if your adapter doesn't allow infinity focusing on most fd lenses, besides an af assist chip and over $100, what is the difference between your adapter and the one all metal machined one from ebay you first posted about on your flickr? That one adds about 5mm I think, and you said you could still focus to about 100 meters.
@underwherewhore If you are referring to the 0.75mm EF-FD adapter that allows infinity focus on all super telephoto lenses and the maximum focusing distance without optical correction on all other nFD/FD/FL lenses rather than the lens specific one shown here, what you get for a hundred extra is a high precision adapter vs. complete junk that makes your lens feel like it will fall off and mine will still get you a 1/3 distance farther focusing.
Thanks for your adapter. Just fitted mine tonight and I DID need the spare ball, because the worst happened when I twisted the FL ring! A slightly distorted spring didn't assist the refitting process, however that's nothing to do with your kit!
Do you think you could reshoot this video from a top down perspective so we can see exactly what you are doing? and doing this while speaking out the instructions and explanations would be REALLY nice, Thank you!
@fingered Yeah I know but in your ebay listing it says that you have to be careful not to take lose a ballbearing etc. I was also wondering if this worked with the FD 1.2 version?
Notice I take care not to lift off the ring controlling A/M aperture control. If I did the ball bearing would pop out and its a bit of a pain to put back in.
It will not work with the FD 1.2 version, I bought one to try and after taking it completely apart I came to the conclusion that there was no way to make an EOS conversion kit that 1. could be easily installed by the end user and 2. would not require any permanent modification of the vintage lens.
@Mescalamba Unfortunately this kit only works on the FL 55 1.2. Yesterday we disassembled an FL 58 1.2 and an FD 55 1.2 SSC and neither of them will work with this or any other easy to swap mount adapter. The next vintage lens we are developing an adapter for is the TS 35mm 2.8. I agree, I have slip prism mirrors on both my 1D4s since I prefer to manual focus on many of my EF lenses, it is a nice thing to have.
@fingered I saw guy on Flickr that have a lot of FD lens converted to EOS.. kinda wonder how he did that (tho hes using 5DMK2 with a lot of mirror shaved off).
@alreacon This kit only works on the FL 55mm 1.2 and no other lens. The other adapter I sell is the EdMika 0.75mm EF-FD design and this one can be used on all FL/FD/nFD lenses thought it only gets some of them to infinity (400 2.8, 500 mirror, 600 4.5 and 800 5.6).
Btw. keep up the great work! I really like what you did here, and i´m hoping to someday be able to get one here in germany, to show it around and make it popular for everyone! :)

I guess, though there is not much to say other than take the 3 original screws out, swap mounts, and put the 3 new screws in.

@fingered Correction, an FD 55 1.2 conversion kit is in the works now.

Just a thought.. shouldnt it work with other FD lens too?
Btw. you can always buy split prism/micro prism focusing screen..

so you need to buy a $125 adapter for each fd or fl lens you want to use?

What about the view through the view finder, there won't be a split prism. Does the chip confirm correct focus then?
snappuppy 5 months ago
@snappuppy It does
IceBox3 5 months ago
@snappuppy yes although I find the most accurate way to focus is using live view.
