  • LOL the back round song sounds like a trot song.

  • we too im philippines.. in our school we ate in our classrooms although we have school canteen.. eating inside the classroom is so much fun!

  • I think I would love these kids. They are so much more fun and respectable then kids here in the states! Damn why can't I have a child like that and have a nice family! :(

  • smap on backgroud

  • thumbs up if you watched this because of the name 'FUKUSHIMA'

  • Japanese children seemed to eat healthy lunches in comparison to most American children. Healthier diets may help contribute to better grades. These children seemed to be well behaved and happier then some or many American kids of the same age. Diet can part of the reason, as well as better parenting skills. American kids eat too much junk food and sugar.

  • This is so cute :-) Hope you are all alright after the earthquake. I pray for you!

  • really cute japanese

  • ching chong? no im kidding

  • wow i love japanese people

  • I'm from Norway we eat in the classroom

  • Hello, how are you? nice to meet you

  • ahaa so kawaiiiii

  • iiina, hisashiburi....used to teach in KAI-city in Yamanashi, i totally miss kyushoku with the kids, those were the days

  • the kids are sure cute! they are so camera like! unlike some kids ahem! outside of japan!

  • kyaa!!

    the background song!

that was the song that JE groups always singing right?

love that song! specially if its sung by Hey!Say!JUMP

here in Philippines we can bring our own lunch or buy at the cantene...i wish we can listen on a music while eating too...^^

  • @emelyn28video That background music in the 1:20 part of the film is SMAP's "Sekai ni hitotsu dake no hana" (or some similar-sounding title; not sure I got the spelling right.)

  • thnx i remember it..^^

  • where does the background music come from?

  • In my elementary and middle school, I ate in my classroom as well.

  • Kyushoku (school lunch) menu is planned by hired nutritionist, so the kids get one balanced meal a day, at least.

Even the food they eat at home have more variety, more vegetable than what American people eat. Some of those look garbage to westerners and probably would refuse to eat but nutritionally, they are good.

Negative side, at least the way westerners see it, Japanese food use more (too much)salt and MSG.

  • =[ i miss japan school. their foods is good then my school in tx

  • Kawaii desu ne ,,

    Thailand,

  • hai, so desu

  • so this is what itll look like when i move to japan when im older XD

  • check out Wendy's tutor quick zip strips you can make them yourself.

  • Interesting glimpse into another system!

  • elementary schools in America have cafeterias?!?!

I'm from Canada and our lunchtime is kind of like this

  • back when I was in elementary tho lol im outta elementary years ago^^

  • i'm from canada too and the idea of an elementary school having a cafeteria is super bizarre and i only see it in cartoons!

it was just like this at my school

  • Yep we do. ^_^ In New York especially (I am not a New York native.) Some kids can just walk to some nearby restaraunt and eat lunch there if you have permission though. People I know from New York and New Jersey hate Florida. I think because that you have to stay on school campus for lunch. But at my high school when you are in 11th and 12th grade you get to drive lunch. I guess that is why so many 12th graders are mean at my school.

  • in new york elementary kids are allowed to go grab lunch from a restaurant? wow.

  • Well that is New York City I am not sure of other places in the state of New york Either. Buy in Chicago, IL my teacher told us that by the time they get to 11th grade they can go to Burger King McDonalds or some dinar near by. Who knows.

  • in my school as soon as ur in highschool (grade 8-12) you can go anywhere for lunch.

  • Lucky at my high school (6-12) you have to be in 11th grade to go out for lunch. There are no restaraunts that are walking distance.

  • Well actually you have to be in Middle school I think but maybe younever know.

  • wow! really?

that is unheard of where I live.

    I live in Kentucky

    (no...we are not rednecks..)

and at school we have to stay in the school building and eat whatever the school is serving or you can just pack.

  • I'm from Florida so we have less strict rules in high school can't wait ofr 11th grade to go out for lunch.

  • Ah god! lucky people! i have to sit in a stupid lunchroom with stupid ppl! with teachers -crabby teachers- staring at us!! look at some of my vids =P one has me pointing my camera down cuz a teacher was coming XD

  • I love Japaneses' voice pitch

  • geez, I wish we could listen to music during lunch time! Music was forbidden.

  • 日本人の子供はとてもかわいいですね!!

    v^__^平和

  • ぜったい!

  • 世界に一つだけの花~♪

  • ultra kawaii the girl in the beging ketp looking up to make sure they were still filming!! so cute!

  • As others have said, we're all the same, just different languages. So cute!

  • Fail for saying "Japanese schools don't have cafeterias". Don't generalize, especially when it's about a country that most americans know squat about in the first place.

  • in my schools in Canada we didn't have a cafeteria until middle school

  • from the girls shirt, they must be in 4th grade (10 years old)

  • aww kawaiii neee =D theyre all so adorable i love how that one little boy was like, making random noises lmao

  • The peace sign is very common in Asia

  • all the boys have the same haircut lol

  • Just goes to show you...we are the same all around the world

  • oooooo kayyyyyyyy....

  • my mom is full japanese and she said she didn't have a cafeteria in her school either.

  • All of these kids seem more intelligent than me.

  • i think the best thing about elementary school lunches in japan is that the kids themselves take turn being the 'food monitor' where they pass out the food to the rest of their class. the whole class also has to clean up the classroom at end of school day.

explains why japanese people are so much neater and disciplined than us americans.... haha

  • most places here in Norway we don't have cafeterias in elementary school...but most high schools i think got it :P

  • Burde vert på alle skolene i Norge syns jeg.

  • daaa ville det ikke vært no spesielt vett xD

  • ppf in netherland children are so press,

    lunchtime, there they so quiet,

realy i want too go japan!

  • you're from netherlands? :3

  • great video! it made me homesick for teaching english in japan. actually, in the village where i lived, the kids in all three elementary schools had cafeterias. but unlike in american schools, they alllll waited til everyone had food before saying itadakimasu and then they ate.

  • about the swearing at parents thing...my friend cussed her dad out on the phone at skool once she was like "F*** u. Yes, I did just say that! f*** F*** !" I was surprised sorta...

  • Guess what. terrorsits hates u cuz u r white. Now do u know how that feels when u say u hate another culture?

  • how old r they? one of em looks real familiar

  • All of these kids are in junior high school now.

  • and the girl.. aw.. yu dont reads me X"P

  • aww the boy kiddy is kul X"D haha

  • OMG i almost died when i heard the song Sekai ga hitotsu no hana...if that's what it's called. These kids are so cute. I really wanna become a English teacher in Japan right now ^-^

  • i know in america and canada all they have in cafaetrias is fries, and chicken burgers. like goodnesss at leas t in japan they have like miso soup and rice. here the kids are only buying fries and poutine. i know cause im in school! WHY CANT THEY FEED US GOOD FOOD!

  • Japanese kids are fed so much healthier food than American kids. There also far more respectul and polite.

  • omg this is soo true!

I hear kids here in canada and america swearing at their parents! hitting them! not listening at all!

asian kids actually respect their parents and elders..

im hoping to adopt one when im older :D

  • Beware of stereotypes. Kids here can be just as respectful or disrespectful as kids anywhere else. The kids in this class had a good homeroom teacher, though. She was pretty strict, but was still able to build a good relationship with her students.

  • yes but im from europe, and there are MANY similarities between european and asian kids.

and like you said not all of them are nice and stuff. but majority are...compared here in north america where majority are dropouts...or just plain rude...

i donno.. my aunt adopted a girl from china, and shes the biggest angel ever!

  • @Kaguyua Exactly. Japan has their share of bullies like anywhere else. There's a good video here on Youtube about it from 1996 though.

  • ,,it's the culture and upbringing not always the suspected genetics.

  • SMAP! aww!

  • Those kids eat ten times healthier than Americans.

  • i kno. we be havn like fatty lunchables and mayo sandwiches.. :l

  • HELL YA THEY DO the shit we are served looks like the sludge my grand pappy scrapes off of my grandmas bunions in fact that slug is a lot better then what we get just joking about that but rely they do eat healthier then we do

  • In Norway, we too have to bring lunch from home and eat in our classrom.

  • At about 1:10 or so, I noticed a VERY familiar song playing- "Sekai Ni Hitotsu Dake No Hana" by "SMAP"! Boy, I've GOTTA visit Japan sometime! Too bad that although my family was in the military, we never got to live in Japan, even though other US military service members do.

  • cute ^.^
