Timber needs to be thined from the woods as it ages. Or temperatures and soils today do not support trees to live as long as they once did. They need sun light to grow and be strong. I look at it this way. Our forrests need to be taken care of like gardens. if they go with out support of harvest... you will see down trees and a mangled mess in the woods..making it difficult to walk through and enjoy what God gave us. Every thing on earth has a purpose for our use.
@TheFarmerbrownw I understand what you are saying, but nature has a way of taking care of itself. I guess if 10 trees are planted for every one that we chop down, we get to enjoy God's gift, and also replenish his world. All the best to you.

Cutting a tree down and making something from it. What's selfish about that? He didn't commit any sin, at least he didn't waste it.
