  • I love the Nelsons, I watched them every week when I was growing up. Loved them then, and still love them. Thanks for posting this eposode.

  • my old next door neighbor ha been bringing these shows over. man what a great funny, wholesome show. you truly would have to be from the worst side of town not to appreciate this great show. if only TV today was like that. when did it all go wrong huh? depressing.

  • this was a great show. clean and funny. just nice to see a tv family that show true love and respect for each other. i was so born out of time.

  • @bluecollardriver word! i feel the same way. im 24, church going young guy but i truly feel like i was born in the wrong period of time, when you cant be a clean person without bombarded with extreme filth.

    Thanks for your continued support!!!

    Respectfully,

    The Nelson family

  • I love the way this family shared time and respected each other. That is whats lacking in shows of today: example Married with Children.. Gosh..I am so glad that stupid show is off the air!

  • @GJNCA - I wish shows like these were around. They show how families use to

be together and share their time and respect each other.. What is

worse are shows like "Married with Children" which shows nothing but greed -

disrespect for each other. Sorry - I tell like I see it. Love the Charleston with Harriet,

  • ATTENTION, ATTENTION!

A NOTE TO ALL OZZIE & HARRIET FANS:

Sam Nelson, son of the late Ricky Nelson is trying to raise necessary funds to restore all 435 original episodes of The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet.

I encourage other fans to watch the video segment which gives additional details of how we can get involved & contribute to the project.

  • Ricky Nelson wasn't much of an actor. But who cares? He was so darn good looking.

  • wonderful! thankyou.. takes me back,,,

  • I loved Ozzie and Harriet.

  • Love this !!! Thank you for sharing these. What an oasis in an age of sad television.

  • .10 for an Ice Sunday. + in was in glass.

  • @Jeffzkazie. I'm 27. I'm Ozzie & Harriet fan. I proudly wear my O&H & My Three Son's t shirt in public.

  • Question to all Ozzie and Harriet Fans, or Classic TV Fans in gerenal! Anyone below the age of 35 here? I'm 23! AND I am a HUGEEEEE fan of Classic TV Shows. So if your Under 35 then Hit me up! I'm trying to find more people my age who love these awesome classic tv programs. Perhaps to form a group of some sort as well!

  • I've seen this episode a lot, but it always bugged me how Ozzie put the emphasis on CREAM. Like, ice CREAM. lol x] But I love it. haha and I'm only 17 x]

  • @GJNCA Maybe he should elaborate on his first comment. I don't see any way to interpret it other than hateful. Do you?

  • @GJNCA And yet he continues below!

  • @t455m Now this is the kind of mean spirited hate speech that I simply won't tolerate on my channel (except as an example of what gets you blocked). I am broad minded in the commentary I allow and afford everyone an opportunity to say what they will but this is too much.

How anyone could say such a thing about the Nelson family baffles me.

    You are blocked!

  • @t455m thank god all these people are bread, it's truly a butter place

  • @t455m I guess you found some truly fertile feeding grounds, my dear troll.

  • I've never had tutti fruitti , I'll never give up looking for some , thanks Oz

  • @originalmatchgame I have but it was a very long time ago and very good. It seems to be more popular as frozen yogurt now. Try a Google search for "Tutti-Frutti Ice Cream+your zip code" without the quotes of course. Try it with and without the dash in Tutti-Frutti. Good luck. -Michael

  • its kind of funny, even back then they were saying that they don't make things like they used to....

  • omg the singing <3

  • So tragic about David Nelson he was so sweet and polite

  • 10 cents!!!!

  • David Nelson died on January 11, 2011; the last surviving member of "Ozzie and Harriet."

  • i would rather have some ricky nelson ice cream :)

  • @ILuvRickyNelson LOL i love how they always have their homework finished. when my parents ask me to empty the dishwasher my accuse it that i have to do my homework. it comes in handy.

  • is that song by frankie lymon?

  • @omarskats3000 what song?

  • @missaloveselvis the tutti frutti song is a take off on goody goody, by frankie lymon

  • @omarskats3000 "Goody Goody"( from Wikipedia) is a 1936 popular song composed by Matty Malneck, with lyrics by Johnny Mercer.

Benny Goodman and his Orchestra (with vocalist Helen Ward) recorded this song. Frankie Lymon performed this song live on television on several occasions, including in 1957 on The Ted Steele Show. I think this episode has same air date as when Lymon's "Goody Goody was popular".

  • Harriet doing the Charleston! she had the energy of a sixteen year old..what a lady!

  • ...and sales of tutti-frutti ice cream soared after this episode first aired. Ozzie later said this episode was one of his personal favorites.....

  • This was indeed telecast on December 11, 1957, under the sponsorship of Eastman Kodak (that's why David is wearing one of the sponsor's cameras around his neck in the opening title). Ozzie was one of the few TV producers who "got away" with showing himself and Harriet in the same bed, because HE felt there was nothing "improper" about it...and because they trusted his judgment, neither ABC or his sponsors EVER objected to his scripts or visual content.

  • Harriet was 48 when this was made. Pretty good wheels for 48.

  • Harriet was a great dancer!

  • Continuation of comment-The show offered a

nice weekly break from Cold War worries like the

"duck & cover" public service announcements on

TV, as well as practicing it at school. On December

11, 1957 was the tutti frutti ice cream episode, which

my folks & I watched. Sputnik started the space race.

On January 31, 1958 the U.S. sent its 1st satellite,

Explorer I, into orbit. I still fondly remember the tutti

frutti episode & I loved the series up to its end in 1966.

  • On October 4, 1957 the USSR sent Sputnik I into

orbit, the 1st satellite ever sent into orbit. The U.S.

picked up its beeping sound & transmitted it on TV

    & radio. I was a kid then & I remember it vividly.

Sputnik was a big shock to the American people.

It made Americans think the USSR might also be

able to send ballistic missiles with nuclear weapons

to the U.S. On November 3 the Soviets sent Sputnik II

into orbit. The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet began in

    1952. Comment continues-

  • Aw!! That song is so cute!!!

  • @hsmgeek4ever Yes it is :) Thanks for commenting.

  • From 4:31 to 7:12 contains "Goody Goody" highlighting the incredible beauty & sexiness of Harriet. Totally charming! My favorite music/dance video.

  • @michaelsmiller1 Thank you!

  • @michaelsmiller1 It is a great song, performed beautifully by Harriet; but I can't figure out why she sings the version of lyrics that are appropriate for a male, not a female, singer.

  • 7:41 Ozzie and Harriet are sharing the same bed! This episode is from 1957, I wonder how they got away with that!

  • @paradiseshow1988 The censors must have eased up by then but I'm surprised too!

  • @paradiseshow1988 Might have been allowed because everyone knew they were married to each other in real life.

  • Great, great clip. They showed this on my local PBS station recently and actually cut out the part where Ricky and David sing about tutti frutti. Thanks for posting the entire clip. And by the way Ozzie actually did grow up in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. And this version of Goody, Goody is one of the best I've ever heard. Before going into comedy Ozzie had his own big band. His girl singer was his soon to be wife Harriet Hilliard.

  • @CarlDuke You're welcome and thank you for posting this background information!

  • The Nelson's were truly very talented!

  • A classic. The truly don't make shows like this anymore.

  • Oh Ozzie aren't you going to show us how to load that film into our camera!

This was a hilarious episode . One of the funniest .

Thanks for sharing..I love your channel, Michael.

    Hugs,

    Keren

  • You're so silly :) Poor Ozzie!
