  • Do you know any other way of how to make oxygen like an emergency pack for mini subs or like for emergency supply for small aircraft's??

  • @Migueldeservantes nope, the chemicals they use are much harder to get and the mechanism probably has some technical engineering to it.

  • @HazMatLabz Thanks for your prompt answer! really appreciated!

  • Skyrim is cool but this is TRUE alchemy :D

  • that equations not balanced, you have 2 oxygens on one side, but 3 on the other, it should be

    2H2O2 + NaClO = 2H2O + NaCl + O2

  • @DarbyBellisle So now you have 5 oxygens on one side and 4 on the other. My original equation is fully balanced.

  • So you're making salt in other words?

  • Holy-Terrorist:>*=* Sodium hypochlorite[NaClO] + hydrogen peroxide[H2O2] = sodium chloride[NaCl], water[H2O] and dioxygen[O2] maked!

*=* The hydrogen peroxide[H2O2]oxygenated water 3% gradually pour in the sodium hypochlorite[NaClO] 5% bleach make the reaction, 1:45 bubbles[Super stuff lying, bubble and smoke of chemistry organization of science!] haved?

  • @bbq2010live please refer to the video description

  • Just use dry active yeast (wet first in warm water for a couple of minutes). The reaction is just a little bit slower. Produces pure oxygen because it is just a catalyst, without the risk of 'bleach mishaps".

It's doesn't take much to cause hydrogen peroxide to decompose.

  • @TubeScience Yeah but is it as fun, lol

  • is it almost pure O2 can you in-hail it?

  • now make acetylene

  • So now how do we remove the hydrogen?

  • @icicicles Watch my Sodium hydroxide and aluminum video.

  • water = h2o ?

  • How come when i did it, it didnt work? I did everything. the reaction took place but when i tried to light the gas like you did it just put the match out

  • @ce3917 That'd odd. Either the oxygen got let out too fast or there was some excess moisture left that got out.

  • it works!!!! thanks.

  • is this a 3% solution of H2O2? what kind of bleach?

  • @killeroftheshadows96 yes, and the bleach is either javex or chlorox.

  • What kind of salt is it if there's no sodium in any of the compounds?

  • @wazouskij Bleach is a dilute solution of Sodium Hypochlorite.

  • Part 2 of 2: But to make matters crazier, I poured some of the h2O2 down the drain to make more room and I found another dropper bottle with some bleach. I wanted the top from the bleach to replace the deteriorated one on my H2O2. So I poured the bleach down the sink and all the sudden it like was foaming and hissing and scared crap out of me. I then google what happens if you mix two and came to your video ;p

  • Here's a thought dumping a bottle of peroxide into a pool...nothing?

  • @seth5220 ya you would waste a lot of hydrogen peroxide

  • @GxRATE You would have a neutralizing effect from the amount of chlorine (alkaline) in the pool?

  • @seth5220 ya but most of the pool is water, it will just dissapate in the 100's of gallons in a pool. plus the chlorine shock has other chemicals around it so it wont react violently. try it, but you'll probly waste $5 on a bottle of h2o2

  • great now i know what to do if i am locked in an enclosed space..running out of oxygen....and happen to have hydrogen peroxide and bleach with me

  • @R3D54ND lol, i have thought of that exact scenario before

  • @HazMatLabz perhaps what happens with ozone (O3) comes into play with what we actually breathe and toxicity of O2.

I know that O3 can cause genetic damage because the 3rd oxygen molecule is easily cleaved off. How easily is O2 cleaved apart in human biochemistry?

  • @zinglonsale Yes, ozone is a great example of oxygen toxicity. But what I'm referring to is when people breathe a pure oxygen atmosphere at elevated pressures and it causes the oxygen molecule to go where it's not supposed to and it causes similar effects as ozone.

  • Can you breathe the oxygen?

  • @Thunder911Bird Yes and no. The oxygen released is breathable but I wouldn't try breathing it in if it was in a balloon since there could still be some hydrogen peroxide or bleach in it.

  • @HazMatLabz pure oxygen is not good for you as it is corrosive. It is partly what causes us to age ;)

  • Only oxygen is released right? only one oxygen atom comes off from the H2O2 so you get H2O and O but the O bonds with other atoms to make O2.

  • where can u get hydrogen peroxide? and is the bleach liquid?

  • @yaho0o123 hydrogen peroxide is usually sold in the pharmacy section of big stores, and yes the bleach is a liquid.

  • Lol I did this today and it overflowed onto my hands and I had to quickly Wash my hands :S

  • @lightmario2 not to worry, it's actually fine because i accidentaly said hands instead of clothes on the video. So it was only a mix of hydrogen peroxide, bleach, and salt water.

  • Great video I've never seen this before I'm going to try it this weekend

  • sweet :) just remember not to put the match out in any of the chemicals/products

  • @HazMatLabz can you breathe in the air in the balloon?

  • @hoochis technically yes, but hydrogen peroxide is put in the balloon and plus there is a chance that bleach could get in it so I wouldn't try it.

  • I understand that there is a way to create sodium acetate at home. Could you make a video of this?

  • Sodium acetate? I appreciate you asking but it is simply made by vinegar and baking soda. The videos on youtube that involve the hot ice experiment will explain the exact amounts of ingredients needed.

  • Nice to see another video from you.
