  • How come when you punch the cloud people, or whack them with a stick, your fist or the stick goes right through them, but a sack of silver coins doesn't penetrate them?

  • A couple of things wondered when I first saw this as a kid....First, why didn't everyone recognize him as Shoeshine Boy? Second, why didn't he use his atomic breath and blow the cloud away?

  • 5:00

what if a person appeared out of nowhere and yells "Hey, Shoeshine Boy is Underdog!!!"

  • Shoeshine is so cute :)

  • Alright---we know for a fact that Underdog possesses incredible super-powers, that, over a undetermined length of time, begin to wane, hence the use of Underdog super-energy pill. (Presumably, Underdog's powers lessen the more he exerts them.) So, while Underdog was sleeping, before his battle with the cloud-creature, it's reasonable to assume his powers naturally regenerate over time. The energy-pill reactivates them prematurely. He lost his battle due to lack of proper sleep.

  • how does that lady see with that thing covering her eyes

  • The great thing about Underdog is that it was syndicated twenty years after it originally aired, so I loved watching it in preschool, and my dad got a kick out of it with me because he remembered it from his own childhood. I remember us watching this episode together so vividly because he loves imitating voices, especially that line, "You have interfered! I shall lightning jolt you!" in that same tone.

  • this is an awesome video! I love Underdog!!!!!!

  • I''m surprised Underdog was still acting like Underdog even when in bed and in his pajamas. I thought he would've been acting like Shoeshine Boy!

  • wiley207: So am I! But my explanation on it is maybe he was just trying to keep his guard at the time. The true explanation, however, will always be a mystery, I suppose!

  • You weren't paying attention to the cartoon. He was exhausted and rushed home for needed sleep. How many times have you ever just plopped on the bed from exhaustion in your clothes not caring what you have on?

  • Right, but he was in his nightgown and cap, not his Underdog uniform, so I understand that he was tired, but it could be possible that he was still keeping guard as Underdog even when in his apartment that night

  • might just be a reflex. I would probably act like Underdog if a cloud person woke me at night if I were in that situation. What I don't get is how they knew it was Underdog standing there and not Shoe Shine boy.

  • roseta: Like Superman's Clark Kent, the glasses identify when Underdog is posing as humble loveable Shoeshine Boy.

  • I guess Underdog is his natural or default identity, and Shoeshine is the disguise.

  • i say nice pajamas underdog!

  • And that's why you never leave the window open at night! XD

  • Or else you'll be robbed by trigger-happy alien clouds.
