I think Federer wasn't at his 100% at set 5. Maybe he's already tired.

I have to say that Federers serve was well below par and that I believe was the difference.Its so close at the top and its only a few shots between winner and loser - in this case Del Potro was mentally tougher and arguably more hungry.I still think Federer should have won but I am happy for Del Potro.

Why dyou think Federer "should have" won, Federer started off great, Del Potro was able to put his nerves aside and pull through... there aren´t many players who could pull off 2 tie breaks with RF. Also, Federer had his chances... he was 2-1 and couldn´t seal the deal in tie break.

At the end of the day Del Potro did it and that is all that matters.I just feel if Federer had been in his usual rhythm which he wasnt and if he had been serving properly which he wasnt Del Potros all round game is not as good but it was not to be the great mans day.And besides he cant win all the time.I think its so close at the top now especially the top 5 its a great time to be a tennis fan because its more competitive than it has been for a while.I say congats to Del Potro too.

I wanted federer to win but since ive always had alot of respect for Potro i give him credit where its due, what an amazing achievment to beat Nadal and the Federer to win his 1st grand slam title, just amazing!! I was a bit upset but as i said Del Potro really deserved it so go Potro! Wooh! Wow imagine the feeling of being in Del Potros shoes at the moment just incredible!

There can be no doubt that Federer and Del Potro worked hard and FULLY DESERVED to be in the final of this years Open and Del Potro deserves utmost respect for hanging in there for what was for the most part Federer's match to lose. Leveling it out in the 4th and getting the double break in the 5th was all him and he deserves it.

But holy shit I am dissapointed for Fed. I wanted to see him get 6 in a row, which I doubt any of us will ever witness someone coming to so close again.

Yeah that's very true but oh well, he took it like a champ and was great to see him say "Oh well i had a great run here, winning 5 in a row was unbelieveable but Del Potro did good and beat me". It wouldve been great to see 6 in a row though that'd be crazy, but i mean winning 5 Wimbeldon & US Open in a row back to back is amazing enough and all hes other records i dont think we'll ever see be beaten, atleast not any time soon. I believe he has alot more great tennis in him though. Next year. :)
