Why would you not arrange these in a circle? It's a nice idea as it is but it would be far more compelling to watch it loop, implying this continuous, incessant repetition of time.
yeah man nice work, you could take the screens and electrics out and compact them down, but then I gues the whole point is that they are alarm clocks and should look like theyre alarm clocks
eh. how about like, making it do stuff other than. . .make every clock tick a second. You know, something that will mess with how the numbers show that makes picture or a sweet light show. With this we're lookin at 60 clocks. . .telling the wrong time.
i think it would be more spectacular..if each number changes in that second and it shows a different lighting
so instead of it being one second apart, you're more lookin at the pattern of lighting rather than it being one second apart you could use this great experiment at work by actually doing it and making a psychadelic light show.
This reminds me of when we used to set all the alarm clocks in K-Mart to go off one, then two minutes later, two more, then all of them at once a few minutes later. much love scott.
Interesting piece. Though the hand has some glitches... a couple seemed to be slightly off pace when you had to move up to the next column.
Why not just set them by power... As you plug them in they goto 12:00 and start going. There are also 'delay circuits' like they use in some lighting situations... which you can splice into the cables... then when you plug that 1 cord in... one turns on a controllable time after another... and they all automatically set.
I bet setting 60 of those clocks is a pain

To get round the YouTube copyright police with their special checksum powers, why not just open Deep Blue's 'Child In Time' in another tab.

Stumbled this.
That's pretty cool. I'd like to see this done with thousands of clocks.
itcanbecheezcaketime 2 years ago
It's a cool piece, but how exactly do you read the time?
Is it the time on the last clock + # of clocks that stepped forward OR time on the first clock + # of clocks that stepped forward?
It's just one part that I couldn't properly understand (considering audio was stripped due to the YT police).

First clock tells the time, hours and minutes. The rest of the clocks animate the seconds.

becuase the clocks keep going while your setting them.. tsktsktsk.

Every time I press the minute button the clock resets the seconds to zero. Try it on your alarm clock. Not impossible.
