  • Sodium is a metal that not only burns under water, water sets it alight.

  • Get some natrium in the water and wow you just lit a fire in the water...

  • Adele sets fire to the rain

  • 1:34 :)

  • Water doesn't just cut oxygen. You failed to take in consideration that it also cools the burning metal, dropping the temperature and not allowing burning any more.

  • saltwater burns at 3000 deg. fag

  • lolled when he said ''yup it's gas''

  • 1:42 insert "BRAZZER"

  • @samandllamas This isn't the time for porn. :/

  • @TheDylan615 its always time for porn lol

  • @samandllamas That's what you was reffering to right? I remember seeing a porn ad for a site called brazzers.com, it's supposed to be hardcore or whatever. Never checked into it.

  • you're hot (:

  • You can't get pure magnesium, unless it's kept in an vaccum, Air makes the outside of the magnesium strip slightly oxidised. :(

  • @OeNoesRAWR but not the inside.

  • ICP BITCH PLZ

  • Its a sparkler that you asked us to name at the end! WHERE IS MY PRETZL!!!!????!!!!

  • how da fuck do you put it out

  • a few things....

first, no fire can burn without oxygen- in fact, the definition of fire is rapid oxidization.

the reason magnesium can burn underwater is that it heats up the water so hot that the bonds between the hydrogen and oxygen break, and both of these two gasses are inflammable. The reason it didn't work when you put it underwater is probably because the small wire couldn't give off enough heat to warm up the water sufficiently.

Second, fire doesn't burn, it's what's burning that burns.

  • @whynabile im pretty sure hydrogen is extremely flammable :/ but it does need oxygen ofcourse

  • From what I understand, class D (metal fires) such as Mg burn so hot that water sprayed on it will have its molecules separated. The fire will ignite the hydrogen atoms causing small explosions. Attempting to put them out with water is not recommended for this reason. You simply have to let them burn out. On the other hand, dropping it in water doused the flame. My guess is that because so little Mg was burning that the vastly larger amount of cool water was enough to remove the heat.

  • that metal had kerosene on it morons!

  • your an idoit dude. mag. burs hot so all it was oing was turning the water into stem. and your other experiments faild!

  • that is a sparkler now give me a pretzel

  • where did you buy that strip of magnesium ?

  • its all shitz and giggles until somone giggles and shits

  • sparkler

  • 3 Main component for combustion: Air, Heat & Fuel

  • where can you find this solid

  • its called magnisium and used in flash bangs

  • kiss your hand ten time then say the name of your crush then look at your hand post this to two videos

  • Its made of magnesium . Pretsile bitch

  • Sparkler

  • that's a starthrower

  • @LiutendantJack777 at least that's how we call it in my language, i translated it raw. :)

  • thin metal rod approximately one foot long that has been dipped in a thick batter of pyrotechnic composition and allowed to dry. This composition is rich in a metallic fuel such as aluminium or iron, which when burned creates silver or gold sparks, respectively. The fuel typically contains potassium nitrate or sometimes potassium chlorate as an oxidizer, sometimes with sulfur and carbon. Colored flame can be achieved by addition of nitrates or chlorides of barium, copper, or strontium.

  • I laughed my butt off when he said "Yep it's gas."

  • it was a sparkler

  • My name is lamename not laemname so just get that

  • lol well fuck me on 1:34

  • ITS A SPARKLER! :D

  • The problem with you strip in the water is that the rest of it was not able to get up to temp for it to ignite.

  • its a pretzle!!!

  • Forgot to take your Meds?

  • @jimabbey1964 you're really a sad kid ;)

  • @RoDziLLA39 "Sad kid" no,Im an adulut that finds this vidio to be Total gabage! Running around like a total fucktard!

  • It's funny that so many people are eager to win a Pretzel.

  • its called a SPARKLER

  • how the fuck do you put it out then??

  • Firemans worst nightmare lol

  • now.....to build a house out of it ;D

  • it can burn without any oxygen, there's oxygen in water and they didn't say anything about h2o :p

  • where do you get that metal

  • Sparkler. There, now give me the PRETZEL!!!!!!!

  • AT THE LAST MY GUESS IS SPARKLERER

AND YOUR VIDEOS ROCK I REALLY LAUGHT LOUD AT YOUR VIDEO NAMED THE ELEPHANT TOOSHPASTE IT CRACKS ME UP

  • At the end that was not magnesium but i cant remember what it was :/

  • @Achivments02 SPARKLER

  • Pure Magneezium!....SUCESS?!?!?...i gets a pwetszel!!

  • a larger amount of magnesium would burn under water.

  • Well Fuck Me.

  • MAGNESIUM! PRETZEL NOW!

  • Okay, so when you put the magnesium in the tupperware and it went out, heres what happened. The magnesium used the oxygen and burned replacing it with magnesium oxide in gas form. that doesnt burn and magnesium cant react with it so it went out. magnesium will burn in pure co2 because magnesium burns with the oxygen, leaving just carbon. as for burning in water, it would have to separate oxygen from h2, idk if it could do that.

  • It's magnesium!! GIMMIE PRETZIL IM A HUNGEY BITCH

  • Comment removed

  • is there any way that the magnisum doesn't burn in water cause it cools the magnesium down, instead of the lag of oxygen?

  • water : i can put out any fire

    mag strip :challenge accepted

    water : bitch plese

  • Comment removed

  • @MrRandomballs lol oops

  • if you can c it but it goes quick at 1:33 it says "WELL F*CK ME" HAHA

  • maybe u like gasoline, huh?

  • Lol its a sparkler. I demand a pretzel

  • water has oxygen...

  • @hailsocks but the oxygen atome has already two hydrogen atomes bound to it so it can't bind to the magnesium (or any other burning thing) :)

  • i question whether or not you write this before you tape it because you always look off the screen

  • Sparkler

  • @school640 cake

  • sparkler

  • Sparkler. Where the hell is my pretzel? It better be stuffed!

  • if theres ever a fire in a magnesium factory we are all fucked

  • A: our not cute. B: get a life.

  • In the name of Science,we must, I repeat, WE MUST, shit and giggle

  • Sparkler.

  • sparkler! wheres my pretzel?

  • SUCCESS!

  • is it your penis

  • i liked it

  • i liked it weres my god dame cookie

  • Yes but will it blend?

  • its all shitz and giggles until someone giggles and shitz

  • ITS A SPARKLER :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • i love it

  • My science teacher had the same problem when lighting up the Magnesium

  • nice video

  • WHERES MY PRETZEL

  • the kitchen looks like the kitchen from epic meal time lol

  • Magnesium fires cannot be extinguished by water. Magnesium continues to burn after oxygen is depleted. It than reacts with nitrogen from air to form magnesium nitride (Mg3N2). When attempts are made to extinguish magnesium fires with water, magnesium aggressively reacts with hydrogen gas. To prevent any damage, a magnesium fire must be covered in sand.

  • @ECGxSMASHEY

lol water is known for its absorbtion of heat so it can burn under water for about a second tehn the heat will be taken from the flame extinguishing it.

  • shit meh house is made of magnesium

  • SPARKLER!!!!! sparkler Sparkler WHERE IS MY PRETZEL!!! DX liar.... *sobbs*

  • SPARKLER I WIN!!! wheres my pretzel

  • Water itself can be lit in fire, except when it is...it's not really H2O anymore.

Hydrogen itself is flammable, and Oxygen fuels the fires. Just separate them, and BOOM! Fire....

  • Magnesium is reactive metal it reacts even with water...

  • Firstly ... For Combustion we need Oxygen All the times......... Magnesium will not burn without oxygen.....When it burn's in the presence of oxygen ... it turns into magnesium oxide.....

  • I did this at school

  • success!!

  • it is a sparckler smart one

  • ITS MAGNESIUM RIBON

  • LOL

  • so if your house is made of pure magnesium, your fucked?

  • @12juiceman eeyup..though it'd be kinda fun to watch

  • Nerd moment!

why doesn't magnesium just do like its periodic neighbor sodium and break the water into hydrogen & oxygen and use them for explosive fuel?

  • 1:48

Does your mother know you do that?!

  • SPARKLER! :) Pretzel please?

  • The Magnesium Fire in water is actually a combustion reaction... apparently, there was not enough water, so it limited the reaction. In other words, there was "fire" underwater for a while.

  • i feel im back in science class -_-*

  • FIRE why you no burn in water !?

  • so build a magnesium house (dont know why) accedentily catch it on fire call 911 for a fire truck and it will just burn the firemen

  • so if u light up a building with magnesium and the fire fighter sprayed water? wtf would happen...oh yeah the building would burn even more :P

  • yep it is gas

  • @xGoSxInsane LOL People comment these days to get a top comment. PLEASE LIKE IT!

  • Comment removed

  • I like your eyes

  • The magnesium won't burn in water because boiling temperature of water(pure) is 100 degree(C) which make the flame quickly go to 100 degree aaaaand turn it off.

  • In science class last year, our teacher did this, haha. Except it was just a lighter and magnesium, that's it.

  • 2:00 2:09 god damn it it turn off stupid shit

  • Proces of burning needs oxygen to fule it, but water is h2o so it has oxygen.

The thing stoping it from burning the temperature of water :P

Theoreticly if the temp. of water is high enough it should burn...

  • SAPRKLER NOW WHERES MYYY ............PRETZLLLLLL

  • Why would Magnesium burn underwater O.o It requires oxygen for combustion, and if its gonna go white just by displaying its emission spectrum it would require a constant input of energy (from flame) which won't be available underwater or anywhere without some kind of heat source.

  • spakaler

  • U ROCK!!

  • next time get pure natrium, it is very soft metal so it can be cut with normal knife and reacts aggressive with water ( should keep in sealed can filled with paraffin ) if succesfully got bit wet, should turn on fire

  • @Arcarius3 So... Sodium :P

  • Burning needs 3 things, material, heat and oxygen (not sure about Mg) Mg burns with very high temperature, you can't burn it out with that kind of spray like you can't make any bigger fire go off, but sinking to water should cause to blow off since temperature drops 1000C.

  • thumbs up if u saw what he wrote in 1:33

  • @drkaranmannan well fuck me

  • Awww i wanted the pretzal but metal's already been said. FUCK YOU METALGOTSWAG! xD

  • Its a sparkler

  • try mixing the magnesium with sodium nitrate.

  • try putting out a magnesium fire with dry ice and turn off the lights. its awesome

  • Squirtle, water gun attack!

  • Try to put out fire with gasoline.

    Or you hair.

  • try to put potassium out with water :D

  • a sparkler or a hotdog whats the diff

  • IT CAN BURN IN WATER? KILL IT WITH FIRE, oh wait..

  • 1:48 ahahahahahahahahaha

  • Its Metal WERE'S MY PRETZEL!!

  • the end was hilarious. XD

  • magneasium

  • @shanedawson502 magnesium :P

  • if u have a basic understanding of fire, that was kinda predictable.fire needs a fuel source, oxygen, and heat. take any one of them away it won't burn. e.g lots of water = lots of cold = not very much heat.I'm guessing when u put it on a surface it either is loosing too much heat, or transferring too much of its energy to the surface. and finally magnesium does need oxygen to burn, it strips it of carbon dioxide and magnesium oxide is formed as a bi-product.

  • @TheTaylorGamers and the mist of water making the water apear to make the flame much larger is due to the face the extreme heat and energy given off by the mgensium, strips water from H2O, to H, then 2O(well technically speaking it would become H2, but anyway) and hyrdogen gas is extremely flamabale, so thats why part of the water becomes hydrogen and burns :)

  • well fuck me...

  • magneasum

i dont care if thats not how u spell that.

  • no top comment hmm like this and you got a cookie

  • @Hedlund95ify GIVE ME THE GODDAMN FRICKIN' COOKIE!!!

  • Shits and giggles XD

  • 7 people don't like science

  • That's bright as fuck

  • Sparkler =:-)

  • Don't make a house out of magnesium. You will hate yourself.

  • I wanna be like your accomplice lol
