She is absolutely awe-inspiring. Her books are why i chose to have natural births twice. Yes, the first time didn't scare me away. The fact that she has not changed her view-points, and is still very active, in the face of the majority regarding childbirth in this country shows how strong she is.
I wish I had know/read/seen her before, my birth experience was so traumatic, talking about rape is so appropriate, they rape you psychologically and physically most of the times in a hospital, that should not be a place where to give birth for pshisiological pregnancies. ever.
Ina May is such a powerful and incredible woman. I had a very traumatic birth with my first daughter, her Father had left me while I was 6 months pregnant, this was 8 years ago. Now I am remarried to a great & wonderful Father & am trying to get up the "guts" to do it again, I love children & my husband would love any I'll have ;) Ina May is one of those rare beings who gives hope to those who are scared- I love her xo
I have a 16 month old who is about 90% potty trained (fully at home, not while we are out) and we had lots of fun! We used frosted mini wheats for potty treats, and had a potty song, and he "read" his favorite book or played with his favorite toy while on the potty, till he was comfortable sitting there. In my experience, get the kid used to sitting on the potty before you start the real training.
I have to say I've never thought about this beyond childbirth, but recently my child has been refusing to go to the bathroom. When they realize that time on the toilet is just not as fun as time playing with toys they do try to hold it. But, how do you make bathroom time fun?
you are amazing. u have made me think so differently about chid birth, peeing and pooping! it all makes so much sense. and i dont think ill ever be afraid in the same way. THATS why u feel good about peeing infront of my hubby. im comfortable. and that is important. :)
The old practice I went to had a midwife that could stop a woman in labor when she entered the room. Most uncomfortable person on EARTH. Quiet and stared at you like she was taking judgmental notes in her head. Gha..
She's amazing! It's funny how all the common-sense knowledge and wisdom she's gained over the years still eludes doctors. I'd rather have her attend me than a doctor any day of the week and twice on Sunday. She makes me wish I could have "do-overs" on my births!
Thank you for sharing a tidbit of Ina May's wisdom. It would be helpful if medical-model students were required to hear/see her present information in her sensible and thoughtful ways.
I had the honour of meeting Ina May Gaskin 3 yrs ago: she 's great! She dedicated all her life inhelping women to believe in themself. God bless all mothers and babies!

I'm not married or even close to motherhood, but I would absolutely trust this woman to deliver my first baby.

This woman is great, I wish we would all listen to her advice and use our common sense to understand this as the truth.
