As far as i know you shouldnt use galvanized for cooking. The same concerns you had with welding indoors with the toxic fumes could be a problem with cooking food on it. I find regular metal duct piping easy to work with and no welding needed. Just a short T an elbow and a straight piece with some generic unscented kitty litter and your good to go with no toxic fumes.
@MrRiconn thanks for subbing! i hope if you make one you include a video. i love these rocket stoves and love to look at others builds and how they ,made modifications because no two are alike.Athbhliain faoi mhaise duit
I really enjoy these videos cause I learn a lot of new stuff, it's like watching this old house only with a more colorful personality. As a city guy my initial reaction was "what the heck is a rocket stove?" Time to tune in and find out!
@Drake3209 thanks drake! im uploading part 2 right now. it should be up and ready for viewing in about an hour because im on uncle bubbas old time hardware store and DSL service. SLOWWWWWWW!!!!! conection. i grew up in new england so im familiar with the city. the stove is finished!!! tomorrow morning im gonna get up very very early,,,like about 9:30 and cook some eggs and spam. ill put that vid up of me cooking on it tomorrow afternoon.
Nice work! I saw someone made one with a 5gal plastic bucket, and for insulation he used cheap clay kitty litter. Look up 'rocket stove water heater' that guy had some great designs. Also 'thermal mass heater' was a great way to reduce amount of wood burned. They went from using 5 cords of wood per winter down to 1/2 a cord. Take care bud!
looks good its nice to see someone building one of these that will last all the other videos ive seen people doing this they use junk cans and shit out of the trash they work alright but i bet they wont last more than a few times cooking with them
@muddmanone i had to come inside and take some ibuprophen. the dang thing must weigh 130 pounds. once i get it where it needs to be to use it,,,,its staying there!
