I can't complain about the WEP site I'm at now, finally got a decent one and actually getting some actuall job experience at this place. My last place was cleaning in the kitchen everything by hand. That isn't work experience I do that everyday at home in my own kitchen. I actually got very sick last winter because the cook threw stuff into the sink while I was washing and the water splashed up into me, I had to walk home in the dead of winter wet and they didn't care.

wait until they call our names to give us a referal to so place that either a) not hiring b) minium wage, part time job. People need full time jobs, just to survive with this economy, food, rent, utilities, clothes. Employers don't care, HRA don't care. They will give us 40 dollor voucher just for interview clothes. @Althena2006 Althena, you just made an important point......the way some of these so-called job search programs, such as Goodwill, FEGS, and Arbor NY claim to "help" people look for work is just comical! Like you just said, they will send someone to a business or company that's not hiring or if you find a job, your paycheck will be so scant that you will have to continue getting help from HRA/Public Assistance. This is done to keep people trapped in these programs, I believe!

@Althena2006 And some people have sat in some of these programs (Goodwill, Arbor NY, etc.) for long periods of time because they really feel there is NO WAY OUT! It's sad. I can see if someone has inadequate education or vocational skills or even perhaps a lengthy criminal record, but even those of us who have a fairly good background can't hardly luck up on a job even at McDonalds!

So one mistake you are out and you can't defend yourself, because you can't afford a lawyer. This system doesn't care about the people. I love the stupid comments of people. I know what building you are in, tha't the Jamaica building and I think I spent most of my summer in their because they screwed around with my benefits. News flash people I was working minium wage next to nothing hours and needed these people help just to make ends meet. I would be on that line at 7:30-8 am in the morning to be one of the first people in to try and be one of the first out. There are times I'm still in there until 1 pm.

I agree. HRA workers are very rude and unprofessional. They treat people bad in order to get them to not keep their appointments in order to deny people in need. These workers of HRA forget that most of them are poor minorities and are one paycheck away from being homeless.
