@Pinin500 116 years of proud tradition pinin, can your alfa brand boast that - NOPE. Where were your Abarths in the 2010 Intercontinental Rally Championship - erm, way back - Skoda won. Where's your Alfas and Fiats in the customer satisfaction surveys, yes, you got it, way back and falling.Who won - Skoda. Face it pinin, Skoda eat your alfaggots for breakfast. I'd rather DRIVE a Skoda than PUSH an Alfa.
@skorob2010 ; SKODA ARE PICKED BY SAD OLD MEN WITH NO TASTE AND A THICK SKIN SO AS TO IGNORE THE JOKES AND STIGMA, SKODA WERE NOT PRESENT IN GROUP B RALLYS OR BTCC WHEN IT HAD A HUGE AUDIENCE, SKODA ARE REMEMBERED FOR THE UNRELIABLE UGLY EASTERN BLOCK CARS FROM THE 80'S/ 90'S......AND THE STIGMA IS STILL THERE.
in the Czech Republic, Skoda Auto is a very popular and also very powerful car.We have in garage skoda octavia RS 1.9 TDI.Nice car with much horsepower.RESPECT SKODA!!!
I may be a little affected by the fact, that i drive a Fabia (1.9TDI Combi - really great and really multipurpuse car), but i find teh 207 extremely ugly! I don´t have anything against peugeots, but its big wild animal-like mouth looks just awful and the hole design just says "hello, I'm here, pay attention to me" - that's not nice!
You know what I don't understand. When the tv hosts say what the kids will enjoy about the car. It's just that I know my parents couldn't care less about my enjoyment whist coming along the trip. Do you (or did your parents / or even both) ever care on what your thoughts were to keep the kids happy?
@Vauxhall94 If you've got a half of Europe long way ahead of you a two hildren on the back seats, you'll be glat to have anything to keep hem from shouting, fighting with each other or by any other means disturbing your attention (taht you should pay to teh raod). And when children are not comfortably seated it gets just worse.
PEUGEOT all the way!! Much better than a Skoda in terms of looks, drive, power, comfort and practicality. How can a 1.6 HDI be quicker than a 1.9 TDi? The PEUGEOT is a far nicer looking car as well!........
@cmagennis927 Well, well, well ... you have got a "sport" version, am I right? Skoda has RS, which has 130hp ... so, please, compare the comparable. Btw. yes, Skoda is PD, but HDI is CR - do you know durability of it and price for servicing it? If not, you should not try to ask or you will get more than older :D
Aaand, dont try to chip Peugeot, you should be glad if it runs ... but Fabia 130->160 / 105->140 without any problems .... SO, WHAT IS BETTER CHOICE? ;)
@ForestTDI Well remapping a TDi is a bad idea, my friend has a 02 Golf GT TDi 115 and its remapped to 145hp and it gives so much trouble! The car has been destroyed by remapping it.... Also if i was to remap my 207 HDi 110 I could get 140bhp out of it!! And I have remapped many of my previous Peugeots and they ran perfectly :D! In this 207 vs Fabia test the 207 is CLEARLY the better car to own!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I would have the Peugeot, never a Skoda. The 207 is far nicer looking and sportier, also it more fuel efficient and comfortable. The peugeot is not as bland either as the skoda
So I say why not just buy a good used 1st gen Fabia estate instead?, the new fabia basically uses the same platform as before anyway and I have my suspicions that VW tried to cut costs a little with the new fabia.
Pugs are really boring these days, they dont lead in any way. The 205 306 are really the only decent cars they did. SKoda on the other hand offer very well built cars, some say that skodas are even better built than audis. Which makes sense as when the first fabia, octavia and superb came out VW had just pumped billions into a new plant in Czech Rep, same guy that designed the Bentley conti designed the 1st gen fabia, and VW would of made sure quality was top notch.
Can`t agree. Only had problems with ours. In 3years clutch, gearbox, gloveboxlid and seatbeltlock has been replaced. Radio connection had to be fixed, enginecover was loose suddenly and now the sidemirrors can`t be folded in. The new gearbox feels like it`s not syncroniced and the dealers respoce was to change to a thinner gearoil without luck.It still has to be doublecluthed to change smooth. Will not buy Skoda again
BrambleH peugeot is french and shit so it will fall apart as soon as it rolls out the factory gates, skoda may have a rubbish badge but most of their new cars are based on vw so they will run like clockwork forever
Not most Skoda's are based on VW but EVERY new Skoda model is mechanicaly and technicaly designed and made by VW and have german quality which speaks for itself. The only difference between Polo and Fabia is the looks and some equipment which is available in Polo is not available in Fabia... Like the DSG gearbox and some tiny bits, like chrome dials etc.
My gf has a Peugeot 206 and I can tell you it's falling in pieces and rattling big time. I drive a german brand and you can feel the difference from the moment you step in my car.......I agree French cars are crap.....
i DRIVE A SKODA FABIA AND IT IS A GREAT CAR , BUT IT ISNT FRENCH ITS MADE IN THE CZECN REPUBLIC AND IS BASICALTHE SAME CAR AS AN VW AND THEREFORE USES SOME OF THE SAME PARTS
My situation is a little bit like this one in the test. My girlfriend has a Peugeot 206 and I a Skoda Felicia. We both love so much our cars that, when it comes the time to get a "family car", we will probably split. I will only trade my Felicia for another Skoda and her for a Peugeot!!
French cars are totally a wracks, ask mechanics , people beware of this French shit! any cars which were not so faulty was laguna 98-2001 Clio and scenic to 2001 rest is completly crap, beware of this shit!
I test drove both of them the Peugeot Is a load dunk peugeot has lost the plot can't they make cars like they used to along time ago.........the skoda Is my favourite you can go into a corner so fast and have confidence cus the brakes are awesome..Vicky are you feelin okay.....
In fact I drove both cars also. Both as a test to know which to buy.....Well, we bought the skoda fabia combi sport 1.4, and it's a marvellous car. Yes, at flat out I hear the engine.....but that's a lovely noise !
Only the aston martin DB5 that I drove from Tilburg to Antwerp has a better sound.
Close the doors of a skoda and compare this with the peugeot and compare the space inside. the brakes of the skoda are superb and the eps makes you launch in a split second.
Skoda is a truly great car and a DEFINITE good value for money.. when it comes to design then the French are playfull while the czechs are conservative. Buy the Fabia with a white roof and you have a funky car!
wtf? i drove both cars and vicky you are full of crap. peugeot is only goodlooking. steering has no connection to road at all, stick is slow and imprecise. skoda is a much better car to drive except for the tdi engine. tdi has no manners whatsoever.
so the Peugeot is better but the Skoda wins...did you guys by any chance work in Florida circa 2000 during the Gore/Bush presidential race?
