You can stop the auto exposure by clicking the exposure lock button before you start shooting. Also, if you set exposure compensation beforehand you can control the exposure to a degree. Just some tips I thought of. Nice video!
Is it true that the D5000 has no mic. input and that you only have 5 minutes to film and that you have to hold the button the whole time you are filming?
Yes it is true.. no mic. input.. , limit is 5min and there is no permanent exposure lock. Get the Canon T2i if you're planning on shooting some good video.
nice lens. i also own d5000. to turn off auto exposure you have to enable the AE lock button. makes the video look much better without the iris opening and closing when you move the camera!
how much was your steadicam. And just a question if i do get one a steadicam merlin. is ther anything that u need to hook it up to a d5000 or a d90. d90 which i might get. is ther any some kind of hole that u need to insert the d5000 with or it comes with what u need. like all u need is the merlin and what it comes with and ur camera. right
Whats your recipe for your d5000 & lens...Im struggling with a D90 & Sigma 8-16

No you do not have to hold the button down while shooting.
Yes no Mic input.
Yes only 5 Min shoot time.
You can lock the exposure very easily. There is a dedicated button on the camera.
