Wonderfully said!!! It saddens me that I live in a state (Georgia) that my mothers could not be married before one of them passed away one year ago this month at the age of 77. They LOVED each other and they had always wanted to be married but because of prejudice and ignorance they were not able to be married. I am so happy that you helped your state and your mothers are allowed to live their dream.
I want to thank your moms for bringing up such a fine upstanding example of the younger generation. Your generation will inherit this country and with you out there it gives me great hope. Zach, as you probably know, the court has just ruled that Prop 8 is unconstituional here in California, and those of us here think it's a step in the right decision. In this case, he's probably better off with mono-gender parents compared to a huge percentage of poly-gender parents. Dear Zach, as a gay foster parent the professionals decided that it was in the best interest of our son that he was placed in our care. My husband and I were surprised they would consider placing a boy with two dads, but they thought that we could provide him the safe haven his biological parents could not. One year later the professionals are very impressed by his progression and we are already very proud of him. Watching your plead we hope one day he will be as proud as you over us. Thanks!
Coming from divorced parents, we were all told we were damaged goods, back in the 70's. Today I have been happily married for 20 years with 2 kids and even the dog. My brother is married with 2 kids, the dog and over 20 years in the Army. And my little sister is married with 2 kids-no dogs-and a high school math teacher. Hi Zach, I am a gay from Mexico (coatzacoalcos, veracruz to be exact) I do really like the way you stand up for your family. It is basically true that heterosexual people are against gay people raise or adopt children, but I have always wondered what do they prefer, having abandoned children on the streets begging for food or having those children in a lovely and warm home where a gay couple provide them the necesary to succed in life?? But, the problem with politics, especially nowadays, is that it attracts the wrong people. People like you need to be in politics >because< you don't have plans to be a politician. Dear Zach, as a gay foster parent the professionals decided that it was in the best interest of our son that he was placed in our care. My husband and I were surprised they would consider placing a boy with two dads, but they thought that we could provide him the safe haven his biological parents could not. One year later the professionals are very impressed by his progression and we are already very proud of him. Watching your plead we hope one day he will be as proud as you over us. Thanks!

Coming from divorced parents, we were all told we were damaged goods, back in the 70's. Today I have been happily married for 20 years with 2 kids and even the dog. My brother is married with 2 kids, the dog and over 20 years in the Army. And my little sister is married with 2 kids-no dogs-and a high school math teacher. Seems to me the "damaged good" weren't so damaged. You make me proud to be an Iowan....Thanks

You are amazing and a great speaker My friend shared the video on facebook and i commented YAY ANOTHER SMART EAGLE SCOUT and she said, "yes annie, because that't the point..." well to me no it wasn't the point. but growing up my best friends had two moms so i grew up with them being a big part of my life for over 10 years. To me the point was to show how amazing YOU are and that the sexual orientation of your parents didn't hinder you. I think you are amazing and well, basically the perfect guy.
