  • then what happened?

  • people something it's true ; the runway 4r and 4l are the runways more used to land

  • Something magical with dawn/early morning landings...seems just soo peaceful and nice.

  • Aw Dude I was looking forward to seeing the entire landing. Disappointing

  • i just love how slow it seems to be going.

  • Would have been a nice video if you hadn't totally overzoomed the runway! What a pity!

  • so nice, 5*

  • Actually Your wrong. Thats the Inner marker

  • Why this runway don't have The PAPI Light?

  • Oh, on a 742? Thanks!

  • At 1:40 What was that beeping noise?

  • Spiderz,

Thats the Inner Marker Auto pilot is really loud and they shut autopilot off on touchdown

  • Awesome SocomX39! Another question if you don't mind. sorry. What's an inner marker do?

  • It beeps to tell the pilots that they are approximately 200 feet from the threshold of the runway.

  • Oh, OK. Very cool! Thanks!

  • RW 04R: ILS CAT II&III operations , 109.9MHz,

but of course it can be used for visual app also.1 star from me ,too shaky and too short video.

  • funner? Really?

  • it's landing. idiot!

  • He means it looks slow because the camera is zoomed in.

  • This runway is IFR with a glidescope and localizer, as I recall. Of course you could land visual, there are however no precision approach indicators on this runway for a visual.

  • As I recall this runway is on the glidescope and localizer - IFR.

  • i absolutely love flying ito LGA and JFK

  • Comment removed

  • Who said it's a visual anyway?? Just 'cos it's VMC doesn't mean that they are not cleared for the ILS.

  • Even on a visual you generally use the glideslope indicator to maintain a stabilized path, on some aircraft a snowflake symbol replaces the usual glidepath indicator so that the pilot remains aware that he is flying a visual. They crossed at 'fifty' which is about the correct altitude. It looks high due to the light conditions time of day and vis.

  • I like how they built the Rabbit lights as a kind of jetty out over that pond.

  • What is used to tell if you are on the correct path if there are no PAPI lights used?

  • I.L.S.{instrument landing system}

  • But in this case it's a visual approach.

  • you get an eye for correct glide path. nearly all pilots can tell if they are substantially low or high, with or without ILS, in good visibility.

  • So does a visual landing means that he or she is not using any instrument to help him, he just finds the runway and land?

  • Garlex134: well, the person could be using the ILS or whatever to help him out, i suppose. Going visual just means that visual cues are the main reference for the landing, and it does not depend on any instruments. I do -not- know that for -sure-, I'm not an instrument rated pilot. If any instrument rated pilots come on here, please correct me if I'm wrong...

  • 99.9% of airliners in the world, Per their SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) they are required, regardless of approach cleared for, to fly the ILS Localizer at the least and have it punched in the NAV1

  • basically I mean its a wonder day out so yh

  • in some for yes but it means that you dont atuo land you land the plane

  • What a beautiful approach!

  • there is something called a glideslope which guides the pilot down

  • whats a 742 or you mean a 747?

  • 742 = 747-200

  • A 742 is a 747-200 and a 744 is a 747-400!

  • That's no landing, it's just the final! :-(

  • JFK Rnwy 4R does not have visual slope indicator lighting?

  • I was going to ask the same question :) No PAPI or anything? Funny I also thought that the approach seemed a bit high but once he crossed the threshold... radio alt said "50." So it was just right :) Thanks for the post.

  • yes its strange approach. he seems to be way too high and way too slow, but its hard to estimate altitude by visual. for me he was descending v. steeply at the end.

  • the reason why he is slow is because he may have a low payload, hence a slow landing speed

  • might be, but it really looks strange

  • best time of day to fly

  • Yes,It is. and Thanks for love it.

  • 747 in the 04R???

  • yeah, we got a short runway like that in sydney (kingsford smith international); it's 16L

  • ЧЕ ЗА ХЕРЬ???

  • Да,действительно херь...

  • its so pretty outside...

  • What kinds of planes do you fly?

  • Its mentioned I think he means its

    Boeing

    B747-200F cargo plane

  • Yes, It is.

    and Thanks for comments.

  • These videos are fantastic!!!!I used to live not too far from ur terminal approach into jfk

and always look for my old house when I fly in. Please continue to post these videos!!!

  • I will and Thanks for love it!

  • are you a pilot?

  • where is jfk

  • One of New York City international airports.

  • County: Queens, State: New York, City: Jamacia

  • Was cut too short, lol.

  • too bad you did not shoot untill the end..

  • It was fine to leave something behind.

  • weres the PAPI?

  • Yes!One bar two or four lights for glide slope.

  • Visual approach no need PAPI,it's for IFR.

  • ohh ok, i didnt know that ,thanks ;)

  • Welcome!and thanks for like it.

  • Um, no.

VASI/PAPI are VISUAL aids and are used at all times regardless of whether or not the weather is IFR or VFR, but primarily in VISUAL conditions. At KJFK, all runways are instrument approach capable, but only 13L, 13R, and 22L even have a VASI or PAPI installed. All other runways (including 4R) rely on the electronic glideslope only (except 13R).

  • Yes! Your right and Thanks for so detail further information.

  • nice:)))

  • thanks!thecoollest
