  • It looks like Page is using the (original) old guitar. Note the wear.

  • Very unique sound....one of mah favorites

  • nobody sounds like helmet. nobody ever will. the deftones is the only comparison you can make cuz both their lyrics dont really make any sense

  • vem timbora pro brasil galera!

  • well, i think they'd be an awsesome instrumental band if paige has issues with singing.

  • Slayer sounds like Sinatra, if you cough in the middle of saying it. Hey, didnt these guys get some new emo singer that killed the band? I dont understand why Paige just didnt sing. I mean, any one of these guys could have yelled, as helmet was never known for vocal dynamics. Use a present member to yell, let paige sing. If we want an annoying high pitched voice with repetitive choppy guitars, we have the last Janes Addiction album.

  • @arak2004 It's kind of difficult, to split the vocals, cause often a hole song either contains the raw vocals & Hamilton does not have the same agressive raw voice anymore or the more listenable (for some) tracks with the "singing". Sometimes there is a bit of both sorts of vocals and maybe a present member could shout out the raw singing parts, but Hamilton is the boss & frontman, don't think he leaves the vocals and just sings the softer vocals alone. But he dont sing as raw as before I agree.

  • they fuckin rule. period.

  • @TheGreatEcstasy, this may be sloppy due to the limitations and lack of dynamics of the recording, don't assume that all of a sudden they forget to play this music super tight, because it's the only it can be played, super tight staccato riffing and odd times signatures. it's great stuff

  • silverchair are shit, deftones ok, but helmet are the real deal.

  • I have Ibanez RG420EG with the same colour as Page's guitar! Yeah!!!

  • They may have been the tightest band around but this sounds sloppy.

  • I love that drum solo in the begining

  • tightest band ever

  • LOS PADRES...............

  • awsome!!

  • relentless, jackhammer groove..a lesson in simplicity..Page is genious

  • Cant hear Hamiltons guitar!!

  • Where the fuck is Stanier?

    New Helmet suck!

  • suck? i say-new helmet is total shit!!!i cant stand them now.

  • Helmet owns

  • helmet are fucking awesome live saw em 96 too blind to remember much.idiot.saw em 06 opened with smart and fucking killed it saw em 2 nights in a row april last year they played meantime last song to first the whole album! it was fucking great high light gig of last year..this year so far is karnivool check em out...

  • deftones sounds like helmet...

  • @lucaHC

thats because helmet was first little boy

  • Anyway, one of my few favourites, and this for all my life, groundbreaking...

  • helmet's best song. nice to see it pulled off so well.

  • Its Metal/Punk Helmet Rules!

  • Insane Grunge.

  • nah, this is heavy alternative rock id say, like silverchair and kerbdog, it aint metal. My fav music rly.

  • Please dont compare silverchair to Helmet...... Silverchair is bullshit

  • not the 1st 2 albums

  • well said, Silverchair would get frog stomped by Helmet, not a terrible band but not as nearly as deep or talented.

  • @GlueyPorch - AMEN to that!!

  • @GlueyPorch

    lolSilverchair. Insanity.

  • @GlueyPorch you´re right

  • @GlueyPorch yeeahhh,I agreeeeeeee

  • this is sooo awesome, god damnit, Page is a genious! sooo heavy, jesus i love it!

  • Fucking awesome!! I saw these guys that same tour, summer of 2006 at the Warped Tour in Leominster, MA! It was literally 100+ degrees out that day...but it was fucking awesome! Helmet rules!

  • helmet is one of the best punk/hardcore bands ever. i wanna see them live so badly. go on tour dammit.

  • total not punk! but kickass

  • more like grunge

  • no shit dude, i would give my left nut to see these guys live. Fucking amazing.

  • hahaha:P insane, but helmet fuckin rules indeed!

  • Page Hamilton= Genius.

  • Must be weird living in a place where it's past 7pm and still broad daylight..

  • thier pretty damn heavy

  • very much good!!!

    I ADORE HELMET

  • i only just found out about these guys and they seem really good. good music that's heavy but not over the top. most people would probably pass them over as nothing special, but i think there exceptional. gotta love their style very different to your standard rocker band. they look like they could work in an office in the week and mosh on the weekend

  • By far my favorite song from my favorite band! I truly hope they go on another tour that is >21. Us oldies feel super old at the warped tours. GO ON TOUR GAD DAMMMIT!

  • 1;08 helmgazm

  • YEAH!!! Been listening to Helmet since the early 90's, along with Metallica, Megadeth, Danzig, RATM, etc. Funny thing was, I was shocked when I saw a picture of the band for the first time. In the early 90's, musicians that rocked this hard had long hair, had goatees, and wore black. These guys were always clean-shaven, wore baseball caps and cargo shorts. I always thought that that was so cool! It just goes to show that when it comes down to it, it's the music that counts. Down with POSERS!

  • in my opinion, the style of 'I don't care' is much better than any style.

  • yeaa, its great that these guys are more about the music, rather than the image

    rock on!

  • I may be mistaken, but it seems to me that Helmet has a pretty kick-ass drummer on their new album "Monochrome" named Mike Jost.

  • As one of the biggest helmet fans to ever roam the earth, this is sad to me. Without John Stanier and Henry, Helmet becomes merely avg. The drums completely lack the timing and precision, just a muddy mess.J.Staniers drums IMHO defined Helmet, coupled with Pages riffs and intense vocals it was as precise as rock music could get, an unstoppable force, yet to be matched by any band since.IdK were the hell page found these drummers but they are not worthy to even smell J.Staniers soiled underwear!

  • i think that the best line up was at the beginning from helmet with bogdan and stanier. but the line up with john tempesta and chris traynor is also very good!!

btw, this line up isnt bad. only the drums are really week, but the guitarplayer and bass player are good i think!

    helmet owns fuckers!!!:P

  • It seems to me that Paige has a pretty hot line-up here. By the way, you obviously can't tell good musicians from soiled underwear. This is pretty fucking tight and heavy.

  • It maybe somewhat tight and Heavy, but you have obviously never seen the original helmet live, like I said before they were far better then anything at the time or since as it pertains to "tight and heavy".This lineup is avg with the exception of Page of course. Its the little things missing espcially on drums, that fail to elevate this to true "helmet" status.Even how the drums are mic'd, weak,Hey its fine you like it,i use too as well,I just choose to listen to the far superior older recordings.

  • totally agree. it's embarrassing. it makes me sick to watch this .

  • please, this shit it's good, don't talk about stupid things

  • " it´s allright ....

    i know .... "

  • This song owns.

  • anyone who bags helmet is a fucking gay cunt

  • So in other words you don't know what a chord is.

  • What you just said was the single most stupid thing I ever heard.

  • you fuckin maggot, you just need to bang your head against the wall to find out, i like Helmet but Im not a fool like you, Blink 182 knew only three chords and so they may be better because Helmet only knew one

  • Also, compairing Blink 182 too helmet makes you the ultimate fool... spare us your ignorance.

  • nobody like you sit on your thumb and spin

  • Dude, you just made my night. Thats the funniest shit i ever read! Blink 182 hahahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahah Goon!

  • you estupido

  • Maybe you should have worn a helmet before you banged your head on the wall...just a thought.

  • Pioneers in Alternative Metal!!! they were the first!!

  • what about lard? lard kicked arse.

  • i hear the bum notes,,, that guy is sloppy as... helmet still rule though

  • haha this stuff was decent for it's time, but john stanier has gone on to join one of the most innovative bands around. Check out Battles if you haven't yet.

  • No need to spit in Page's face! 'The most innovative band of it's time' would also apply to Helmet, I reckon. Battles are great, I agree with you there.

  • i was in my second year in college when i first hear this...they sound kinda weird during those time, coz most of the musik are grunge...i just realized that they were really ahead of time...

  • just destroys you...

  • this is my all time favorite HELMET song! and HELMET was my favorite band growing up. i saw them live in PDX and they never played this one. thanx for putting this up.

  • Helmet Kicks some massive ass!! and thats coming from a 44 year old!!

  • well page hamilton is 46.....

  • Betty is incredibly underrated.

  • Jimmy hits bum notes all over the joint.

  • Great song, I'd love to see this one live.

  • Betty was the last thing Helmet released as far as I am concerned. Everything else after was just short of them calling it quits...

    I miss John!

  • i wonder the same thing :(

  • god i miss this band whatever happened to the good music?

  • All of Helmet's early albums were in drop D. They started changing tunings starting with Size Matters.

  • Bum note - 00.49 - Bring back the real Helmet!

  • Dude its live, not some cock shmock crap, they might have meant to play that, you know, the chances to breath, not 100% album. . . .

  • nope i think this song is in d flat.....betty album track 2....i miss John Stanier and Henry Bogdan

  • This is Betty album dude.

  • i definitly love this song, and helmet live performance is cool

  • Actually, the song is from Betty, not Meantime, and was originally written in dropped D-flat, not C.

  • awesome song. please reply with said song title.

  • "I know" off the meantime album. Brilliant!

  • whats the embed code bro

  • I like "pure" in C for some odd reason :). I wonder what Monochrome\Size Matters sounds like in the other tuning

  • That's "Drop-D" tuned down an additional step (low to high: C G C F A D). On that note (and yes, the pun is intended), I have to ask: old and new alike, do their songs sound better that way, or am I crazy?

  • 'I Know' is normally in C though. But yeah, they've got everything in C now. I dont like it very much but yeah...

  • "I Know" is one of three songs from the "Betty" album done in "Drop-D" tuned down a half-step (low to high: Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb). "Speechless" and "Overrated" were the other two.

  • ciao

  • Paulglor is right. They tune to Droped C as opposed to d as they was in the 90's. Page doesn't like singing in d.

  • Damn they really down-tune their guitars. AWESOME. That was great stuff.

  • longlive helmet

  • Agreed Helmet pwnz!!!

  • Get out to warped early and see these guys people. Best band on the bill.
