What a great honour it was to play against this mighty Liverpool. At Wembley, for all those fans. Players and fans of Bruges remember this as the most beautifull day of their life.
Over all football history I think Liverpool was the best team ever.
@capricious71 5 actually.. I didn't mention Swansea.. Den Haag supporters have a friendship with supporters from Legia Warszawa from Poland, Juventus from Italy, Swansea from Wales and Club Brugge from Belgium. We visit each others matches and display banners and flags in our stadiums. Look at the photos background on my channel, you'll see what i mean!!!
Great goal from Kenny....but look how well Souness played too. ( or "sow-ness", as lovely old Brian Moore kept calling him). I think the signing of those two players were probably the most important in the club's history and transformed them from a 'merely' great side into one of the best the country, and Europe, has ever seen.
Scots to score winning goals in European Cup Finals : Steve Chalmers, Celtic 1967; Kenny Dalglish, Liverpool 1978 and John Robertson, Nottingham Forest 1980. Tommy Gemmell of Celtic and Scotland is the top British scorer in European Cup Finals, 1967 and 1970, 2 strikes in all.
Liverpool would of Slaughtered Juventus in the final if they made it because i doubt they would of played the same as Bruge it would of been much more open, the problem with FC Bruges was they played in such a Defensive way in the final i mean really they were so defensive it was unreal , they were really hard to break down
@5eurocups2005 : We never shall be able to kmow, that...football is strange, at the end only the scores remain!I am sure that a final LIverpool-Juventus in 78 could be unforgettable, because that Juventus, composed by only italian players, (9 members of the fantastic Bearzot's national team) was one of the greatest italian team ever..hello!
@totonno58 Hello Liverpool Dominated Europe between 77-84 i couldn't give a shit about Juve, Juventus only won 1 European between the years of 60-90 (hardly great), in total they have only won 2 same as Nottingham Forrest.....at the end of the day Liverpool were crowned champions of Europe in 78 something Juventus can't say.
What a feckin bargain you got buying Dalglish from Celtic. £440,000 - Jeez. He won the Liverpool hearts that night & went on to become one of your greatest ever players.
We Celtic fans had watched him winning games on his own and knew you were getting a world-class player

FC Bruges perhaps deserved to win Uefa Cup in 1976 and could win Champions in 1977(when Juve achieved Urfa cup) but gift tha access to demi-final to Borussia...instead,in 1978,Bruges was very very lucky against Juve(I repea myself) and arrived tired and weak into the final ...football is a strange sport!!P.S.However, I recognize Bruges was a Great Team at that time, always winner against all italians, I remember very well!!CIAO!

Those 4 triumphs were won the hard way against the elite of European football.Real Madrid,Roma and Bruges, unlike Man utds victory over money bags Chelsea who have no pedigree, snigger, snigger.
Dalglish is the greatest British footballer I have seen in 35 years of watching football, he was AT LEAST 5 times the player Cantona was. Like the guy below says, check Bob Paisley's record in 9 years compared to Fergusons since he started at Utd (approx 20?). This was also long before the days when football teams where built with hundred - million pound budgets, Dalglish cost £440,000 in '77 ,count the value in that figure, priceless!
i don't know why people think fc brugge is a weak side people need to realise that they beat italian giants juventus in the semi finals that year and they were dominating italian football at the time as well.
liverpool have won 5 european cups something man united have never done you have not even won a uefa cup where as we have won 3, also they have never won 2 in a row, liverpool have been in 7 finals were as man utd have 3 in there intire history, 2 european cups in 22 years and only 2 finals as well for fergusons men is pretty poor if you ask me, bob won 3 in 7 years, also he is the most successful manager in european football know other manger has won 3 european cups so piss off
Great highlights package. Thanks for posting. That may be the biggest mismatch in the history of the European Cup. Very good Liverpool team against one of the weakest finalists ever -- plus the game was played at Wembley.
@totonno58 its a moot point totonno..juve werent good enough to be in the final and really, all other things aside we were the better team at heysel too...losing to a gifted penalty. but that too is a moot point, considering what happened that day...just saying liverpool are the better team
@keef40 : Better team at Heysel? Your joking right? Juve beat you for the Supercup 2-0, and would have tought you football IF your fans would have acted normal in Brussels....and the penalty? Ah well, your country got a free WC in 66 ;-)
i can't believe i have been arguing with terry christian, it's a bit weird since he went into big brother and i have not had a single reply from cashback13.
i don't what you two are on about. this team would beat any other of any other era. English teams didn't even enter the EC when Madrid won it 5x. the busby babes would have massacred them had they gone in earlier, duncan edwards, charlton et al. and i'm a liverpudlian...madrid's cups are devalued. they did nothing after the 50s until the galiticos period but that too has now fallen apart. the true champions of europe are the clubs Liverpool and AC.
Actually, it was only in the European Cup's first season (55/56) that the English champions (Chelsea) didn't enter. And that's only 'cos the FA said that they weren't allowed to. (The '86 to '90 European Cups aren't either.)
But you are right that Real would probably not have made it to five if Munich hadn't happened. Their own players later said that the '58 triumph was bittersweet and not celebrated so much. I wouldn't say they're devalued, though.
Thanks. If we're being honest, it's hard to judge which European Cup winners' achievements are genuinely worthy and which aren't, when you take into account the format of the comp is (mostly) knockout, as opposed to league. Also, take into account the many differing elements, such as the quality of opposition, method of qualifying, fitness of individual players, final venue, etc. (You could also say the same thing about the World Cup.)
By the way, my comment on the '86 to '90 ECs was meant to be in the paragraph below. I was claiming that the loss of English teams in those days (due to the Heysel ban) didn't devalue them either. I messed with the structure of my statement and didn't notice until I'd posted it.
They won it in 60 and 66! But then they had a bad spell in the 70s and the 80s where they had to make do with Uefa cup and Euro Cup Winners Cup! 1980-85 was probably their worse Spell in their History Where all the won was 1 Spanish Cup! Ironicaly the same time period when they Lost to Liverpool and Aberdeen? 5 Euro Cup in a Row is still impressive though even in the 50s!
The Difference Between Milan in 1989 and Liverpool in 1984 is that Milan Won Comfortably proving they were the better team on the day whereas Liverpool's Game could have gone either way and they only won due to 2 awfull penalties by Roma! Real may have faced Easier Teams in the 50s but they proved it was no fluke by winning it 5 times in a Row!
United Have Beaten 2 Time Winners Benfica in a Final, After Beating then 6 time Winners Real in Semis before them, Bayern who had won it 3 times in a row (Something you never did) and then won it 2 years after we beat them. And Chelsea Who have become one of the firm favourites Last 4/5 Seasons! All QUALITY Teams all in there Best Eras! Let's See you Beat Real in Feb if you are such a "Giant!"
We beat Real Madrid and you say oh they weren't that good, how convinient. Liverpool got a bye?? We were champions of England. Winning the champions league 3 times in a row is something manure have never did either, after all you have won it only 3 times anyway. And as for Bayern winning it 3 times in a row, wasn't that in the 70's?? What has that got to with you beating them in the 90's???
It means they were a European Giant and hisory makers! and Bayern were a very good team in the late 90s and the early 00s The Season we beat them they were going for a treble as well! Chelsea got to 2 finals and were only 2 pts behind us in the league plus they have become a potential winner in the last few seasons and have been in a final and several Semi Finals! One Year Doesn't count as an "Era" anyway!
I wouldnt say Chelsea under Avram Grant was one of there best Era's, if it was Mourinho it would of been a different story.
Liverpool beat AC Milan in 2005 and Milan went on to win it in 2007 beating Liverpool. Milan have always been strong, after all they beat Manure in the semi's.
The likes of Brugge beat Juventus who at that time were winning Serie A all the time.
Your arguments are Childish. To dismiss a side that dominated England and Europe is nothing more than childish.
Nothing childish about it! Liverpool has only won it five times dues to luck, pens and playing weaker teams! Milan battered you in 2005 even when you got back to 3-3 they were clearly the better team and proved in in 2007 beating you without even trying! Brugge are not a legend or even a great team they only made 1 final appearance that like saying Arsenal are a European Giant! You didn't "Dominate" you just got an easy ride!
Liverpool got a Bye in the 1st round in the season this final was in! Roma and Milan You Only Beat on Penalties, and were not the better team in either Final! Real Weren't as Good a Team in the early 80s as they were in 50/60s or a few Years ago! Even Aberdeen beat them in 1983! As for the other two most they ever managed was 1 Final Appearance each. So Why You seem to think you are some Legendary Eurpoean Giants is Beyond Me!
Man Utd Deserved to win that Game and created the better chances apart from Chelski hitting the post twice they offered nothing and their goal was a lucky deflection which rebounded kindly! United have Beaten Good Teams in all their Finals 2 who were previous winners! Milan and Real are the Legends But if United Win and retain their title this year it will be a much bigger achivement than you beating 2 average teams in a row!
Whenever Alan Hansesn criticises "terrible defending" on Match of the Day, they should show him that replay of his passback to Ray Clemence. He just stood and watched after that mistake "shokcing defending" lol Good thing Phil Thompson was in the right place. :) Liverpool Domination, thanks for the vid.
so easy, eh? You had to win your league to qualify and in those days there was no guarantee. The pressure to do well was immense as you had to get it right on the night. There was no 'oh well, we know we are in the european cup by the end of March.
very well said man very well said, i love footy these days , but watchin the stuff my dad was watchin when he was my age is much better i think like i said todays is good though
Well it is when you get to play Brugges and Monchengladback in the Final! Liverpool have been lucky to win 5 Finals! 2 by Pens and 2 against Shite Opposition! Brugge didn't even try to defend or attack and nearly got an equaliser LOL! and it still Cesspool about 12chances to score! At least United had to beat Top Teams in their Finals In Bayern,Benfica,Chelski!
you are an idiot did'nt you know that club bruge beat teams like athletico madrid and italian champions juventus on the way to the final, and as for the german champions monchengladbach they defeated dynamo kiev who in the earlier round beat bayern munich, these teams who reached the final beat top class oppostion are you that stupid, teams like ajax, bayern munich, real madrid and the likes of benfica where obviously in the european cup these years, its just like porto beating man utd in 2004.
Well Athletico and Juventus couldn't have been much cope if they could beat them but then didn't even turn up in the final! As for Porto they had a game plan and a good Manager, plus a few decent players at the time like Deco, but also got lucky in that United Were denied a 2nd Goal in the 2nd for Offside (3 men were playing Scholes on), which would have made it 3-2 in the tie! So Should have got further than the 2nd Rd!
also did'nt you know that borussia monchengladbach were the dominant side in germany in the 70's i know they don't sound like a glamourously named club like bayern munich but it the side that counts, just look at there history at that time.
If they were that good they would have won the European Cup, they would have had enough attempts But only got to the Final Once! The German/Belgium League are not the top leagues! So the Best Teams From Italy/Spain/England would be favourites Look at the Teams Forest Played when they won it in 79! and 1980 They didn't get decent Opposition til Ajax in the Semis! It's Easierly much Harder to win these days!
It was harder to win in those days because it was ALL KNOCKOUT and it was real hard tackling football. So if German teams arent top opposition then what about Manure winning vs Bayern???? You're a jealous idiot
and it's still knockout now Dumbo! But Now instead of getting a piss easy team in the 1st Round you have to play 6 games and win at least 4 normally to get through! Plus most of the teams in the 2nd round can win the whole thing! Just look at Draw this season! Back then there was maybe 3/4 other teams who could have won it Ajax/Juve that season but cause they met in 1/4s Scouse Avoided them & got an easier run to the Final!
Jealous of what? You lot banging on winning finals that were 30 years ago against lesser opposition in a competition with less games you are deluded! We've won it Twice in Recent History and if we retain it this season we will have done something no one has done since Milan in 89/90 Celtic are good at home Villareal are a good team and Aallborg were unknown. Arse aren't a top side and Inter haven't got near the Final since 2003 when they got to Semis
Ok not winning the league in 19 years is poor but we have still won FA Cups, Uefa Cups, League Cups, Super Cups, Champions League and also we haven't had the money Ferguson has had over these years.
How lucky were Manure against Bayern Munich in 99!!!! Also you won Chelsea on pens so what are you babbling on about??
Manure have only been in 3 finals
Liverpool have been in 7 !!
If everything is so easy why haven't manure got 10 European Cups?????
Yeah and We've Won them all 4 Including Cup Winners Cup. It isn't easy 'now' It was back then which is why teams who weren't actually that good could get to Finals! United Weren't Lucky against Munich at All! That was Pesistence! Luck would have meant winning on Pens/Bad Refereeing after we had been outplayed Like L'pool in 2005! The Chelsea Game we were the better team and clearly Deserved to win so we deserved the luck we did get! But Chelsea got lucky with the Equaliser just b4 half time!
The Cup Winners Cup?? Are you having a laugh. It dosen't even exist anymore. Liverpool have won 3 Uefa Cups, something Manure have never done!! Who cares about the cup winners cup???
Mochengladbach were better than Munich because Munich couldnt get into Europe for them. Its obvious Bayern became more illustrious after that but that dosent mean Mochengladbach were weak.
Your like a child...it was easy then but not now, this happened so it dosent count. GROW UP!!!!
You're a typical Terry Christian tosser gobshite who is clearly jealous of everything Liverpool do.
Do you not realise that in the 70's and 80's the European Cup only featured the CHAMPIONS of there countrys.
Oh and Celtic are good at home....explains my point about you saying opposition is good just to suit your point.
Borussia Mochengladbach were BETTER than Bayern Munich back then!! Does that not enter your head. Is it all about name with you??? THEY WERE BETTER THAN BAYERN!!
Look at Celtics record at Home then They've Beaten Us, Milan, Juventus in Recent Years! Exactly ONLY the Champions of their Countries which meant a load of teams from weaker nations. Whereas NOW You Get all the Top Teams from the Top Countries and a harder route to the Final! If B Mochengbach were better than Bayern then How come Bayern Won 3 European Cup in a Row and Borussia only made 1 Final Appearance? Only Ajax and Real have managed that achievement! So JOG ON!
In that period in time Monchengladbach were better!! Im not saying there better than Bayern Munich as a whole but at that time Mochengladbach were better because they won
German Champions: 1970, 1971, 1975, 1976, 1977
UEFA Cup: 1975, 1979
Look at the facts, AT THAT TIME, They were the best team in Germany and reached a European Cup final.
Its really obvious Bayern have a better history but im talking about when Liverpool beat Monchegladbach!!
What about Real Madrid facing weak sides throughout the European Cup???
What about AC Milan facing weak sides throughout the European Cup???
What about Bayern Munich facing weak sides throughout the European Cup???
They all won European Cups in the 60's 70's and 80's !!!! So how come there wins are so brilliant and yet you say Liverpool face easy teams, AC Milan faced the likes of Vitosha during there 1988/89 European Cup win and Bucharest in the final...SO WHAT ABOUT THAT!!!!
The thing you just dont understand is that ALL the top sides in Europe featured in this tournament.
You fail to mention that on the way to Manure winning the 1967/68 tournament they faced Hibernians then Sarajevo then Gornik Zabrze then Madrid before facing Benfica, that dosen't look very hard but i bet it was
Yeah but not as many were potential winners the only previous winners in the 2nd round were Celtic,Benfica,Ajax,Juventus only 1 of Which Liverpool Played! About 3/4 of those teams are European nobodys who either never got to a final or only got to a final once!
Why are the BBC and ITV so strangely reluctant to ever show this stuff. They are ridiculously protective over it. As if people video recording it will make any difference to them. thank goodness for youtube.

Sent a 2 pound fifty postal order off for a ticket and was sent one by return post.
Great to see this footage after all these years, I was behind the goal Dalglish scored in. Fantastic moment.

By the way, my comment on the '86 to '90 ECs was meant to be in the paragraph below. I was claiming that the loss of English teams in those days (due to the Heysel ban) didn't devalue them either. I messed with the structure of my statement and didn't notice until I'd posted it.
kisbie 3 years ago
They won it in 60 and 66! But then they had a bad spell in the 70s and the 80s where they had to make do with Uefa cup and Euro Cup Winners Cup! 1980-85 was probably their worse Spell in their History Where all the won was 1 Spanish Cup! Ironicaly the same time period when they Lost to Liverpool and Aberdeen? 5 Euro Cup in a Row is still impressive though even in the 50s!
Cashback13 3 years ago
AC Milan, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich have all faced 'easy' teams according to your logic, so does that mean they didnt win there European Cups??
You seem to just totally apply it to Liverpool and forget other sides
How can Liverpool winning the European Cup in 1984 be any different to AC Milan winning it in 1989.
kingelnino9 3 years ago
The Difference Between Milan in 1989 and Liverpool in 1984 is that Milan Won Comfortably proving they were the better team on the day whereas Liverpool's Game could have gone either way and they only won due to 2 awfull penalties by Roma! Real may have faced Easier Teams in the 50s but they proved it was no fluke by winning it 5 times in a Row!

Manure in the 70's and 80's = NOWHERE!!!!!
kingelnino9 3 years ago
Liverpool the last 19 Years NOWHERE!
Cashback13 3 years ago
United Have Beaten 2 Time Winners Benfica in a Final, After Beating then 6 time Winners Real in Semis before them, Bayern who had won it 3 times in a row (Something you never did) and then won it 2 years after we beat them. And Chelsea Who have become one of the firm favourites Last 4/5 Seasons! All QUALITY Teams all in there Best Eras! Let's See you Beat Real in Feb if you are such a "Giant!"
Cashback13 3 years ago
Its all about what suits you best isn't it.
What has that got to with you beating them in the 90's???
kingelnino9 3 years ago
It means they were a European Giant and hisory makers! and Bayern were a very good team in the late 90s and the early 00s The Season we beat them they were going for a treble as well! Chelsea got to 2 finals and were only 2 pts behind us in the league plus they have become a potential winner in the last few seasons and have been in a final and several Semi Finals! One Year Doesn't count as an "Era" anyway!
Cashback13 3 years ago
I wouldnt say Chelsea under Avram Grant was one of there best Era's, if it was Mourinho it would of been a different story.
Liverpool beat AC Milan in 2005 and Milan went on to win it in 2007 beating Liverpool. Milan have always been strong, after all they beat Manure in the semi's.
The likes of Brugge beat Juventus who at that time were winning Serie A all the time.
Your arguments are Childish. To dismiss a side that dominated England and Europe is nothing more than childish.
kingelnino9 3 years ago
Nothing childish about it! Liverpool has only won it five times dues to luck, pens and playing weaker teams! Milan battered you in 2005 even when you got back to 3-3 they were clearly the better team and proved in in 2007 beating you without even trying! Brugge are not a legend or even a great team they only made 1 final appearance that like saying Arsenal are a European Giant! You didn't "Dominate" you just got an easy ride!
Cashback13 3 years ago
Liverpool faced the dominant German side Borussia Monchengladbach,
Then the dominant Belgian side Club Brugge
Then the dominant Spanish Side Real Madrid
Then the dominant Italian side Roma
Then dominant side AC Milan.
If its so bloody easy then why hasn't any London based club ever won it?? Why have Manure only won it 3 times if its so easy??
YOUR JUST JEALOUS OF LIVERPOOLS BRILLIANT HISTORY
kingelnino9 3 years ago
Liverpool got a Bye in the 1st round in the season this final was in! Roma and Milan You Only Beat on Penalties, and were not the better team in either Final! Real Weren't as Good a Team in the early 80s as they were in 50/60s or a few Years ago! Even Aberdeen beat them in 1983! As for the other two most they ever managed was 1 Final Appearance each. So Why You seem to think you are some Legendary Eurpoean Giants is Beyond Me!
Cashback13 3 years ago
The likes of Mochengladbach were dominating Germany!! To dismiss them is Childish
Manure beat Chelsea on penalties, so whats your point?? Does it not count if you win on penalties or something?? IDIOT!
Real Madrid were constantly winning La Liga
Liverpool have won 5 European Cups, dominated England AND Europe during the 70's and 80's (something when it comes to Europe MANURE have NOT done)
If its so easy where the fuck were Manure in the 70's and 80's????? They were
NOWHERE!!!!!
kingelnino9 3 years ago
Man Utd Deserved to win that Game and created the better chances apart from Chelski hitting the post twice they offered nothing and their goal was a lucky deflection which rebounded kindly! United have Beaten Good Teams in all their Finals 2 who were previous winners! Milan and Real are the Legends But if United Win and retain their title this year it will be a much bigger achivement than you beating 2 average teams in a row!

We are clearly not agreeing so lets just agree to differ

Whenever Alan Hansesn criticises "terrible defending" on Match of the Day, they should show him that replay of his passback to Ray Clemence. He just stood and watched after that mistake "shokcing defending" lol Good thing Phil Thompson was in the right place. :) Liverpool Domination, thanks for the vid.
chocolatebicycle 3 years ago 2
so easy, eh? You had to win your league to qualify and in those days there was no guarantee. The pressure to do well was immense as you had to get it right on the night. There was no 'oh well, we know we are in the european cup by the end of March.

very well said man very well said, i love footy these days , but watchin the stuff my dad was watchin when he was my age is much better i think like i said todays is good though
gerrardfan1998 3 years ago
It was soooo easy to win in them days!
jhanlon18 3 years ago
Well it is when you get to play Brugges and Monchengladback in the Final! Liverpool have been lucky to win 5 Finals! 2 by Pens and 2 against Shite Opposition! Brugge didn't even try to defend or attack and nearly got an equaliser LOL! and it still Cesspool about 12chances to score! At least United had to beat Top Teams in their Finals In Bayern,Benfica,Chelski!
Cashback13 3 years ago
you are an idiot did'nt you know that club bruge beat teams like athletico madrid and italian champions juventus on the way to the final, and as for the german champions monchengladbach they defeated dynamo kiev who in the earlier round beat bayern munich, these teams who reached the final beat top class oppostion are you that stupid, teams like ajax, bayern munich, real madrid and the likes of benfica where obviously in the european cup these years, its just like porto beating man utd in 2004.
kingelnino9 3 years ago
Well Athletico and Juventus couldn't have been much cope if they could beat them but then didn't even turn up in the final! As for Porto they had a game plan and a good Manager, plus a few decent players at the time like Deco, but also got lucky in that United Were denied a 2nd Goal in the 2nd for Offside (3 men were playing Scholes on), which would have made it 3-2 in the tie! So Should have got further than the 2nd Rd!
Cashback13 3 years ago
also did'nt you know that borussia monchengladbach were the dominant side in germany in the 70's i know they don't sound like a glamourously named club like bayern munich but it the side that counts, just look at there history at that time.
German Champions: 1970, 1971, 1975, 1976, 1977
UEFA Cup: winners 1975, 1979
kingelnino9 3 years ago
If they were that good they would have won the European Cup, they would have had enough attempts But only got to the Final Once! The German/Belgium League are not the top leagues! So the Best Teams From Italy/Spain/England would be favourites Look at the Teams Forest Played when they won it in 79! and 1980 They didn't get decent Opposition til Ajax in the Semis! It's Easierly much Harder to win these days!
Cashback13 3 years ago
Are people just retarded for the sake of it???
Juventus dominated Italian football in that period you idiot!!!
kingelnino9 3 years ago
It was harder to win in those days because it was ALL KNOCKOUT and it was real hard tackling football. So if German teams arent top opposition then what about Manure winning vs Bayern???? You're a jealous idiot
kingelnino9 3 years ago
and it's still knockout now Dumbo!
Cashback13 3 years ago
It was all KNOCKOUT back then!!
And did you not check out who Manure got last season in the knockout, the average LYON AND ROMA!!
Hardly the teams Liverpool faced, INTER MILAN AND ARSENAL!!!
Did you not see Manures crappy group this year??? Celtic, Villereal and Allborg.
Your just clearly jealous mate!!
kingelnino9 3 years ago
Jealous of what? You lot banging on winning finals that were 30 years ago against lesser opposition in a competition with less games you are deluded! We've won it Twice in Recent History and if we retain it this season we will have done something no one has done since Milan in 89/90 Celtic are good at home Villareal are a good team and Aallborg were unknown. Arse aren't a top side and Inter haven't got near the Final since 2003 when they got to Semis
Cashback13 3 years ago
Ok not winning the league in 19 years is poor but we have still won FA Cups, Uefa Cups, League Cups, Super Cups, Champions League and also we haven't had the money Ferguson has had over these years.
How lucky were Manure against Bayern Munich in 99!!!! Also you won Chelsea on pens so what are you babbling on about??
Manure have only been in 3 finals
Liverpool have been in 7 !!
If everything is so easy why haven't manure got 10 European Cups?????
kingelnino9 3 years ago
Yeah and We've Won them all 4 Including Cup Winners Cup. It isn't easy 'now' It was back then which is why teams who weren't actually that good could get to Finals! United Weren't Lucky against Munich at All! That was Pesistence! Luck would have meant winning on Pens/Bad Refereeing after we had been outplayed Like L'pool in 2005! The Chelsea Game we were the better team and clearly Deserved to win so we deserved the luck we did get! But Chelsea got lucky with the Equaliser just b4 half time!
Cashback13 3 years ago
The Cup Winners Cup?? Are you having a laugh. It dosen't even exist anymore. Liverpool have won 3 Uefa Cups, something Manure have never done!! Who cares about the cup winners cup???
Mochengladbach were better than Munich because Munich couldnt get into Europe for them. Its obvious Bayern became more illustrious after that but that dosent mean Mochengladbach were weak.
Your like a child...it was easy then but not now, this happened so it dosent count. GROW UP!!!!
kingelnino9 3 years ago
So if 'BACK THEN' it was easy for teams who weren't actually any good to reach a final
WHAT ABOUT BAYERNS EUROPEAN CUP WINS???
WHAT ABOUT AC MILANS EUROPEAN CUP WINS??
WHAT ABOUT REAL MADRIDS EUROPEAN CUP WINS??
WHAT ABOUT MANURES EUROPEAN CUP WIN IN THE 60'S????
So like you say back then, "meant a load of teams from weaker nations" entered the European Cup.
So does that mean Madrids European cup wins are devalued??
If you say it about Liverpool then it applys to EVERYONE!!
kingelnino9 3 years ago
You're a typical Terry Christian tosser gobshite who is clearly jealous of everything Liverpool do.
Do you not realise that in the 70's and 80's the European Cup only featured the CHAMPIONS of there countrys.
Oh and Celtic are good at home....explains my point about you saying opposition is good just to suit your point.
Borussia Mochengladbach were BETTER than Bayern Munich back then!! Does that not enter your head. Is it all about name with you??? THEY WERE BETTER THAN BAYERN!!
kingelnino9 3 years ago
Look at Celtics record at Home then They've Beaten Us, Milan, Juventus in Recent Years! Exactly ONLY the Champions of their Countries which meant a load of teams from weaker nations. Whereas NOW You Get all the Top Teams from the Top Countries and a harder route to the Final! If B Mochengbach were better than Bayern then How come Bayern Won 3 European Cup in a Row and Borussia only made 1 Final Appearance? Only Ajax and Real have managed that achievement! So JOG ON!
Cashback13 3 years ago
In that period in time Monchengladbach were better!! Im not saying there better than Bayern Munich as a whole but at that time Mochengladbach were better because they won
German Champions: 1970, 1971, 1975, 1976, 1977
UEFA Cup: 1975, 1979
Look at the facts, AT THAT TIME, They were the best team in Germany and reached a European Cup final.
Its really obvious Bayern have a better history but im talking about when Liverpool beat Monchegladbach!!
kingelnino9 3 years ago
What about Real Madrid facing weak sides throughout the European Cup???
What about AC Milan facing weak sides throughout the European Cup???
What about Bayern Munich facing weak sides throughout the European Cup???
They all won European Cups in the 60's 70's and 80's !!!! So how come there wins are so brilliant and yet you say Liverpool face easy teams, AC Milan faced the likes of Vitosha during there 1988/89 European Cup win and Bucharest in the final...SO WHAT ABOUT THAT!!!!
kingelnino9 3 years ago
The thing you just dont understand is that ALL the top sides in Europe featured in this tournament.
You fail to mention that on the way to Manure winning the 1967/68 tournament they faced Hibernians then Sarajevo then Gornik Zabrze then Madrid before facing Benfica, that dosen't look very hard but i bet it was
kingelnino9 3 years ago
Yeah but not as many were potential winners the only previous winners in the 2nd round were Celtic,Benfica,Ajax,Juventus only 1 of Which Liverpool Played! About 3/4 of those teams are European nobodys who either never got to a final or only got to a final once!
