This is how I retalliate to your notion of why Socialism will ruin this country. Socialism is an ideal form of government. Life is not ideal though. I understand that. But we as Americans have gotten to used to running our government by the greed of the individual rather than the benefit of the country as a whole. They work together to survive, and in such times of economic desperation as now, we must too. Complaining about the individual is what got us into this mess. Obviously, we can't do the same to get us out.
Yugiohsc, as great as the idea of "one people" sounds, it is unrealistic. In the world there are two kinds of people: those who produce, and those who live off of those who produce. In a socialist society, where everyone is rewarded the same regardless of personal acheivement, you soon find that the majority of people live off of the fruits of the minority. This causes the govt to offer more and more services with less and less production and revenue.
This is because people are used to using others to do their dirty work. In times such as now, their are so many problems with people being laid off and such, that most people no longer have that luxury. Oh dear, it's a young William Hague all over again. Pretty cringeworthy. Why? It's because of the several videos I've just watched of this Boy, he just reels off the same lines like a record. Wiliam Hague was equally as cringeworthy as a teenager, but the difference is that the guy was an eloquent speaker beyond repeating a few 'principles' and grew up to be a good man. This is how I retalliate to your notion of why Socialism will ruin this country. Socialism is an ideal form of government. Life is not ideal though. I understand that. But we as Americans have gotten to used to running our government by the greed of the individual rather than the benefit of the country as a whole. We cannot reach true socialism, but we can at least strive for a situation in which people try not to wrong others for their own benefit.

If we the people elect the government,and the government in turn regulates us, that means that we are directly regulating ourselves in an orderly and manageable manner. All other creatures do it... Look at ants for example. The ONLY way for ants to survive, is if they work as a group and support each other. They don't seem to care that each individual isn't getting the credit they deserve for carrying a certain leaf or moving a certain clod of dirt. They work together to survive, and in such times of economic desperation as now, we must too. Complaining about the individual is what got us into this mess. Obviously, we can't do the same to get us out.

Yugiohsc, as great as the idea of "one people" sounds, it is unrealistic. In the world there are two kinds of people: those who produce, and those who live off of those who produce. In a socialist society, where everyone is rewarded the same regardless of personal acheivement, you soon find that the majority of people live off of the fruits of the minority. This causes the govt to offer more and more services with less and less production and revenue.

This is because people are used to using others to do their dirty work. In times such as now, their are so many problems with people being laid off and such, that most people no longer have that luxury. That's why, even temporarily, rewarding everyone, is better than rewarding those few, who will end up taking advantage of the majority of people who can't even fend for themselves anymore..
