  • What is your success rate with such white spread congestion and polyps in the USA? I first started getting nasal poylps at age 15 years (29 almost now) & have had four operations to remove them, which fill all sinus cavities (behind the cheeks and such). Mine always come back within a month or so of removal, it's painful, causes lots of headaches, pressure, dizziness..etc And there just seems to be no solution! Is there any research being done in this area?

  • @BTJMO 29 years old, I mean. And just to confirm, I'm from the UK.

  • Can these polyps cause me to have mild monocular double vision? I had an MRI that shows them, particularly on the left side and I have had the vision problem progressively getting worse. I also have a minor deviated septum and trouble breathing through my nose. I also live in an area that has limited access to ENT physicians, so I may have to travel for treatment. Will I be able to fly after this?

  • It makes me feel better seeing someone else get gunk removed... I am weird like that. Same with cyst videos, >_>

  • My ENT doctor says I have sinus polyps but it's more of a skin layer rather than a growth. I also don't have mucus buildup in the sinuses according to my ct scans. Can that layer cause daily strong facial pain and eye strain? I also have bad allergies and chronic sinusitis. I plan to do the balloon.

  • I had this surgery once already and felt no pain, unfortunately, I need the surgery again. I've been on flonase as well as Colloidal Silver, but I guess that doesn't matter =( Don't know when I will get to see a doctor again. How much does this cost out of pocket? I had insurance before.

  • I had this done in March 2011 and here it's jan 2012 all came back . Due to crappy insurance will not be having this done again

  • @Shiftyg71 Sorry to hear this but this is sometimes not uncommon. Discuss with your doctor topical irrigating solutions with antibiotics, steroids (mematosone) and /or anti-fungal agents. A relapse doesn't mean you need surgery again.

  • @Shiftyg71 i feel yr pain!! I had it done AND it came back again.

  • @rickster277 I'll do it again someday , I think it's just the work environment I work in that caused it to come back , when I find a diff job then I'll do it again

  • I had all this done a year ago and now it came back and i have to get it all done again .Oh btw this is very painful not to mention all the blood clots that are huge that come out of your nose for a week after !

  • @americanwarrior100 Every case is different and there are surgical preferences. You must have had extremely bad sinus infections and bad anatomical obstructions. This surgery should not be painful unless packing is required. Since I rarely pack noses and using balloons to open blocked sinuses there is little pain not controlled by codeine overnight.

  • Hi, is it possible to remove a antrochoanal polyp, why would my surgeon have not removed this

  • @nalcbotany That I can't answer. Antro-choanal polyps require surgery for removal if medical therapy fails. If seveely obsructing it may require immediate surgery.

Good luck. You can always obtain a second opinion if that is feasible.

  • @NoseMD Cheers, thanks for getting to back me. I will have to look into it when I can. Thanks again.

  • This is a good surgeon wish he was mine!, am of to have my 4th sinus operation I hate polyps horrible horrible little things that cause so much misery

  • I feel sorry for the guy who went through this... Are the patients put under anesthesia?

  • @yaaman34 Yes general anesthesia and he didn't feel a thing! Actually he is one of my happier patients since he can breath again , smell and taste normally. He is very happy and did not suffer with any pain.

  • Im sitting here after this surgery ....having splints out in one day ....thanks for posting so i can understand

  • what kinds of painkillers was this person put of afterwards, and for how long?

  • @meiscooldue two tylenol with codeine then NADA

  • @meiscooldue 1-2 days of mild analgesics

  • man that must have felt so good to get that big ass booger outta there!

  • Hot doggy!!!! Pass me my neti pot.....

  • that just looks brutal....

  • Must be such a relief when the mucous is removed, or am I wrong?

  • How much does this surgery cost is there a special insurance for this

  • No hypotenive anesthesia

  • is it done under hypotensive anesthesia sir?

  • In this case...its a good think to pick you nose xD

  • Now that was one clogged nose!!!!!!

  • Excellent vid thank you for the post

  • I just found out I've got a nasal polyp thats 1.3cm. I also just got diagnosed with moderate obstructive sleep apnea. I'm sure there is a correlation with this polyp. Thanks foe the vid hope to get resolved soon so i breathe freely.

  • Whenever I look at ENT surgeries I really wonder why I'm majoring in literature.

What exactly are nasal polyps made of? How do they start growing? Are there different types of nasal polyps?

Thank you for the video. Super awesome!

  • Must.. feel... sooo.. good

  • I bet this feels so much better...

  • Lord gawd... The human body is really gross at times. >.<

  • I find it oddly amusing that I can watch surgery like this but I cannot watch someone get stitched up... O_o

  • @vocalmagick For me it's the other way round. I think I have to throw up now.

  • What about the possibility of more infections, and the patients sense of air temperature and volume with such large, direct and exposed entrances to the maxillary sinus cavities?

  • @MeticulousMr Excellent question but these don't seem to be a problem. Reducing turbinates can lead to a dry nose that is why we try to preserve the turbinates if not completely involved with polyps. Polyp patients commonly do not have infection problems but have a greater problem with obstruction, dryness and loss of smell and taste.

  • i also have these nasal polyps, but i dont know what to do. i am suffering these a couple of year... anyone can help me please? i am begging you all, i cant afford these kind of surgical.

    please email me at zanjie08_billy@yahoo.com

  • wow...... :0

  • thank you. Yes they have recovered nicely. Breathing well. No recurrence

  • I find surgery like this fascinating. I hope this patient recovered nicely.

  • this was painful watching lol, i have a sinus headache and watching this makes me feel like shit lol

  • I had this done like 15 years ago. A really good thing to do us use those salty irrigations like Ocean or one of the other sterile nasal sprays. I do it daily and never get sinus infections anymore. Don't let your doc stuff you full of prednisone. Worst. Drug. Ever. Those insurance companies just want to drug you, rather than surgically remove polyps. Don't let them do this to you.

  • @BlueStateChronicle So its prednisone that causes this?

  • @ADGMoN3y No, allergies cause polyps. But the drug companies think that corticosteroids can shrink them, and it just isn't true. They need to be surgically removed.

  • @BlueStateChronicle Ok thanx

  • Thanks for posting this.

  • Great video!!!

I am having my third surgery in a few months -- called to schedule the CT scan today. I found a great doc in Chicago. He gentle but firm, and I almost had no bleeding post-surgery, unlike my first surgery w/ a small-town doctor. The packing was GRIZZLY the first time!!!!!

What a difference a skilled surgeon makes!! I am actually looking forward to the surgery, because I know i will feel so much better afterward. I just want to get those little f'ers out of my sinuses!!

  • Dead Sea Spa treatments really works

  • Hi, I have multiple polyps that require removal as I have lost all sense of taste and smell and cannot breathe through my nose. I am prone to sinus infections. I have been on approximately 10mg of prednisone for over two years and sinus decongestent (oxymetazoline HCL). The specialist said it would make the operation difficult as bleeding will be much harder to control and healing time will be increased substantially. It is so difficult to sleep without prednisone. Any suggestions please. Thanks

  • @mikenorman66 tell yo doc to pull his head out his ass

  • @mikenorman66 ....seriously see if there are "salt rooms" in your area....Dead Sea Spa therapy really works very effective ... very good for diseases of the respiratory system, asthma, thyroid, arthritis, polyps, so much more...

you can google or utube more info about it

  • @mikenorman66 The specialist is right--inflammation does make bleeding harder to control and slows healing. Unfortunately it does not sound like you have any alternative but to have the polyps surgically removed, as oral steroids have horrible long-term effects, and oxymetazoline can worsen nasal congestion (rhinitis medicamentosa). For what it is worth, though, getting the polyps out makes life much better.

  • Good video. I wish I had seen this before I had surgery in 1996. The worst part was that evil drug Prednasone. Doctors always want to put you on it and it will ruin your body.

  • I have had this done three times and hope to never have it again

  • @globug2000 hi, you said that you did this surgery three times! I am going to do this surgery next week for the second time. My question is do you smoke?

  • removing my packing was like a crime scene.

  • @giglisawblade

Yeah I think mine bled for 24 hours afterwards. Due to have another op in a month, last one two years ago, hopefully not again after this one, polyps are hell.

  • They are removing POLYPS people... These are abnormal tissue growths on the membrane in the lining of the nasal cavity. They can be a real pain to deal with because they restrict airflow. Polyps don't have a single cause and this is the only effective way to remove them.

  • do they put that up your nose

  • OMG getting the mucus out must feel so good.. too bad hes asleep lol

  • wow! patient must have been in pain for a few days afterwards. Very interesting.
