  • That last verse gives me chills every time.

  • Saw him do this live here in Dublin Ireland back in the 80's. Loved it then and it just get better with age.

  • This guy is fucking awesome

  • that's right, I am from Texas, right close to Lyle and he is one of our treasures...

  • Genius Singer Songwriter --- his music will make ya get up dance, ** listen in the quiet to the lyrics ** sadness -------- His song She's No Lady She's My Wife -- want that played @ wedding!!! think it is great song, -- if the families really do get along. He is a marvel. Lyle Lovett, Tom Waits, Richard Thompson -- all favorites.

  • @netw52 I also saw them at the Meyerson and boy they didn't disappoint.

  • Going to see Lyle and John Hiatt tonight at the Meyerson in Dallas. Should be an evening to remember.

  • Only ever new him as Mr Julia Roberts (uNtil a few years ago) How much did I miss A truely Great Talent

  • Love it! Lyles music is addictive! Almost always makes me smile~ :-)

  • I'm not a big country fan, but I always have loved Lyle's music. This is among my favorite of his and one of my favorite songs I've ever heard.

  • I have loved Lyle since the 1st time I heard him...do you know he won a grammy for new country artist? He never ceases to amaze me...his lyrics always touch my soul.

  • it sure is nice to live down the road from him (spring-cypress road) in klein, texas. going to see him perform silent night in its' original german at trinity lutheran church on christmas eve. some people don't like living in the houston suburbs, but i think it's got its' perks! :D

  • Incredible artist, writer and I'm still kicking myself for missing him live in my town.... Stupid ME!!!

  • @roulette67 No offence, but that was a huge mistake to miss this god of a musician. Unlucky friend, I hope for your benefit you get another opportunity like that again in the future :)

  • I dig the heck out of Lyle Lovett..good stuff

  • Lyle is way cool. Not too much to look at for sure. But he is one talented guy. Gotta respect that.

  • Lyle and Robert. Both made it big pro-A&M. See kids. Anybody can thrive in B/CS. If your grades are declining-then pick up songwriting. A&M don't give ya credits for that..But if it's what ya want to do; then do it. NIKE. #903-call-nike? Commercials await.

  • Lyle is great. Love him more and more every time I listen to him play. A truly amazing talent.

  • I'm sorry;he's got crazy lyrics;plays two chords at most; sings a one note monotone;and looks like an ostrich..pls...

  • @oldobbie Shows how much you know about music doesn't it?

  • @oldobbie I think you should watch him in person before making such negative comments. Your view would change without a doubt. If not, crawl back into your shallow hole and lie amongst those who suffer from the same unhappy life you must be experiencing... May god help you in removing your head from your ass....

  • @oldobbie There are many fans who think his talent is so great, you may have to stand on your grandmother's shoulders, just to kiss his ass.

  • Maybe my favorite LL.

The music is better than the lyrics.

    And the lyrics are fantastic!

  • @Bamaboompa

The lyrics are kind of depressing, it took me forever to figure out what he was talking about because I was so wrapped up in the music. Do you have any thoughts on the lyrics? He's super talented and I'm not being critical, just curious as to anyone's thoughts about it.

  • I know what you mean. When I finally listened to the lyrics I was blown away.

  • He taps his foot when he plays :)

  • Wow this is great! I m definitely going to see him when he comes to Sydney

  • Great Song!!!

  • Shit man!! This is amaaazing stuff!!

  • I could listen to this tune over and over and never get sick of it! This song got me hooked on LL!

  • Lyle lovett is from Texas and proud of it. He went to Texas A&M University.

  • You can just tell Lyle Lovett is a wonderful human being.

  • Lyle Lovett is a testament to the fact that soul is not something that is related to only one genre of music. Be it R&B, Soul, Country, good old Danish Folk Music, Jazz or whatever. Soul is something that transcends everything. So is style, wit, musicality and a lovely personality. Lyle has got a lot of it all.

  • Has anyone heard the John D. Hale Band do this tune? They give it the what for!

  • Loved this guy's music since the 80's.

  • i probably would have done if i was around then but tbh only heard of him this week....love it all already :D

  • Lyle is an awesome lousiana, style musician. Back to the roots. He was married to Julia Roberts, and had Francine Reed (wild women) play as his back-up for a while. Take it to heart. If you love the music you'll understand it without any ????

  • Didn't hear this song before. Sounds great!

  • Please allow for some poetic license and

humor (dark or otherwise.) If capable, try to refrain from self riotous, idiotic and pointless statements. This dude Lyle is an artistic/musical treasure.

  • I'm a guitar player and love the guitar but sometimes I wish I could write songs.

I need something to heal my brokent heart, don't mean to vent just saying I wish I could compose lol :D

  • writing songs just seem to come from the air! That's usually how these guys did it. it comes fast, but ya better remember to write it down quick! lol, we write the best songs from a "broken heart"!

  • This guy is really disturbed but I still like his music.

My college boyfriend deserted me so I can relate to the sentiment. I wouldn't commit a crime, but we've all had dark thoughts. Hehehe

  • I love the intro - paraphrased "a while back a woman I cared for left me and I tried to deal with it in the most 'sensative' way I could. So I wrote a song about a man who goes to a wedding and shoots the bride and groom."

  • Giveitallthegusto, you are a sad, strange person.

  • "He truly has a big heart" i totally agree but i do find it kinda funny that this song is about him killing two people haha

  • No one better than Lyle Lovett. He is a true genius!

  • He truly has a big heart. Saw him playing in a small church near my house last wednesday. I went home very happy.

  • "Shes already made up her mind"-another cool Lyle tune.

    my playlist:

  • Lyle's got some REAL country soul. You can not deny such a sincere and genuine feeling that comes across with his singing no matter what your pre-conceptions of country music may be. A true Texas hero.

  • I think you hit it on the head. He transcends country music too. Country, Soul, Folk, Rock, its a huge mix. But the cool thing is that it is his own style. You don't need labels if you have that.

  • It's not as "banal" as some country music now... I like uniqueness, oh and TEXAS!!! It's a great "country."

  • This song cracks me up.

  • WHAT a song.... God damn.

    That .45 told them goodbye.

  • Has the poor man had a stroke? He's done well as his voice isn't affected

  • First time I heard this song it was at one of his concerts and it floored me. Sounds great live in concert and on his CD. Thanks for posting the video.

  • He is the man, I love me some Lyle Lovett

  • Lyle Lovett understands that great music -whatever style (even country)- comes from the folkiness...he tells great tales. Even the heavier stuff around, when it's good has its roots in folk, despite the distortion...Lyle is not afraid to bare his flaws too...he lives in the moment and is not trying for that next Number 1 hit...some of the most haunting, strange and beautiful songs over the past 20 years...

  • well said

  • Even people who detest country love Lyle Lovett's music. I am one of them! He is 100% talent, with no flash. He is my definition of cool.

  • Awesome video. There is *nothing* like seeing Lyle perform. I watch him perform every year at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga. There is nothing better. I also found a great article on Fretbase about how he gets the sound he does. The post also included this video!

  • i am a die hard metal fan but my mom loves hi and this song ios cool cause ppl die in it

  • Love this song too!

  • One of my favorite songs, by my favorite performer of the last 25 years.

  • lyle lovett is my favorite singiet=r int the world

  • Great performance of a freakin amazing song!!
