  • you kinda look like ben affleck

  • @photorenta kind of more like Dave Grohl if you asked me

  • Too many contradictions. Nice idea reviewing, I just think you need to have a talent & understanding of words / albums in order to do it.

  • @penusorus kk, fuck off now

  • I'm 2 minutes in... & you've already contradicted yourself.

    Sarcastically talking about guitar overdubs "really? that many?";

To immediately move to saying, "a deep sound... which is deep sonically. Which is awesome".

Hmm. Doesn't really justify listening to the rest of the review, but I will give it a go.

  • This is the best album ( bar none ) of the 90's. Mayonaise is a killer song but Hummer is the best song on the album. And sorry man but Geek USA is awesome. Jimmy Chamberlain absolutely beats the living hell outta the drums on that one. Anyway thanks for the review. Great job dude!

  • listening to siamese dream reminds me of the first time i listened downward spiral

  • One of the things I love about this album is how so many of the songs can lull you into this surreal sense and then come back with this epic almost... 'heroic' rift that just sends out this good feeling. Then you read the lyrics and think... 'what?'

  • I agree, Mayo was always my favorite :). I love the intro so much, dual guitar leads.. Such a beautiful song. And I agree about Silverfuck, it was always just a bit much for me. A great song, but just drags on a bit. Excellent review!

  • One of the greatest albums ever made in the history of music.

  • I love the noise on Mayonnaise, its actually just feedback from a shitty guitar that they utilized to make it amazing.

  • I respect your opinion about silverfuck being the weakest song on the album but u have to admit that Jimmy's drumming is fuckin awesome on that song :)

  • gonna have to disagree there. the greatest song on the album is totally SOMA. (:

  • the softer songs have a little more varied genre of sound than just "dream pop". hopefully in one of your SP album reviews, you'll mention shoegaze at least once. other than that, good review.

  • The Mayonaise feedback was reportedly a faulty guitar, but he liked the sound so much it was kept in.

  • Since 1993, only this & Soundgarden's Superunknown really mean much to me. It has been more than a decade now since I last fall in love with an album. Today, Disarm, Cherub Rock, Soma, Maynonnaise, Quiet & Rocket are really some of my best-loved songs ever

  • i tottaly disagree with you on silverfuck being a weak song but besides that great review i love this album so much and your vids are great ty

  • what's the name of the song playing from 4:20?

  • @anonymous7180 mayonaise is the song played at 4:20

  • I did such a huge amount of drugs with this album playing in the background and cos of that can't listen, ruined a great album. Can't listen to OK Computer cos that was the album I was kicking drugs too. Hahaha. Climbing up the walls... 90s sucked...

  • Billy Billy Billy Billy there are 3 other bad ass musicians in the band that r just as important!

  • @dosomethin888 Have you not seen my other Pumpkins reviews? I'm fully aware of this.

  • Comment removed

  • Billy says "Quiet". He actually wrote that song about me, I was over at his pad and I was singing C and C music factories "Gonna make you sweat" at top volume. He kept yelling "Quiet! Quiet! Quiet!" and I was like "I'm just squirrel- tryin' to get a nut-to move your but." Billy definately wasn't into eurodance as much as I was..a pity..Siamese dream definetly is lacking in trance beats, a shame.

  • This is a rockin' album... definitely the most colorful-sounding album they have.

    Lots, lots, lots of overdubbing.

Apparently, "Soma" has around 100 overdubs.

  • Terrific Album!!! But it wasn't a good time for the band :(

  • D'arcy? I thought it was pretty well known that Billy recorded 99% of all the guitars and bass himself.

  • @freakboy1992 Thats bullshit. He did some, so he says, but not 99%

  • Hi!

have you ever ripped the cd to the computer?

if yes, whats the maximum quality it can get digitally? :\

i'm going to buy it sooner or later >.<, just trying to find it :p

  • @RicardoLima1992 Flac format, although the file sizes are larger.

  • Right on review. Mayonaise.... this is the sound that most modern bands are aiming for, and failing miserably. Smashing Pumpkins were so ahead of their time. Very slick production, but it works out and sounds nice and bulky, not overly-pretty.

  • i love your reviews man, keep the good work up

  • @sodomyhorse

you have to take into account that james and darcy did dozens of demos with billy and jimmy as a full band, and they did record final album tracks...but billy rerecorded them and used his takes. they weren't worthless, billy just stifled their input because he was so paranoid about perfection, he would only trust himself to make the parts exactly how he wanted...

  • dunno, silverfuck is weak, musically... its just 2 d power chords switching octaves...

but yes, this is one of the best albums of the century

  • Agreed. Mayonaise is a forgotten gem, a remarkable piece of music that should be mandatory education in schools.

  • Okay... Agree 99% with you. But

Thought it was funny when you said not to get upset when you thought the last 3 songs didn't flow but before that you called corgan a egoistic jackass! Lol

  • @SuperJElliott Fellow band members called Billy Corgan a egotistical jackass. They kept a cardboard cut out of him backstage so they could kick it.

  • @SuperJElliott is he a jack ass

  • good review man,ima subscribe...keep up the good work!

  • silverfuck a weak song..?...dont think so...this cd is flawless...i was born in 76 so this album got me through some tough times ....also not one mention of jimmy chamberlain???...hes a beast on this.....hummer is the best song on this i get goosebumps everytime i hear it......good review though...also i need more metal how bout some GOJIRA...?

  • LOL "Then again he's an egotistical jackass" Nice :)

  • you look like Zack de la Rocha great review by the way

  • Good review, You seem to know what you are talking about! This is my favourite album , And thanks to your review on pices iscariot i know own that too, well done man! :)

  • lol you share a flow of thought so similar to how I think. its quite scary lol. nice review though, first one i seen you do.

  • dude this is great i love pin floyd and the pumpkins are my fav band of all time i own everything by them

  • Skip the fucking add, and buy yourself a minute... that you can use for, uhm.. i dunno, talk a bit slower, that you're so sorry about, Mr. know-it-all!

Besides from that, I can't really see the point of this. Why do I need someone like you analyzing this for me?! Jeez..

P.S. D'arcy didn't play anything on the recording.. And James only played a very few things as well. Billy recorded almost everything besides from the drums.

  • My favorite is Geek USA, is so fucking frantic.

  • @RELover5 omg Geek USA is soooo amazing. that solo has to be the greatest ever. and it pisses me off how Billy Corgan is so underrated

  • I space out like that during Mayonaise too :) Nice review.

  • @ZeroRed78 Thanks dood!

  • @SirAllAboutMusic mayonaise is my fav song ever period

  • @SirAllAboutMusic do you rekon you could do an album review thingy like you do with these vids for the stone roses?

  • @SirAllAboutMusic dude i space out on geek usa..during that one trippy part where billy is like in a dream we are connected...what about you..it's very shoegazerish..its cool billy really knows how to fuse metal with shoegaze

  • @ZeroRed78 i space out during spaceboy, oh and that one trippy part on Geek Usa..where billy sings in a dream we are connected

  • my favorite on siamese dream just got to be "Mayonaise"

iv'e heard that funky guitar sound that apears in the song comes from a cheap ass guitar :P but it's a great addition to the song

not my favorite smashing pumpkins album, but it's pretty damn close to be up there with adore at first place.

    a well earned 10/10

  • yeah your right bout the motherfucking feedback

  • Good reveiw man. This album paints so many pictures. Beautiful

  • Thanks ALOT for the upload. Gish and SD are 2 of my favorite albums of all time. yes..even more than nevermind.

  • My favorite SP album. Melancholy is awesome, but Siamese dream is just pure savage.

  • I agree with mayonaise being the strongest and silverfuck the weakest! I also think opening with cherub rock and closing with luna is fucking perfect!!!

  • Im freaking out!!!

I would say the album gets better with every song (including geek usa / silverfuck). Except that belittles the earlier songs which are equally great.

Geek usa is an unreal song bro.

Without question, hummer is the best song not mayonaise. Soma is also perfection.

I feel asleep to this album from age 12-17 practically every night (with exception for mellon collie + adore)

  • mayonaise is my fav too

  • Great song, ain't it?

  • i also love hummer

  • @SirAllAboutMusic

I am not sure if you know this but the guitar part in mayonaise where it makes that weird noise is because the guitar had a problem and it was not on purpose, but billy ended up liking it so he added that to it. I think he mentioned that in viewphoria.

  • @bdrown1210 Yeah, I was aware of that. Which makes the whole thing even cooler. :)

  • Lots of Smashing Pumpkins lyrical imagery revolves around the moon and stuff.

  • Yeah, I've noticed that.

  • Billy seemed like a cool (if narcissistic) dude back in the early Pumpkins days. I wonder why he lost his songwriting talent. It's hard to believe the guy who wrote Disarm wrote Zeitgeist.

  • Are u a moron?

    Zeitgeist was unreal.

    A great concept album.

  • lol

  • dude shutup

  • @MajorKoenig2 haha I saw this comment in my recent comments, and I thought it was addressed to me. I was like "Dood, wtf, I gave this a good review!!" hahaha

  • no it was addressed to the tool whining "zOmG zEiTgIsT iS wAy BeTtEr ThAn SiAmEsE gAyNeSs"

haha so no I loved your review was talking to someone else. THANKS for the review haha

  • @MajorKoenig2

Where did I say once zeitgeist was better then siamese?

  • You didnt, but the only unreal thing about zeitgeist was how poor it sounded. The ONLY song with a SOMEWHAT good melody is Bleeding The Orchid and even then corgan fucks it in the ass with his whiney strained voice.

  • @MajorKoenig2

Like I care about an Ignorant red neck americans opinion. Your only uploaded video is of you reviewing a Gun. First off, thats nothing new... Second off, why dont you do something useful u little brat punk iinstead of making the world a worse place

  • An ignorant red neck..lets see..I'm from Chicago Illinois..I live nowhere near the southeast..I play an Ibanez Bass..I drive a toyota? Honestly you sound like a douche bag liberal with your "oH nOeZ gUnZ r BaD" bull shit. I also dont see how being a firearms enthusiast makes the world a worse place. I donate 20% of my money to missions in 3rd world countries. Of course, that cant be possible because Im a redneck. You whine more than Billy Corgan you shit stain. I mean..damn..you LIKE zeitgeist.

  • @MajorKoenig2

Lol I highly doubt your broke ass donates 20% of you earnings... Stop being stupid. And the fact you dont see why glamourizing guns on youtube is a bad thing only further prooves my point. You dont need to live in Alabama to be a close minded ignorant scathe on society.

  • Yes, because you can totally tell what my income is by my interest. As far as "gLaMerIziN gUnz ArE bAAd" you are a fucking toolbag if you dont realize that firearms are inatimate objects. So fuck you, you judgmental tool. Honestly? If you had any form of logic you'd realize firearms ar einatimate objects. You'd also realize zaitgeist sucks. But you dont. Therefore, you are a tool. Fuck you.

  • @MajorKoenig2

Well articulated... And very well thought out points.

Oh... And thank you for letting me know a gun is an inanimate object. I thought they were living things.

*Notice my correct spelling of inanimate

Anyways... This ends here. Have a nice life buddy, hope karma bites u in the ass and u get ur head shot off in a robbery or some shit.

  • It seems most liberals do think they are living things and are incapable of taking responsibility (being the reason for blaming crime on firearms).

    Sorry for the typo.

Haha, where I live it isn't against the all knowing law to defend yourself so fat chance.

  • @MajorKoenig2 Also, Based on your video... You wouldnt know good msic if it smacked u in the face.

  • This may sound random, but I absolutely love the opening to Quiet. Something about it dude, I can't put a finger on it.

  • I would have to agree. It's pretty fuckin awesome.

  • Huh, I decided to go get this album from my friend after listening to this review. Thanks mate. (Subscribed)

  • Thanks for the sub man, and I'm glad you liked the review.

  • Oh and what's the meaning to the lyrics of Today?

  • Billy wrote it about suicide, if I'm not mistaken.

  • @SirAllAboutMusic That's right.

  • Soma 100.. What? What you said made it sound like they recorded 100 guitars?? Haha , sorry.. I have much to learn..

  • I've read in several interviews that Billy recorded up to 100 guitar parts for the song, and this has been confirmed by Butch Vig...pretty crazy stuff!

  • wow... tad much..

  • best record ever....silverfuck is amazing! haha never heard it described as weak before

  • I don't think its all that weak...just a little compared to the other songs on the album.

  • This was my favorite record for many years. I threw it on a week or so ago and got right back into it. 'Cherub Rock' came on and I got the chills. Huge, epic stuff. Well done on the review.

  • Thanks for the awesome comment dood! :D

  • i agee with u dude sp isnt sp without original members

  • mayonaise sure is my favorite track of this album aswell!!

  • I don't know Siamese dream is just too plastic and glossy for my taste i prefer Gish more

  • "Quiet", you couldn't choose a best intro, man.

    Great review by the way!

    Nicely done.

  • thanks a lot dood!!

  • I actually think the 2nd half is stronger than the first. You know I never really paid attention to the feedback before, it is interesting. Although I disagree w/ you on SilverF, personally it's my 2nd fav after Soma.

  • Yeah, I'm not saying the song is bad, I love it, you know? Just I usually try o pick a worst song, and sometimes I gotta name, not necessarily the worst, but the weakest. But the weakest can still be an incredibly strong song. Thanks for the comment!!

  • hey SirAllAboutMusic if you really want to hear distortion listen to My bloody valentines loveless and pleAse do an album review on that one. it is very unique in its own sense and the best shoegazing album ever.

  • Siamese Dream = album of the 90s, maybe. OK Computer is it's only competition for me.

  • Then how bout a compromise haha. Siamese Dream=best of the early ninties. OK Computer= best of the late ninties. Now they both win.

  • You got yourself a deal :D

  • Awesom! :-)

  • Great review man. I agree 100%

  • Glad you liked it!

  • Absolutely perfect album, I could take nothing away. I agree with the best song, my favorite Pumpkins song. Great review, man.

  • Thanks!

  • LMAO, I've been around for nearly a year, and I only have 37 subs lol. You didn't have to keep it under 9 minutes, I think you can have up to 11 now.

    Great review though.

  • I feel bad now. You deserve more subs man, you truly honestly do.

I like to keep em under seven minutes really, cause of people's attention span. Can't expect them to sit there and listen to me ramble lol. Thanks a lot man, glad you liked the vid!

  • Yea, I do nothing to try and spread my word (if that makes any sense).

And fuck them, if they can't listen for longer than seven minutes, they shouldn't be watching a review anyway.

But still, you did a great job, even if it was 7 minutes lol.

  • Yeah. Listened to this album this afternoon. Geesh, no room for error is right. I was really trying to find some spot during the album where they might have fucked up, but (WOW) Siamese Dream is a pretty perfect album.

What is the the usual over dub.

  • Yeah, it's ridiculously perfect.

Usually guitar overdubs fall below the ten mark, and even ten is a little high. It really depends on teh song.

  • Hey. Thanks for the response. If you ever do a MY Bloody Valentine review let me know what their overdub is at. It has to be ungodly high too.

  • Actually what MBV did to achieve their depth is through effects like reverb and echo and shit like that. Billy is quoted as wanting "depth through tonality" so he went and recorded 100 guitar parts for Soma just to get that effect. A little egotistical for me.

  • Yeah, but those millions of guitar overdubs make Soma what it is, perfect.

  • But it just seems...unnecessary. It really is. Like did the last sixty overdubbed guitar parts really make any difference? Yeah, it just seems like it's Billy's massive ego showing through.

  • it's really tough to say that they were totally pointless, but if an artist feels that what a song needs is 100 tracks of guitar, i say, "why not?" if that's what it takes. but i've never heard this album before, and hearing "soma" on youtube, i can't honestly say that i can hear those 100 guitar tracks or even a portion of that on my crappy computer speakers. in all honesty, there are some bands like shallow, north dakota or fudge tunnel who create that kind of thickness with just one guitar.

  • You really should listen to this album, it's honestly one of the best 90's albums. Yeah, Sludge metal is very thick, because the distortion is very amped up, but the Pumpkins sound is really one of it's own. Like Sir said, it's surprisingly a great mix of distorted heavy and airy softness, or at least the early albums. :(

  • Oh yeah, I can't wait to get around to the Machina's. THAT'S GONNA BE FUN!!!
