Compulsory insurance has its problems, I agree. Insurance, or anything remotely similar should not be mandatory.
Because of the way cost goes up when you actually use it, those who need the insurance end up paying more, and eventually can't pay for it. Preexisting conditions screws you over for most forms of medical insurance or home insurance. The people who pay the least are those who never need it, and if you don't need it, why pay for it at all. It seems to be a cash grab, honestly.
