Hello Ted - Your amazing skill with an air rifle is surpassed by your skill as a videographer. You might want to consider doing a professional documentary.

@wwedirecmaster since you are too dumb to understand, this is considered pest control, as he lives in a farm. and second, squirrels are really tasty. what's your problem?
@wwedirecmaster BLAH BLAH BLAH ALL CAPS BULLSHIT WAH WAH WAH I CAN'T COMPOSE A COHERENT SENTENCE, WHAT THE FUCK AM I TALKING ABOUT? I DON'T KNOW! more and hit the squirrel in the head and he droped like a tun of bricks never flinchd so what im getting at is ii respcet the knock down of the 22 and 25 but prefer a smaller lighter faster pellit
my old brake barrol .177 (wich is about 14 years old maxed out at 1200 fps when it was new but now is about 800 or 900) well eney way i steped out on my porch one day as the light was almost gone and notised a big spot in a tree limb so i went inside and got my range finder the range finder said 45 yard (mine has a feet featcher a km feacher and yards i prefer yards) so i got my break barrol out and took one shot at the base of the branch to get my shot down and get a good shot then took one
Hey I want to start doing this but I dont know if my bb gone is powerful enough to kill a squirrel or small bird. also do you eat the squirrels? I would feel bad if I dont eat them
I have a .177 break barrel (15ft-lbs at the muzzle). I aim for the head and if I hit that, it's lights out. Often though, the pellet enters the neck. I'd say he's still dead instantly, just with a lot more blood spray. You may get some nerve twitch. That said, with some not so great hits, the .177 has failed to be lethal with one shot on me, but I've never left a critter suffering yet. I just feel that much energy on target is going to leave any small critter incapacitated, or dead.
yep! i agree ,the bigger the round the more damage ."BUT" don't for get kenetic energy .being a shooter 177 cal. my train of thought is to change of ballistic of the round or the weight .this change in the mass of the larger weight increase adds sock and stopping power by the way i.m a SPRINGER for life .RWS MODEL 48 & NEW GAMO SOCOM EXTREEM..keep on shooting down with tree hugging. great gun cam !!!!

Bummer that YouTube is getting all conservative. Have you considered Vimeo? (not sure how their policies differ) Or maybe making them available somehow for download?
I remember when I was 7 or 8 my uncle got me a .177 cal pellet gun. I shot a squirrel in the chest with it, and it just ran off, just brusied it a bit. Now I just use it for plinking.
Wonderful video !!! which software of assembly do you use? Always the EDGUN which is a magnificent weapon for the hunting. Could you make a video of hunting with the Marauder pistol, because I possess this one now and I find it fantastic!!!!
Thanks for another great hunting video. As always you will have the antis and the pore city boys that have never set foot into the woods and experienced the thrill of the hunt for themselves ( CEOs of YouTube included) crying about it but you do a great job trying to educate them.
hey ted, would you consider the benjamin titan 22 cal? because the 22 cal with lead pellets can only go about 700 fps so do you think that is good for rabbit hunting? how fast does your gun in the video go?
Thank you, excellent work. Just ordered a .22 Benjamin Discovery, I was debating b/w it and the .25 NP XL as they are similarly priced i.e app. $300 but trajectory & cost of the .22 pellets sealed the deal, if I need more wallop 22 shorts will be a better option.
I killed a 9 lb groundhog one time with a .177 gamo big cat 1200. It popped out of it's hole, I hit it in his chest and it immediately dropped dead in it's hole. I couldn't believe it. Even small calibur airguns can instantly kill small-medium size game if the shot placement is good.
I agree with you to a existent I have a crosman quest 1000x and I shot a squirrel at 20 yards with a .177 predator pollymag and he took 3 steps and died
@amp9oo I should do a special video on Predator Pellets. They change everything when it comes to hunting because they hit like a ton of bricks. Thanks for your comment. :)
@TheyLiveWeObey Dear Youtube, Observe the effectiveness of age restricting videos. You explain that you do it to prevent it from being seen by those who do not want to view hunting. But, as you can see, anti-hunters actually SEEK out these videos. So, reconsider your policy. It is not working. You are only punishing the young shooters who would like to learn their craft. ted.
@CanadianAirGunHunter Yeah - I might as well upload the original one now. No sense trying to compromise with Youtube and the antis if they are going to flag and age restrict my video regardless of my editing. Maybe I'll upload that this week.
@EdgunUSA No kidding, whats the point of they arent going to use any attentive judgment rather than unbridled disreguard for an obvious (and well done) attempt to tone down a graphic video.
Man they should definitely hire you to direct all the Sniper Shows on the Discovery Channel. What a great video and great footage of hits. I would love to replace your squires with Taliban insurgents and your pellet gun with a Remington MSR in 338 lapua magnum.
well Ok I do not air gun hunt I hunt with powder perpellent firearms (AKA .22LR 30.06 12 gauge) its all in what you like but when you said that the pellet flew him back no no it was that pain and he jumped backwards I'm am just saying do not take me the wrong way i'm just saying.
Nice vid! Even my 8 year old understood the vids importance. he said we should stick to. 22 vice .177 for birds for the instakill effect. Thanks for the illustration.
Its funny how they would restrict this video, your showing how to more ethically hunt game. Yes, hunting has bloodbut,If your going to get all worked up about the blood, then why is the word HUNTING or GUN in your search bar. Heck, the person that reported this video is probably some mom who's little kid enjoys blood and killing because they play to much call of duty. He even gives warnings in the beginning of his videos that there is hunting. Seriously, if you can't handle it, don't watch it.
great vids. i asked the same question about importance of energy for instant kill, i shoot BSA r10 (uk ft/lb) .22 jsb 15.90, head shot squirrel instant deceased, iv heard .177 they still run ?
Screw age restriction! Kids should get outside more and quit sitting around watching Youtube videos and eating Mickey D's. Go play outside and quit being obese.
Waikarimoana makes some great hunting videos but puts a warning on every one. I am interested in the ballistics. For rifles a opposed to air guns you typically get larger calibre's having lower muzzle velocity and superior ballistic coefficient. They do have normally much more muzzle energy and lose energy less rapidly. Airguns it seems it is much more about having more surface area. Have you looked at the energy graphs to compare across calibre's Ted??
Is the Marauder in .25 caliber suitable for "hunting" raccoons? I can live with the squirrels around my house, but the cat food stealing raccoons must go. Unfortunately, I can't fire a firearm in my backyard, so I have to resort to alternate means. Airguns are my first choice, but a .22 CO2 gun is barely capable to "hunt" possums, let alone 'coon. Otherwise... archery?
Nice comparison. You should have thrown in a .177 shot too. I have shot squirrels countless times with various .177s and none of them even wounded the squirrels! .22 is a big difference I guess but I know some people that say .22s aren't effective on squirrels either. One time my friend plugged 7 .22 rounds into a squirrel to kill it! Of course I'm talking about tree squirrels which I think are tougher.
Interesting, though I have recently switch from using a .22 air rifle to a .177 both shooting around 11.5ftlbs (the legal limit in the uk) and i have found the .177 to give more consistant clean kills on vermin particularly grey squirrels. However I only ever go for head shots and I think maybe the .177 gives better penetration than the .22 so this might be the reason, what do you think?
Is there any way you could send me a copy of your originally uploaded version? I was looking forward to this video so much! I was unfortunately in upstate New York when you posted it, and missed out on the original. The cleaning bit was what I really wanted to see, since I've always wanted to hunt squirrels but decided not to because I don't know how to clean them and I didn't want to waste a squirrel for no reason. Thanks a lot!
Fantastic video, I use my .25 airguns at sub 12FPE in the UK to great effect, as you say it really opens up your killzones, now chest shots on Pigeons and Squirrels at 45yards are more than capable of dropping them stone dead. I'll look forward to more comparisons!
i totally agree with what u are saying however yesterday i shot a squirrel with my power upgraded weihrauch just in front of his its shoulder and it dropped instantly but i completely understand what your talking about and i love all your video's
first of all i like you video's realy mutch. so here is the question
i have a Air Arms s 510 .25 xtra fac and its zero distance is 60 meters but if i have a enemy bird at 100 or 30 meters i donth know how i have to aim at them. can you help me whit this ?
@Rottenjuggalo, the .25s have a better BC compared to the .22 (0.034 JSB Exact Kings~25.4gn v. 0.027 JSB Jumbo Exact Heavy~18.1gn) so some efficiency benefits from the BigCal. Usually larger calibers are also more air efficient from otherwise identical rifles.
All irrelevant if you can't find a pellet that works well in your equipment, and here in the UK we are power limited which makes .25 a very short range tool, but interesting viewing as ever.
Youtube is being over run by yippies (hippie + yuppie) and askewed sexually oriented flakes. Only a yippie would claim to be "green" and "all about nature and the enviornment" and oppose someone harvesting wild game for nourishment (nature's cycle of life) to the point of banning videos with blood. I really don't understand how these illogical, minority miscreants can get so much say here. They must have photos of the executives in compromising positions.
that is ridiculous about youtube. your videos are very well made and informative. it's not like your just some bloodthirsty idiot (which there are a lot of on youtube) you actually care about humane killing and educate people. of all the things to censor on youtube that is the most unbelievable.
please respond........ but um.. i got a .177 phantom i went squrriel hunting yesterday about 20/25 yards i shot it in the head and it didnt die.. instantly but it was a clean kill.... will .177 still be good enough.. for like shooting game like rabits and stuff with that?
nice man... im from argentina... and i'm a byg fan of your videos! you are a fucking master! jajaja i have a hatsan 125, what do you think about this rifle?? Regards from Argentine!!!
Uhm... 90 "likes" and 3 "dislikes"... So, then You Tube "feels" obligated to Cover Their Asses since there are 3 dislikes and %$#censor$%!!?? "Freedom of Choice?? (My ASS!). The 3 MORONS that posted "dislikes" ...PROBABLY have EVERY late term HUMAN abortion video listed as "Favorite" in thier taskbar. I suppose we will be celebrating a , "Be NICE to Pussies Day" in America VERY soon. Kick 'em in the ass, Ted!! You're doing a GREAT JOB!! Informative, educational, ETHICAL, and AMERICAN!!!
im very interested in these guns im debating on the 22 and 25 im new to pcp and i figured y not start of with the best that i can affor around 300 to 475 is finding 25 cal pellets difficult and if u would sugest one for shooting mostly in the woods agacent to resedential areas which would u choose...ps can you do a vid on filling up ur marauder with air thanx
Dang Ted, I love your videos and your narration. Are you a teacher by chance? You just sound like you know how to teach. Btw, ordered myself a Benjamin M-rod 177 caliber because of you and your videos! lol Always been a "springer" guy and never knew what a pcp was until your videos. Went 177 because it will be a basement target gun as I have 22 RF and 17 Mach 2 for my rimfire hunting needs and plenty of centerfires for everything else. Can't wait for the pcp!!!!
I still think I'm leaning towards the Marauder .22. Its quieter, the charge lasts longer for more shots and I think I can find a heavier pellet to make the ft. lbs. I need to take rabbit or pest cleanly. .25 is really cool too... decisions.
Id hate to disagree and cause an argument but why would you buy a 25 and have a lower ballistics coefficient than just stick with a 22 but buy heavier pellets that will fight the wind and carry more velocity to longer ranges? A larger caliber will generally slow down faster than a smaller caliber in the same gr weight. Probably out of my realm seeing as how I shoot long range with center fire rifles.
@MrROTTENJUGGALO I don't see that as disagreeing - just thinking about how to skin the cat more efficiently :). It comes down to getting the pellet/bullet energy to transfer to the animal. As we saw, the .25 pellet passed through, so some energy was lost. I've heard that some pellets, like predators, do not exit squirrels, so that would mean that the squirrel absorbs it all (and get crushed). There is a lot to be discussed. And I certainly don't claim to be the authority :)
Assuming all killed squirrels are eaten, the 25 seems much more humane.

You are only punishing the young shooters who would like to learn their craft. ted.

hi
they seem to forget they have the right not to watch, its in the name squirrel hunting.
some people have nothing better to do than look for things to be offended by.
you are very accurate - good clean instant kills and no suffering.
by posting on youtube you show us how it should be done keep them coming.

Have you looked at the energy graphs to compare across calibre's Ted??
studley2436 1 month ago
Anti hunting but they sure like to send young people off to war! Keep up the good videos, hunters eat better and it shows!
TheAbelinkin 1 month ago
Is the Marauder in .25 caliber suitable for "hunting" raccoons? I can live with the squirrels around my house, but the cat food stealing raccoons must go. Unfortunately, I can't fire a firearm in my backyard, so I have to resort to alternate means. Airguns are my first choice, but a .22 CO2 gun is barely capable to "hunt" possums, let alone 'coon. Otherwise... archery?
BerkeleyGang 1 month ago

Regards...

I still think I'm leaning towards the Marauder .22. Its quieter, the charge lasts longer for more shots and I think I can find a heavier pellet to make the ft. lbs. I need to take rabbit or pest cleanly. .25 is really cool too... decisions.

"Youtube screeners"...slang for Gestapo and the thought police. Little by little..the George Soros' are destroying our nation. (as planned)
wigwamman1 2 months ago in playlist Air Rifle Hunting
Id hate to disagree and cause an argument but why would you buy a 25 and have a lower ballistics coefficient than just stick with a 22 but buy heavier pellets that will fight the wind and carry more velocity to longer ranges? A larger caliber will generally slow down faster than a smaller caliber in the same gr weight. Probably out of my realm seeing as how I shoot long range with center fire rifles.
MrROTTENJUGGALO 2 months ago
@MrROTTENJUGGALO I don't see that as disagreeing - just thinking about how to skin the cat more efficiently :). It comes down to getting the pellet/bullet energy to transfer to the animal. As we saw, the .25 pellet passed through, so some energy was lost. I've heard that some pellets, like predators, do not exit squirrels, so that would mean that the squirrel absorbs it all (and get crushed). There is a lot to be discussed. And I certainly don't claim to be the authority :)
