@sartanko Yeah that's because his name is John. If you go through the episodes and watch all the early hints and clues you find out that the Janitor is JD's secret biological father :P and that Dr Cox is JD's uncle.

That's why he can never be in JD's family because he already is. JD, Elliot and Kieth represent the awkward threesome relationship between Jordan, Dr Cox and the Janitor and it's the children representing their past.

JD's other father died, which is why Dan says dad. He is his dad

Dan is a loser like HIS father, and JD turns out to be a winner like his. Dr Cox even hints in one of the early episodes that JD has no idea who his real father is, but first time round nobody recognises it as an early hint because through JD's eyes, Dr Cox is just a very random man as he has no idea what he's talking about or the background story

Yep does sound like Scott. Neil Flynn played a character called Scott on the Drew Carey Show. His character dated Christa Miller's character on it and since she's Bill's wife it might not be a coincidence. To be honest, I don't think the editors would have missed something so obvious though.
