To my opinion Ruby was, in Dallas , a very very Big Man who made it contrary to some opinions ( like Harod Weisberg & others ) who considered Jack Ruby as a " punk" !!!!! No Jack Ruby had many connections ,lot of friends in Dallas . This "Big-Heart" Man played a major role during the Dallas Tragic events !!!!!

I think Ruby took his dog along because if he was prevented from shooting Ruby, he had to leave town immediately before being whacked himself & would have no time to go back for the dog. That's why he had all that cash in the trunk.

But he knew he would probably not be coming back & might very well be shot by the cops, so he wanted his dog to be alright. That's why he left the car unlocked, so someone would take care of the dog.
