HE DID NOT QUALIFY, that is the whole point. If you knew anything about sport, then you would know that he did not pass any qualifying races. Compettiors from serious nations MUST score a number of World Cup points in order to participate in the Olympics, The Ethiopian "competitor" has never scored a single world cup point. If sport should be fun then explain to me how fun it is for those who actually HAVE scored WC points , that cannot competet in the Olympics

Not true, everybody CANT TRY, there are thousands of skiiers in Norway, Sweden etc that are 100 times better, but they WILL NOT get a chance of going to the Olympics.

Reversed racism, if you are from Norway, and top 20 in the world you cant go to the olympics, but if you bottom 25 in the world and from Ethiopia, then you can go.

Stop whining. He was qualified to participate. Don't make it seem he got a special treatment because he represented Ethiopia. I am sure the Olympic committee knew what they were doing when they let him participate. You are not in any position to judge. Frizonfan, you know nothing about sports, Judges?, there are no judges that set the standard, it is the Ethiopian Olympics commitee that decides to send a joke to the Olympics.

Of course ha got a special treatment, if a Scandinavian skiier performed like the Ethiopian, they would not be allowed near an olympic skirace, not even a national school race. If he was judged to the same standard as Russian and Scandinavian skliers, he would not even be allowed to carry the team bag.

@urbanosowich The reality my friend is the best from each country compete against each other...using your logic that means that athletes from Finland would only be limited to compete in events that they are really good at (which by the way is not many events). I was 22nd in the Swedish National Championship, but I will not be picked by the Swedish team selectors, yet I think even our junior Women would ski faster than this guy?

you were born in Sweden - where nordic skiing is like the national sport....of course you guys have much more resources and opportunities to train etc. Why not just appreciate other people´s accomplishments - try look at the bigger picture instead of just being mad ignorant.

The qualifying height for high jump in Summer Olympics is 2.11, can I please qualify anyway because it is soo cold in Sweden most of the year and I have only ever managed to jump 1.81

Now the truth is this "ethiopian" has lived in the US for over 15 years and trained skiing in the US, but changed his story to gain a place in the Olympics...Im afraid I cant watch him in the olympics, they only show the first 60 skiers in Swedish TV

11 minutes behind in a race that takes 32 minutes!!! He should have gone to the Winter Olympics as a spectator, the Swedish TV commentator took a gold in the 2006 Olympics and would probably been about 5mins behind the winner.

If you are not good enuff, go as a tourist not as an "athlete"

As a cross country skier I have to say that I belive in this man.

It's such an hard preparation for everyone, but he just have passion. An example for sport.
