@882me - I believe the idea is to put a container in place that future government actors can fill with whatever is appropriate for the time. In that way, Obama's work was successful. I feel they didn't go far enough, with financial or health care insurance - but the concept may be sound, and allow for smoother passage of refinements and additions in the future.

More likely, she's looking out for American's prosperity in the same way Obama was when he was a candidate in 2008 - as a resource to mine. Come victory and receiving the keys to the executive washroom, and you'll find that very little changes except the faces.

What I don't get is who do they think they are fooling? Most conservatives are mad at any sort of banking reform and don't trust anything Obama does, most liberals know this isn't reform, most moderates know it isn't reform - are these guys just playing this out for themselves?

Yeah, and it goes beyond that. If you have strong laws and a weak regulator, other people can still put pressure on through other avenues, like through the courts. This is weak reform that's almost impossible to do any good with, and they are trying to get someone in there who will make sure no one tries to.
