damn i am jealous with all that kit you got I would add a guitar synth and a set of Electronic drums to it, Use a PC for sequencing and possibly recording although would love a Korg D3200 32 Track that would be ace for recording , Brilliant studio an excellent track :)
@karelpostthuis Well actually A Mac would be better, and you have a Otari RADAR? you Lucky Rich Bitch LOL :) nah joking lucky you and not just lucky good thinking about getting both a SDS8 kit and a Octopad, not sure if you live in the UK but the amount of so called "proffesional" studio's here that don't even have that, that is excellent thinking my man :)
Wow! You are already living in my dream world. If I had a studio setup like this one I would never see the light of day, lol! Great work and thanks for posting.
WHAT THE FUCK!!! I am about to jizz in my panties, man...do u sell some major coke to get tat gear or what!!, if I was a jealous type I would be vomiting green spewtum over my jizz filled pants, nice mate very nice :)
Not too expensive and great measurement depth, you can also measure in loudspeakers for example, because you can have speaker level inputs as well as line levels!
Super inspiring stuff man! i am one of those 'young producers who can only afford a computer setup' (aside from a lonely roland tr-606, and a recently discovered yamaha dx-7), and most certainly a HUGE fan of all quality electronic disco music [especially 80s-90s techno]. I am very interested in the CD of this piece!
The real soul of the 80s can be achieved only this way, with all these units around. The gear itself is the inspiration. Now all the hipsters with macbooks & microkorgs are pretending to make a kind of fake 'retrofuturism' with heads full of other things. Even if our old dreams became better than the future itself, keeping the vibe is better that creating a trendy pseudo-copy.
Especially this track is a straight continuation of the past! Excellent!
In the current world it is a difficult task to maintain a quality studio like this, or even make it profitable, that is probably why people choose replica software just because it is cheap and doesn't swallow semiconductors.
It is this "downloaders" era that is killing music and good studio's really.
I am lucky i have bought this top notch stuff in a time a studio could florish and generate an income.
I am currently producing a quality track under the name Charlie Conrad! check it!
@BigLesbowski Thats a valid point, but I don't have the kind of money to shell out on all of this cool stuff. I would love to have this kind of a setup, but its just not realistic at this point in my life...Sooooooo, Microkorgs and Mac Books are what I have to work with. When it comes down to it, would you rather have them or nothing at all? (You might like the "Eighenharp" though, its pretty cool.)
Outboard FX Ensoniq DP4 (2x), Yamaha SPX90II and REV5, Boss delays / flanger, Roland DEP3, varous obscure reverbs and analog reverbs (Sansui spring reverb).
Im happy to know you use an Ensoniq DP4 and a SPX, i started rebuilding a new sound in my home studio over a year ago but kind of run out of time, life etc, but im back on the case again and have to recap, so this is a nice memory jog. I use the DP4 and SPX, but i use a Lexicon to cover my reverb and delays (on a budget), my only regret is that i have no compressors to add to the sound, only a Klark Teknik that is more functionality than sound and better suited to PA.
Oviously i would love to have Drawmer and Urei comps but space and funding is an ongoing problem. So i have a question !
I produce various styles of music but am more focused on my own style of Electro/Indie Dance/80's/Minimal/Future Retro kind of sound.
I need that warm 80's vintage authentic sound, am i safe to leave it the mastering stage (using a professional studo), to add that final 'miilion dollar' warmth and to get the sound i want ?
to get the best sound i can out of what i have got, but do i need to be incorporating the big Urei compressors of the world earlier in the development stages ?
Im not too woried about vocalists at the moment, but the sound i get from my synths, samplers and various instruments is important to me.
Not sure if im asking too much, but do you have any equipment suggestions that may help ?
WOW, this blows my mind...

A PC for sequencing.... nah.... never gonna happen.
Recording is Otari RADAR, also never will replace that one...
Electronic drums, i've got a full SDS8 SImmons kit, and an octapad, that will be fine too.

amazing studio! great music! what is the spectrum analyzer?
deepeightyeight 1 year ago
@deepeightyeight
Analyzer is "Audioscope Audio Measuring instruments" made in the 90's i believe.
I bought it from Michiel v.d. Kuy from his Laserdance / LA Style studio when he left the country to settle in Spain.
