  • district 37 forever socal desert is where the speed and skill isat. my dad raced with mr hamel and he was a good man. i will be raceing d 37 soon will post viedos asap

  • Danny was a kind person & a Great rider, His SKILL was found in his LOVE of motorcycles and the sport !

  • Godspeed to Danny...

Too bad he had to die so young, perhaps he would still be alive if he only raced BITD and D-37... BAJA is a great race but can also be such a "Death Trap" from all the additional obstacles that the loco yokels throw into the race. Mexico is such a 'lawless" country. Too bad, so sad!

  • they say the best die young..

Unfortunately DH was one of them.

He did race d-37 and BITD.. he was super fast at all the races.

and as Cudetoom stated.. very down to earth and nice kid.. we talked a few times at the races and when we saw each a few other places too. I was just an Amature wannabe. he was alway cool.

    too bad

  • You are correct he did race D-37 & BITD, I knew that as well... Just trying to imply, that if he did not race SCORE, perhaps he would be alive today. Alot of booby traps, people, cars, & cows on the race course, was my point.

    Cheers!

  • As a kid I worshipped Ty Davis, Larry Roeseler, and Danny Hamel. The KX 500 was my dream bike because of these guys. Now it's funny because the sport is dominated by the thumpers. It's a shame the sport lost such a young talented racer as Hamel. Just goes to show you this is one of the most dangerous races around and when its your time its your time.

  • daamn!! that's some mad rare shit right there, that's right!! dany hamel was the man! up load more of him if you happen to have more!

    peace

  • Best Desert Rider of All Time.

  • He was a great Desert Racer. The best until his tragic death at Baja in 1995. The best of all time? In the late 80's and early 90's, the best was Dan Smith. Hamel couldnt beat him, and Roeseler could only do it on a occasion. Roeseler won 12 Baja 1000's, and not even Johnny Campbell matched that. When Malcom Smith raced Baja (on a dirt bike) , he was unbeatable. JN Roberts can get mentioned too. Each had there time. Hard to say whose the "greatest Dez rider " of all time.

  • All good points. but Danny was just beginning to dominate the desert at the time of his death and beat both Smith and Roeseler at the BITD and D-37.. Though both of them were on the back side of their moto careers.

If we are talking talent and not championships.. I stand behind my statement.

by no means taking away from all the other talented and successful desert racers of those eras.

  • maybe they dont find it cuz desert is spelled wrong...

  • Thanks for pointing that out. I speled it right this time...

  • Geeze. I can't believe these videos don't have more views are at least a few comments.
