i shot a 4 foot timber rattler over summer up there while ridin four wheelers in webster county. had to shoot it twice with a .223 biggest one ive ever seen in person. its a nice place to hunt em.
I've always thought about those guys doing the rock climbing, if any ever stick their hand in a crack for a good hold, and feel a sting on their fingers or hand? (Snake Bite) That would have to be horrible especially if you were high up, in a tight spot, and couldn't just move your hand when you wanted to, that situation could result in mutiple bites. I just couldn't rock climb in areas that have venomous snakes, I would just have to stick with the cold spots (snow)then you just slip &die-LOL
I used to cimb at Coopers years ago. During a 1st accent on a rock I heard something near the top where a small shelf went back about a foot, as i pulled myself up I came face-to-face with a snake, no idea on if it was a rattlesnake, just assuming cause of the sound. As soon as I got the "o-shit" factor I immediatly let go and my buddy lowered me down.
@seanwoodz -See - Thats what I'm talking about, and I'm really amazed that we don't hear more story's like yours and worse, because (obviously - as you have proved) it does happen, also some snakes such as australia's death adder's love to lay on rock ledges, I once saw a show where the late Steve Irwin (God Bless his memory - Great guy ) found one (Death adder) while climbing down a rock ledge, of course *He* picks it up and had a grand O'l time-LOL Thanks for the story! ~Lee
I almost stepped on one of those in the South Jersey Pine Barrens. I was gonna shoot it. But my friend was like "no no leave it alone." I'm glad I left it alone because they are not that common in those parts....
Thats so cool. I've been looking for a timber rattlesnake for 4 years with no luck at all and you go out and find 10! WTF Mate!!!!!! Wish I could have been there, looks like you had fun. Good luck snake catching and be careful, later.
Great footage, great pics, great song choice! Just caught a nice timber this past week at Cooper's. Unfortunately, the camera batteries were dead on both cameras.

If the Lord is with you, you can handle snakes and not be bitten. That's why so many people get bitten on their hands.
