseph Smith to be a prophet and personally appeared to him. God called him to "restore" His Church, with a prophet and twelve apostles, similar to the organization that Jesus set up when he was on the earth.

When a prophet dies, the other apostles meet together. The senior apostle presides at a meeting of the Quorum of the Twelve to consider two alternative propositions:

  • i. Should the First Presidency be reorganized at this time? ii. Should the Church continue to function with the Quorum of the Twelve presiding?

After discussion, a formal motion is made and accepted by the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

If a motion to reorganize the First Presidency is passed, the Quorum of the Twelve unanimously selects the new president of the Church.

The apostles set apart the new president of the Church through a formal laying on of hands.
