  • response to one of the first points made; almost everyone wants someone to believe in, to talk to, to think about, to accompany us in this otherwise cold and LONELY existance. it is called a FRIEND, sometimes of the boy- or girl- variety. by the logic displayed in the first 14 seconds, friends don't exist, so everyone needs to believe in god.

  • @DUCKY3654 D: i looked at the titles of your other videos, and have found that this video is a psuedopoe! my refutation is still valid, though.

  • I hope you realize this video only made you look weak and dependant on someone else to hold your hand through life. Blind faith is not good for people. You only make believers look insicure and completely dependant on something other than themselves to solve their problems. I am a non-believer, and proud.

  • @ProAtEverything123 (It's a parody)

  • so all you end up saying is that you are to weak minded and need that imaginary friend and you need to not know about the place you call home, you need to be ignorant of all the processes that occur around you everyday. you say you want to be ignorant of any and everything that would take to much effort to figure out. well you can keep that. curiosity is a great thing and you just throw it away for no reason whatsoever, you are closeminded, and most obviously willfully ignorant

  • This is actually a primary problem I have with religions with a confession system. You can do all the horrible things you want except usually it seems one thing that can't be forgiven, and then you can say sorry to someone you can't even see who was on neither the giving or receiving end of what you did, and this uninvolved entity can grant you forgiveness. Imagine someone did that to you, would you be okay with that?

and my final point. Desire does not reality make.

  • @KevinLounsberry I'm quite sure this is a parody, check top comments.

  • Hitler was a Roman Catholic.

    Catholic priests raped small children.

9/11 bombers blew up the World Trade Center buildings.

The Catholic Church recommended not using condoms for health reasons (seeing as how they are the medical experts...not).

The Middle East has been utterly divided and thrown into chaos by religion.

Religion has inspired racism, homophobia, and misogyny.

Millions of people have been killed in the name of religion.

Must I continue with reasons to NOT have religion?

  • @bookwormsrcool Amen to that! Haha. I live a beautiful, peaceful life without religion! :)

  • I love the smell of parody in the morning.

  • oh blah blah. another person who thinks that "faith" is a logical thing. Sorry to tell you, but faith isn't he opposite of logic. You only have "faith" when your human expectations for logic limit you. You have faith for the same reasons that children believe in Santa Claus. Grow up and realize there is no more tooth fairy.

  • You have a very flawed way of thinking my friend, you want to reduce yourself to a mindless robot who is inferior to a higher being.

  • Well put.

There is a way, a tao, a path, a reason to lived! Because whether or not you are a believer, you were born into this fascinating world.

    On the other hand, just as religion has been used as a tool for good, it has been proved a tool of destruction, so hopefully we can learn to live better education and observing histories flaws, but one thing is for sure, we needed the argument of the atheist to come to this enlightening in itself, so in my mind, one symbol remains true;

    Yin Yang.

  • Edward Current with a british accent

  • I am an atheist. I don't want you to stop believing or doing what ever you want to be happy. All I ask is that you keep it to yourself and keep your faith out of anything to do with having any influence over me and my non-supernatural beliefs.

  • "... to talk to" I agreed with you about everything aside from this, you just sound crasy, sorry.

    I'm an Atheist.

  • Atheists ARE aware of the comfort of believing in something bigger than ourselves with some kind of divine plan. However, we cannot CHOOSE to believe something that we do not believe in. I would love to turn to a religion that gave me true comfort , but that comfort would never really mean anything. I would always know that it's not what I truly believe. I would be a fake. Am I willing to fake and force myself just so that I can feel comforted? No.

  • "..someone to believe in.."

the 4th commandment states thou shall not kill, yet your supposed god flooded the entire world, killing millions upon millions of humans, animals, plants, and life.

*but, i guess it's okay in that case because your supposed god is allowed to be a hypocrite..

  • mrjans11,God saved me in a motel rm by myself.I was getting ready to go find a Bar and have some fun,but God chose for me to pick up the Gideon Bible so He could speak to me,through reading,I was "BORN AGAIN".

  • are you joking...? or not? well, i hope you are otherwise i'm quite surprised. so, what did you read in the bible?? because there are a lot of evil, vicious stuff (especially in the old testament) that god wanted his followers to do - are you busy stoning truant children?

  • Unbelievers have no idea about salvation,it would be like trying to explain the color blue to someone who has been blind from birth.

  • i haven't been blind since birth - i was brought up in a religious home, gone to a religious school. i understand the IDEA of salvation but it is senseless - do u really just want to be on this earth to be saved? by some invisible entity? why do you need a god?

  • Understanding the idea of salvation and knowing when you have it are like the difference between someone who understands what a heart attack is and having one.

  • Isn't it staggering, the number of people who cannot see that "X is comforting" does not imply "X" is true; and isn't it also staggering how many people of faith don't understand how atheists can lead happy and fulfilled lives? I as an atheist don't need God to provide meaning in my life; I don't need God to get me through the night. What gets me through the night is a love of science, love of nature, love of the world, love of literature, love of art, love of people, love of children and so on.

  • I worship God because He supernaturally saved me,that is something a none believer will never understand unless it happens to them.

  • Oh, the old "argument from personal revelation". I'm sorry, I'm not impressed by that. You may think that you have been "saved" by God, but there are other people who think that they are Napoleon, or who think that they are made of glass and will shatter if touched, or who think that they can transmit their thoughts into another's mind. They "know" this with as much certainty as you "know" that you have been saved by God; but there's no reason for the rest of us to believe them, or you.

  • I dont understand...this argument at all. Science can only get you so far. It doesnt explain half the things it should be able to. It cant explain death...what is death? Faiths say its when the source of conciousness leaves the body, leaving an empty shell, a corpse...what does science say?

Its not so much about worshiping something or an old man sitting up in the sky somewhere which is what people seem to think god is.. its about channeling spiritual energy, and spiritual development

  • i'll give you the spiritual energy and development but why do you need a "someone", an entity, a saviour to have reason to be positive and find spiritual well-being? as far as i know, science says death is when your heart stops beating.

  • I did not choose to be saved,Jesus chose me for salvation.I never understood what it meant until it happened in a motel room,by myself,as I planned to go out and party.Needless to say the party was cancelled.

  • Ok so why does ur heart stop beating?

Thers something beyond that called Will.

there is will inside each and every one of us that keeps us alive. its not just a mechanical process. a wheel doesnt turn because it feels like turning. something has to create that process. its the same with people. we're not just alive because we're machines and thats the way things go. its because we want to be, think about when people are severely unhappy with their lives they may become unwell. .. cont

  • Thats because they loose their will. they become weaker because they no longer want to carry on.

Science explains the bare minimum my friend. it really does.

  • happiness has nothing to do with religion, right? i really enjoy and respect ur perspective so i don't wanna go on forever and argue with you. i just don't necessarily believe in something after this life, because my mind can't grasp that right now :p "what makes life so sweet, is that it never comes again" i'd recommend reading some of R. Dawkins' work. he puts a good argument in that we don't need religion ect to appreciate the beauty and awe of this life we have here. peace

  • I get where ur coming from. Of course happiness has nothing to do with religion. lol, ahh this isnt an argument. it is but a discussion among friends.

aha, I get what u mean by finding it hard to believe in something after this life, but it sounds to me as though your vision of life after death is paradise? or heaven? Somewhere up in the clouds?

I agree, life doesnt come again, and deffinately dont need ot to appreciate this world! Good perspective.

  • i appreciate your genuinity!& i apologize for using 'argument' - most of the people on here just cuss and give their point of view and disregard urs, so thanks for that :) i was brought up to believe i was going to sit on some guy's lap for the rest of eternity but through a lot of education i obviously know that's not going to happen! we can only live for now and when death comes, we'll "know" what "happens" then :)

  • but don't you sometimes look at something in this world and marvel at it? Who or rather what could have created such beauty?

  • yes of course, every day!! this planet is so profoundly beautiful and 'unreal' even :p i guess i can't get to the idea of something (who/what) 'creating' the "entire" universe for humans' purpose? maybe we're just organisms who evolved on this planet to be able to have discussions such as we are! one day we shall all know the truth, i suppose (or not, which won't be that bad either :) thanks for a refreshingly friendly and informing 'conversation' :)

  • Thanks i'll deffinately look that up!

  • You're looking at belief from a very christian perspective. the entity you speak of i;m assuming is Jesus Christ?

You certainly don't need to have a someone or entity.

not everybody does. not everyone has. not every religion has.

  • some of your argument i get but some of it don't...your heart stops beating for multiple reasons i.e. stop of bloodflow to it. i don't clearly understand what u mean by will?so if u hv enuf will you don't die? i'm not a supporter of creation so i can't support your theory of 'something has to create that process' -i'd like to believe there's something more to us than just being here destroying the planet but if there's not, i won't be too sad because im enjoying myself right here right now peace

  • I believe in myself. Why do I need religion, or faith? Confidence can warm anyone. Cold and lonely is no reason to believe in imago dei, (imaginary deity). Talk to people you love.

God and religion are mythological plagiarism. That past belief(s) have been disproved by logic and science.

  • That "imaginary deity" Died for you man. Its real. Jesus loves you.

  • I agree, if we are discussing philosophy. I have issues. Those who will not live up, to the words of Jesus. You are judging me, an atheist, to gain control.

"... let your light so shine before man," not on to, said Jesus. Get it?

That is what religion is about, to enslave.

I believe in myself. Logic and science are here, not the past, when men created deities explain the unknown, and controlled others, using violence.

Something created this, but had no control over its outcome.

  • MeLuvMami - I relish the opportunity to cross swords again, ha ha! Jesus died for other peoples sins, MLM, not ours. Jesus has no love to give. He isnt the messiah, he's a very naughty boy.

  • for a ReaL vid from A TRUE Christian that touches on this subject see my vid called "Atheists Make Sense? 12"

  • It makes me sad to see that other atheists commenting on the video couldn't see the meaning of the video. It was a satire. Not necessarily a comedic one, but it was.

  • This must be satire.

  • Yeah, it is. Nobody with that much thought and depth could possibly be religious. Also, he's British.

  • All we need to do is educate, the trend in the educated world is towards secularism. We have already taken religion out of most modern and developed governments and the citizens will slowly but surely follow. Religion will soon be as minuscule as astrology. Just give it time, it will happen

  • I worship manbearpig,

RELIGION IS BULLSHIT RELIGION IS BULLSHIT RELIGION IS BULLSHIT RELIGION IS BULLSHIT RELIGION IS BULLSHIT RELIGION IS BULLSHIT RELIGION IS BULLSHIT RELIGION IS BULLSHIT RELIGION IS BULLSHIT RELIGION IS BULLSHIT RELIGION IS BULLSHIT RELIGION IS BULLSHIT RELIGION IS BULLSHIT RELIGION IS BULLSHIT RELIGION IS BULLSHIT RELIGION IS BULLSHIT RELIGION IS BULLSHIT RELIGION IS BULLSHIT RELIGION IS BULLSHIT RELIGION IS BULLSHIT RELIGION IS BULLSHIT RELIGION IS BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!

  • Athiests believe in none belief

  • That's all fine and dandy. Play your pretend god worshiping games, but keep them out of the fucking government, and stop spreading them to children and telling them it's fucking REAL! Keep your crazy shit to yourself. That's what you theists always miss about the faith.

  • Are you aware of sarcasm? Well you are now!! It is fantastically demonstrated in this video. Sarcasm is one of the best attributes of British culture. Keep up the good work victimlesscriminal, on behalf of all free thinking atheists who, more than ever, need to have a voice in these worryingly oppressive times. After having viewed and enjoyed all of your videos, I have subscribed to your channel.

YOU TUBE - REINSTATE PATS' SHARIA LAW VIDEO NOW!!!! signed, one pissed off atheist.

  • Who are these atheists that say to worship humans or the sun? I've never met one and I would never, ever say that. Nice strawman.

  • Wait a sec, I'm lost. The last 40 seconds talks about how to get rid of religion if I'm not mistaken, and forgive me if I am. But... I dunno. The first 7 minutes made sense to me, just not the last 40 seconds.

  • It's called sarcasm. A great British trait, well demonstrated in this video.

  • Mmmm... I smell sarcasm and parody. Sweet video :)

  • I just caught on, too. He does get a bit deragatory toward believers at the end.

  • Faith = belief in something that lacks evidence.

    What's so great about that?

"I have faith that the Magic Pink Unicorn will carry me over the rainbow someday."

Is the comfort I get from that faith rational? Productive?

    Is comfort better than truth?

  • This narrator is doing the same thing as atheist are. You atheists, you atheists, you atheists. Everyone is the same to them. I hear religious ppl say the same thing. You dont understand. No, you dont. Believing in a religion just cause your scared of the unknown is not truly believing. I CANT put faith in something I cant see because deep inside, I dont believe. I cant say that one particular religion has more validity than the other. I guess I will burn. Maybe "God" should have made be dumber.

  • Indeed we should look back and scream, and be embarrassed at the fact that you are part of a faith that has used its power to destroy and manipulate people and cultures for the last 2000 years.

  • Keeping the priests away from the children would be a start.

The get them off the air waves. Tell your cable tv provider that you don't like them broadcasting hard core sekteric indoctrination on week end mornings where children are at risk of being exposed to moneygrabbing religioluos filth.

And yes I tend to agree with BDance: Guns!

    - and bonfire, let the pricks taste their own medicine.

  • Also, why would it ever be necessary to worship anything at all?

Worship itself is unnecessary, a waste, and ridiculous.

    You miss the point.

  • Who the fuck suggests to 'worship humanity'? No atheist I know, and it's certainly not an inherently atheistic principle.

Also, who the fuck suggests to worship the sun, either? Besides, if mystery and potential was the valuable part of worship, you'd do better to worship the universe itself. That has more mystery and potential than any current gods. The difference is that you all CLAIM to 'know' your gods, taking all the mystery away.

Sorry bub, but you fail hard. Try again.

  • Guns.

    Next question. ;)

  • i have faith that there is no god every day i thank god that i am not a muslim islam is evil why worship anything why not just appreciate?
  • I like this video though.

It points out the psychological handicap that causes a continued belief and dependence that you guys have.

I think most of you know that religion is bull shit, but you are dependent on the emotional reasurance that worshiping brings.

  • All good and well, but I don't want to talk to some motherfucker who can't talk back.

    Reality kicks ass.

  • In answer to your last question, if we can't keep tyhe religous out of the power centres with logic, we'll do it with force.

  • Well, I for one am grateful to have Jesus Christ in my life. I've gone through almost a year of despair (back in 1999), and thought I had no bright future. I found out there was even deliverance from THAT! And I certainly don't take credit for my high grades in college or the courage I found to go skydiving last October. I'd thought God had left me, and I came across so many "Godincidences" that my despair finally dissipated in time. I even wrote "Trinity," one of my over 40 poems, afterwards.

  • Lavenderrose73 - have you ever thought that it is that it is YOU achieving high grades at college, or YOU that was able to skydive, or even you that managed to write over 40 poems?!! Are you that dim that everything good that happens in your life is down to a divine blob in the sky? Why can't you take responsibility and credit for your own life and see that it is YOU and YOU alone that does these things? I finally woke up to this realisation and I haven't looked back since.

  • Because I believe in the power of prayer. Agree with me, disagree with me, but I stand where I stand. 'Nuff said.

  • I think its all about rational thought, or the absence of rational thought, like in Islam. I've noticed the clerics are being opposed in Canada at least, especially the unreformed religious types in Islam. People like Ezra Levant, and Mark Steyn, who are challenged the idea of fear and supremecy of elements, moslty new, in Canadian Society. I assume Britain may be much more overwhelmed by the power hungry clerics of religion, but in Canada at least, there is a greater resistance. Great Vid!

  • if you can talk to god in prayer. please ask him what the fuck is going on with the world today. its full of death and greed

  • "an invisible being or force that we cannot ever control"

sounds like gravity, which you already discounted. gravity is the engine that drives the stars, which creates all the elements between helium and iron. gravity is the engine that drives supernovas, which create elements heavier than iron

but that's all beside the point you are making

  • ahahaaha, just because we dont believe in god doesnt mean we dont have anything to hope on, we would just like to prove to you that youre all praying on false hope. "God" is a story, a figure of imagination, a contradictory piece of shit created by people who got bored and didn't think twice. And they accidentally got billions of believers, and why? Because they were too distracted by the idea of god to figure out the fact that it was a simple fraud.

  • XxTimeToKillxX: If you had watched until the bitter end you would have seen a very clear message from a committed atheist!!! Suggest you look at some of his other vids, in particular 'religion was caused by fear of the abyss'.

  • worshiping yourself is selfish? how many fucking christians are out there with much higher than average incomes, who are living the AMERICAN LIFESTYLE... which is oh so fucking gluttonous. dont give me that stupid guilt trip... its non-sense. just like your entire argument. tl;dw

  • By the way... brilliant video

  • I understand why it's important you "believers" need something to believe in, in this "cold and lonely existence" because "you don't love yourselves" - that's what happens when from the moment you're born, you're indoctrinated into a cult employing emotional abuse in the form of telling people they're cursed from the moment they're born with some bogus "original sin" they had nothing to do with. What a great way to wipe out someone's self-esteem so you can then sell them your religious "answer"

  • You have yourself a new subscriber. Nicely done.

  • I meant do not*

  • I, like many other atheists, need the rational, logical, 'see-to-believe' evidence which we just cannot find in Christianity or any branches of it. I honestly do try to not pipe up and voice my opinion in religious debates (which I strongly despise having) although when I do I am always ripped down by the Christian and/or Catholic with which I am speaking and it is that, the ignorance and thought of greatness above others, that I cannot stand and strive to keep away from.

  • I like this video, I am atheist per say, although I do classify myself as one since technically it is a religion as it is a system of beliefs-believing in nothing which I emphasise on not having; but for the sake of this I will call myself one. I try, I really do try to understand how people can possibly believe anything that has come from a book over a thousand years old which we have little to no proof that it is real.

  • You make lovely points but it doesn't change the fact that you have no proof for your God and never will.

  • Let me start by saying that I am a strong atheist.

I really like this video. You make actual good points, and brought me somewhat closer to understanding Christians at a fairly deep level.

You actually address the arguments that Atheists make, which is EXTREMELY rare. Christians often set up a straw man argument, which only frustrates those they are debating.

  • You present it as a way of thinking which has advantages and disadvantages, just as atheism does.

But unfortunately, atheists DO have the real-world advantage of truth, and the importance of being objective and honest rather than believing in something for which there is no good reason to believe other than the advantages that it brings. But atheists do this too, just in other ways.

Congratulations, you have brought us closer together.

  • Brilliant! Subscribed.

  • Yes, God can be criticized...the "Idea" of God is what we criticize.

There is No need to see a concept in the flesh in order to refute it.

  • holy crap. 5 star, favorite, subscribed.

What impresses me most is that I didn't hear a hint of irony or sarcasm in your whole speech.

  • Virtuousness.

Human kind has the ability and the will if applied to strive to make Heaven on Earth for just that little short time we have here (but the longer the better and more fulfilling).

Death is inevitable. If there is an afterlife it will take care of it's self, and if there is a god...then if we lead a life of Virtuousness (the common denominator of peace and harmony amongst all humankind) and a respect for the symbiosis of all life on Earth...

    1/L

  • ...then I am sure if there is a god we will have god's approval.

We can make it so that we at least live in one heaven (on earth), and if there is a second heaven in an after life then that would just be great (but this is not a sure thing).

When I am alone I do not seek for any god, but I seek for a good friend that I feel safe with and can openly speak with, without being judged or persecuted. A friend can respond, help me, provide food, drink and shelter when in need...can god?

    2/L

  • Congrats. Another fresh nugget in there. The bit about men who are dissatisfied with the soiled and sullied nature of the real world, and so dream up a perfect world, one that they will be an expert on, and a leader of.

  • Another fantastic video, keep it up man.

  • I watched and that last minute honestly scares me more then I care to say. Subbed and 5 starred

  • Wow.. Talk about a complete misunderstanding and ignorance about atheists. Insulting to humanity as a whole.

Better study the history of your religion as if you did you would not have made 1/2 the claims you did. Most misery is due to religious doctrine .. and putting something "beyond" criticism is noting more than an excuse to continue ignorant blind faith behaviors that should have been left in the dark ages.

  • You didn't watch until the very end did you? hehe

  • Wow, that was deep! ... great message though!

  • Why are these religious freaks called 'people of faith'? I'm a person of faith - faith in myself. I don't need any ranting imam or priest in a frock swinging incense or scarlet-robed bishoprick (typo) to tell me who I am and what I must feel and what I must do about who I am and what I feel. It takes courage to break out of the mould, and I haven't looked back since I did, but it was bloody hard to extricate myself from the thick goo of god's omnipresence.

  • IceneBoudicca. Thanks for taking the time to express such powerful and relevant thoughts.

If we keep on working together we really might see the world turning to reason and common-sense instead of these superstition-based quangos.

  • Good take. EdwardCurrent would be proud of you.

  • "unchanging laws"

    *shudder*

Any legal system that is locked in stone and so can't adapt to the changing world or give proper consideration to undreamt of mitigating circumstances; is a scary thing indeed.

  • Your question scares the crap out of me. I don't know the answer. We have people with Iron-Age beliefs, with their fingers on the triggers of 21st century weaponry. People who are waiting and yearning of the 'End of Days'. If we don't find an answer to your question soon, I fear there will soon be no one left to try and answer it. :(

  • 7 minutes of masturbation to argument of comfort.

  • Did you watch the very end???

  • You missed the point. victimlesscriminal is an atheist. He's being ironical to make a point.

  • satirical?

  • Perhaps a better choice of word, yes.

  • I apologize, I'm a dumbass. I missed the very last part of the video, sorry.

  • I might have made the very same mistake if I wasn't subscribed to his channel and already knew what his position was. It's not really apparent what his point is right up to the last 10 seconds.

  • victimlesscriminal, I was not able to respond to your PM because I'm not on your friends list. I did indeed miss the end of the video.

I'm a dumbass, serves me right.

  • Focus on secularism???

  • I was about to adress the later issues you brought up (ie: how do you get out of bed, who do you pray to when your mother is ill), when I reached the end of your video and realised your arguement, needless to say I need not explain these things to you =).

Fantastically done, I actually felt sorry for you, felt bad about the number of people whose minds I have tried to jump-start into critical thinking - and still do, but have again remembered that comfort does not equal freedom. Thanks!

  • I totally understand your viewpoint, and do not think it is idiotic to "worship" a deity. Having said that, I personally do not feel that the bible is necessary for these beliefs, nor to appreciate the beauty of such a mysterious universe.

You are very soft spoken, which I find refreshing, despite our difference of belief.

I would like to comment also that while I may debate religion, it is only because of the bias it breeds. I have nothing against the idea of a diety seperate from religion.
