@iloveabba91 First off, dumb fuck, Whitney does mix! She has mixed an F#6, and maybe even higher! She is amazing she can whistle it and belt it. 9 octaves from a sprinto contralto soprano
@blewis9505 Use your brain to think. If you can't then throw it for a dog. As people grow older, their voice become deeper. Tell me anyone can BELT IN FULL CHEST AN F5 OR F#5 LIKE WHITNEY IN THEIR 30s. Even Aretha herself has never done any high note of this song live. And moreover, Aretha belts in MIX, Whitney belts in chest, which is a lot harder and of course provide much better tone compared to a mixed belt. And Whitney doesn't have any "falsetto", ONLY PURE HEAD VOICE, and of course best 1
por favor, no cantes mas canciones de la insuperable aretha franklin, ella tenia el poderio para los increibles agudos de esta cancion, esta claro que a whitney le viene grande el intentarlo..se sensata deja a la reina lo que es suyo puton
I used to think there wasn't a such thing as a better singer than Whitney was in her prime, but, after hearing this garbage, I think otherwise. The whole song wasn't garbage just the bridge. But the bridge was the climax of the song making it the most memorable. That makes it even worse that Whitney messed it up. Mixed voice, full voice, whatever voice Whitney used it sounded strained. This song is clearly out of Whitney's musical range. I had to hear the original just to like the song again.
Oh Bless your heart, Whitney Baby! U tried. U really did... and you were sounding good for the most part. but that bridge kicked your butt (as it has just about everyone who has ever dared to take on this song). Aretha set the bar at an incredible high, and even though Whitney lowered the key, she STILL couldn't hit those notes.
@gosty111 Just listened to it. It was still a struggle for her, but at least the other sounded much better than this. Of course, the recording was old and the pitch was altered much higher than she actually sang it. Still, with both of these recordings, it's just a pleasure to hear Old Whitney. What a voice... and what a loss.
@gosty111 Def disagree with you on the Aretha singing in mixed voice (at the time of her recording Aint No Way), but I do agree that for Whitney, it IS more difficult.
@iknowdasright I certainly disagree with you. @gosty111 is right, Aretha does use mix...still not as obvious as a lot of other singers but she does use it. However, She's so diverse vocally(the BEST!) she can alternate between chest and mixes. For Whitney, I think it may be more difficult because she never alternates, it's always been chest, chest, chest! Which is SUPER hard. That said, as much as I love my girl...it did get her! Poor Whitney, NO ONE is immune from drug abuse.
@iknowdasright Not for nothing, but the studio version of aretha is unmatched and the best IMO, but really I never saw what she did the in the studio duplicate it live..
@iknowdasright omg she did really well until the bridge...i spent her ends notes with my hands over my mouth. Dare i say it but amber riley for glee tears it up much better than whitney!!!
uuuuuuuuuuuu ija mia q gallikos te gastas ehhh anda dejasela mejor pa aretha q pa algo es suya y ella x lo menos y llega a los agudos y no lo disimules al final
As incredible as Whitney's voice was during this era, her voice obviously just wasn't right for "Ain't No Way". Aretha's voice just has that gut wrenching, soulful elegance which brings the song to life while Whitney, an amazing belter, is just too much of a technical singer for it. If that makes sense, still love Whitney though! :)
@blewis9505 On this she might have been a lil vocally tired..but Whitney IS KNOWN for HER CHEST VOICE being LIMITLESS...and he falsetto/Head Voice is impeccable ....SO I think u shud retract ur STATEMENT!!!
@thesinger If there is ANY retraction to be accomplished you should pull your head out of your ass. Incidentally I don't give a shit what you think you think. Needless to say one has to have a brain for that which you clearly lack. Back in your box, Jack-ASS. (LOL)
@milljh711 aretha belted in this song, she just used her mixed voice (combination of chest and head, it helps women belt higher). she belted some wicked high soprano notes in 'ain't no way,' listen to the original. whitney always just used her chest or head voice.
@reznikator Too True, well in her earlier days, esp before Im your baby tonight Whitney did use her Mix ocassionally but most part raw gut chest belter and I HATE that because she woulda done so much more with her voice if she mixed more. However even on this tour she mixed on different songs, but she only did it when she played around like Love You Save By Mj (look it up) but when she went to belt she always pulled! Argh and she NEVER PRACTICED!
Exactly; it it such a tremendous effort to belt too high in your chest- unfortunately thats what she did and as she got older, the gap between her chest and head became evident and, I'm sure you know, she often belted really high in her chest and didn't have the transition she once had. I'm in agreement that Whitney could do anything in her prime!! She is the voice
@blkhunk23 Whitney did a good job, but i never heard Aretha crack while singing this song and whitney did at 3:28! btw who is doing the backgrounds fro Whitney? homegirl is a beast!
3:08 onwards - ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MOMENTS EVER.
Whitney fans love Aretha too. You can have your own musical preference. Ain't No Way will always be Aretha's song, but vocally and musically Whitney does it as well as Aretha. Because Whitney can sing anybody's song, and make it her own.
All I can say is wow this is truly a classic song brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it, this is what true talent sounds like nothing like that studio crap that they try to pass off as music in this day and time.
With the key she is singing in this is still some high shyt to sing...and aretha's orignal version was a couple of steps up from this one!!! From 3:24-3:29 was a struggle! WOW!! *sweat glands*
actually the key was lower than the orignal aretha version..but for an overall key to sing in it is high for this particular song..that's what i meant...not as in a higher performance...cuz me you and whitney know ree the queen!
Don't start talking out of your head. Whitney's version did a very good version but no one sings Ain't No Way like Aretha. The emotion Aretha evoked on that song is matched by anyone who tries to sing it. No one sings Ain't No Way like Aretha does.
I disagree. I love Aretha, but I prefer Whitney's versions. Her Brazil performance and Classic Whitney performance are so different, but equally fantastic.
Whitney did a great version of this song. But no one versions beats Aretha's emotional expression of that song. Ain't No Way one of the best songs Aretha ever recorded. And i am very happy that Whitney did a version of this wonderful. But in my heart Aretha's version of Ain't No Way will always stay.
