my dad is really into trains and we go to the Amtrak station all the time at Middletown to watch them come in. He loves his scanner.
As an amateur photographer myself, I hate when people can clearly see that you are trying to get a shot and they walk right in-front of you. It's pretty obvious what a person is doing if they have a camera and they are kneeling down or with a tri-pod. Doesn't take much more effort to walk behind the person filming.
Yeah! What an idiot! Who stands on a train platform?!? This guy should have known that station platforms are reserved solely for socially-retarded railfans taking videos!
What irks me is when I'm taking video, and a bunch of fans line up behind me with their still cameras and start taking pics and the cameras are all beeping and clicking away. Come on, how about moving 5 feet away so that my video will capture the sound of the train and not the beeping and clicking of a dozen cameras? (better yet, people should learn how to disable the beep on their cameras! it's easy to do!)
I hate when people talk to me when i am filming, especially when they say "are you taking pictures? I answer no. I am fishing for trout. haha drives me nuts
To those of you who have commented on my video pro, and con. I am not mad at this man, he had no clue really! In the production I made on this clip, and other video that day, I simply edited him out of the picture. Just having some fun with this clip is all!
He was pretty clueless, but I wouldn't be that mad at him. If I had a similar shot, I would either not use it, edit it, or just see it as a natural way of life at the station. Nice vid btw.
Good videography; but too bad some people aways screw it up. I was at Strasburg on Saturday and I had a nice shot set up of the 7312 leaving the platform, no one around. Out of no where about 100 (hardly an exaggeration) indians (the country) who don't even speak english show up behind me and start babbling incoherently just as she was pulling out. Boy I was ticked!
one time i was sitting at home (here) doin nothin then i hear on the scanner that 7312 is comin north on 512 so i figure that it is so hot out,the sun is blarin, it is very humid but on the other hand it is 7312 (my favorite D&H) and it is after the railfest at steamtown so shell be all nice and shinie and on the same hand i do have two 7312s in HO scale for my modle trains one dirty and one clean.
Anywayz I decide to go because i just heard the detector go off
this is the second half to my last one replying to o00o00ozy's 7312 comment:
.So i race off on my bike at 6th gear and oh boy was it hot out when i finally arrived i looked like i fell into a river because i was sweating so mutch ok so here is the part that got me mad he gates finnaly went down and here comes a convertible with the music blarin and the person looked at me and i gave them a dirty look back and they still dodnt do anything
so the video was ruined and i smelled awful for nothing
Dude, Id do anything to go see a steam train alive and kicking. I wouldnt care if I got all sweaty riding my bike just to see a steam engine. There may be more to life than railroads, but it Sure is my Pride and Joy :)
yea i know but i waz just saying that whenever i sat down i got a huge wiff of it
mmmm yummy...LOL
anything that has to do with trains is my pride and joy too but i was just saying that i smelled bad for a video that isnt good but i did enjoy seeing it all sparkly clean but the music dround out the sound and it was going uphill and they were in notch8
No joke, one day when I was filming at Wernersville station on the NS Harrisburg Line a car was going over the crossing and the driver was staring directly at me not watching the road. There is a traffic light about 300 feet ahead and he quickly turned around and braked but still rear-ended the car in front at about 2 MPH, no damage apparently has they just honked and drove off. I wish I had been recording, maybe next time. I had LMAO syndrome for the rest of the afternoon.
no joking huh? Just like how people stare at me in they're cars and next thing you know are stuck in the mud or in a ditch off the road. Yea it happens too frequent down here
The difference is that you are only physically 68, mentally you're probly about 17 like myself (physically 40). Remember the early days of video when you'd be capturing an historic occasion in your lens and some twat would lean over and ask, "Is it on, does it have sound?"

Well it happens to much, does it not? The general public look at us and are clueless about what we are doing.

Ed... most of the general public is clueless. It's one of the most frustrating things to deal with sometimes.
