@CarlD2 The Beetlejuce cartoon WAS a hit. It aired for four seasons on ABC and beginning in 1991 ran on the Fox Kids afternoon lineup...making it one of the few shows to air on two networks concurrently. I wasn't a big fan of it, but it was very popular during the early-mid 90's.
@80sCommercialVault Thanks for letting me know. I didn't remember it. I mostly just remember the X-Men cartoon from those years, and the Batman animated series. I just remember the movie being such gallows humor, it's strange to see it translated to a Saturday morning cartoon.
LITTLE CLOWNS OF HAPPY TOWN!!! No one remembers this show? I used to have ABC Saturday Mornings on VHS, but my stupid sister chucked them!! Great memories
I'm 38 and I remember these!! I come from a big family (I'm the 2nd youngest) so I had nieces and nephews around my age, and I'd use to babysit one of my older sister kids every Saturday Morning while she worked and Saturday Morning Cartoons were big in her house. These commercials and cartoon shorts bring back fond memories. I really remember Computer Critters skit!! Great Job as always!!
I remember some of these commercials lol. Like the "After these Messages, we'll be right back". As for the Chef Boyardee, what exactly do you win for getting three in a row? Lol. And I forgot the Kool-Aid Jammers use to come in the cardboard boxes. How could I forget? I use to inhale those things after school lol.
Thanks for showing these. I sure miss my childhood. I was just in first grade when these ads happened. Also with my mother recently passing... it gives me other things.
lol, rated R movies promos on children advertising.... i remember child's play as well with all that voodoo crap that haunted children who went to the theaters with the toughts just to see a ''playful'' dolly
Lol I remember the bumpers from when I used to watch Garfield and Friends on Saturday mornings in the early and mid 1990s. It's also so weird to watch these commercials, and think all these children are now in their late 20s/early 30s like me. Trippy. O.o
Honestly, I wish I had stuided genetic engineering, to get myself a younger body and never age lol. But of course there is the whole time and 4th dimension thing.
Sorry to read about what happened with your mom. I hope things get better soon. If things like this help you, then youtube them like crazy. I'm not sure what your religious/spiritual beliefs are, but there are many debates about what happens. You may see your mom again someday.
I can understand about the age thing too. If it was up to me, I'd say 21-25 forever. Sounds heavenly. Childhood was good too though. Rough teen years (health issues). But overall, good memories.
Thanks for the comments. Some say that it is a weakness, being pathetic or similar looking into the past. But for some reason I've always been nostalgic of the good old days; even to date. I was raised catholic, but lately I have been questioning faith; after being exposed to other beliefs and seeing how my mom was in her last days. I wouldn't consider myself atheist, but skeptic. So I don't know if I will ever again see her to apologize.
People can be very critical, so it's no surprise you'd be mocked for something like looking into the past (which is hypocritical since we all seem to do it at some time or another). As for faith, I stand the same as you (though I lean atheist). But whether a god exists or not doesn't mean there's no form of consciousness after death (I've heard some good arguments that support a secular afterlife & reincarnation).
How did they promote R-rated films to kids at the time? First I see 70s toy ads for "Alien" and then "Aliens" and now "Robocop"? What was up with that?
lol I sure miss that. How such things were adapted for young audiences. 9/11 and the Timberlake/Jackson thing sure have changed things for worse. But I had no idea the same thing happened in the 70's. Nowadays everything is terrible, specially the music.
You know it's the late 80s when the "computer course" includes a 5 1/2 inch disk!!

Beetlejuice was a very adult movie - I'm not too surprised the cartoon version wasn't a hit.
I'm surprised the Popeye people let them do a commercial where he isn't interested in spinach, since it's a big part of the character's brand.
I remember those Robocop commercials.

that computer PSA was so delightfully retro. esp. the giant floppy disc
is it just me, or does "Dolly Surprise" just look like she has a giant mullet?
