I think Joe Cocker always seemed to naturally look better and cooler with the beard on.
He first grew it in late 1969 after Woodstock then shaved it off briefly in early 1970 then grew it again shortly after in the Spring of 1970 and has kept it on ever since.
Beg to differ dear Fire alarm breatheren, Chris Stanton on Piano (5-15 Who Fame, + now bad ass keyboard with Eric Clapton, Sometimes simple is refreshing, I love this jam, simple or not, gotto go Lyrics .com though to get gist, Be safe All
I remember watching them play this song on American Bandstand and a slim foxy white girl a regular dancing to it with a smile that's what this song reminds me of.early 70's
madonna never sang a note of rock and roll. neither did billy joel. what i heard is that you can't get into the hall unless you make a huge donation to the hall. talent means nothing. there are some great bands that havn't made it. it's a shame.
Kick Ass piano from Chris Stainton. Orginally on the 1972 Album, "Joe Cocker" (45 released in 1971). "Woman to Woman" is on this Album also. Thanks ShoppingArcy.
@jmortondrums You are SO correct...one cord...lol. In my band we use to joke that the some guy played so bad...he couldn't remember the cordS..to "High Time We Went"....lol
ragazzi ma fatevi un pò di cultura che proprio ne avete bisongno, questa è Sweet lorene di otis redding che poi ha copiato anche zucchero, ma roba da manicomio.
typical of 1971-72... not surprisin' when you know the year... but more surprisin' when you don't know speciffically the sound of 1972... and when people just now 3-5 songs of mr Cocker... oh jesus after 1:30 this man influenced probably Motorhead man Lemmy... there's similarities...xpt that cocker as more a burnin' soul voice......the end is great... if people want more of this kind of stuff! they should look at the family tree of Cocker's 70s bands members...be curious & do some research!
@Johnnytwain1 That would make sense, but then Chicago comes to mind. They're not in there either. How many bands do you know of that have sold more records than Chicago??? "According to Billboard, Chicago was the leading U.S. singles charting group during the 1970s. They have sold over 38 million units in the U.S., with 22 gold, 18 platinum, and 8 multi-platinum albums.[2][3] Over the course of their career they have charted five No. 1 albums, and have had 21 top ten hits." - Wikepedia
Madonna is in the dumb ass Rock n' Roll Hall Of Fame, but Joe Cocker ISN'T??? Nor is Leon Russell, for that matter! What a disgrace!...BTW,...Will someone please post this in stereo???
@actormanic Fuck the Rocknroll Hall of fame!!! Fuck all the record companies. The rock music industry was and still is a multi billion dollar industry and who ever was topping the charts or who ever got the most publicity, that's who gets inducted into the rocknroll hall of fame. EXTREMELY PATHETIC. Leon Russell wrote countless songs for groups like the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Joe Cocker etc. It's up to people like you and me to not even worry about that shit and just keeping our ears open.
@actormanic . . The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is controlled by none-musicians and induction to the institution is decided by them ( Jann Wenner being the main asshole there ). There are many who deserve to be in and are not, purely because these mafiosos have a personal dislike for them . . . I'm sure Joe Cocker and Leon Russell couldn't give a flying fuck . .They too cool for that . . .Chris.
This tune is simply awesome...so cool the way they story unfolds backwards... the lyrics are...yes...bitchin!! "Preachers around for the blues" F'ing great!!
One rocking song....3 people went....no high times for them....

Cocker rips n roars it on this one but he sounds drunk on the recording. Might not have been far from the truth considering his state at the time.

Part of the reason Madonna is in is beacause of record sales.
She has sold many millions more.
That is the reality of the music buisiness
I work in the buisiness in promoting bands so I know the deal
Same goes for who wins the awards.
Grammy's ect.
