@theZodiacDigital So you're saying if a ball was heading directly at your head, rather then putting your hands/arms in front of you're face which is what most people would instinctually do, you would raise your arms as high as you possibly can in the air?
@rtschumacher1 i don't know what most people would do, haven't done a poll or researched it (neither have you i presume). even if it wasn't the most common response, i've seen it enough times that i think it's an acceptable response. the reason being that your elbow is the strongest part of your arm. it makes a lot more sense than using your hands (except as fists maybe). if the ball had hit at the highest point, i'd worry about that then. but it didn't.
@theZodiacDigital But his arms are no where near his face. So how can you say he's protecting his head? Look at his left arm. Absolutely no where near his face yet raised as high as possible. Even if he didn't consciously raise his arm to touch the ball the intent is still there. Why else would he raise his arms?
You're whole understanding of the rule is wrong. You think that the player has to be thinking "I'm going to reach out and touch this ball" because you have read some passage without seeing in in context. How many players actually think like that? When people wave their arms in the box you have to question why they are. And if there is no good reason you have to award the penalty. Look at Lescott v Chelsea, RIchards v Liverpool. I could give you 100 examples.
@rtschumacher1 i can give you 100 examples of a player in an offside position scoring, doesn't make it right to give, does it? i would like to see the passage "in context'... since i'm pretty sure i read it in context. but if you think i didn't, sure, give me the context.
as far as that video... i agree with the dutch guy (forgot his name) that it was a foul given outside the box. second one, i think yeah he's got his shirt but looking over 2 legs, same thing happened to henry.
@rtschumacher1 (continued) the foul wasn't given for henry so don't give it to drogba. either both or none. the third one i said (pique) penalty and they said penalty too. fourth one, they said penalty. i said no. oh well.
bottom line, some decisions i agree some i disagree... but if barcelona had gotten that henry penalty and played the whole 2nd leg with 11, who knows? they may have had everyone back defending and there wouldn't have been this counters / penalty claims.
Come on man the last one is OBVIOUSLY an intentional hand ball. If you've played soccer all your life like I have, and like Eto'o has, you know that in your box you better keep your hands down and stuck to your body. There's NO NEED to raise your arm like Eto'o did there. It's not even covering his head it's just sticking up towards the side
@theZodiacDigital The reason it's intentional is because there is NO possible way of his arms getting into that position without raising them there himself. And that my friend, is intention.
@theZodiacDigital A world class ref? Where is he now? Have you seen his Italy Romania match? His Bayern Fiorentina match? His Greece Latvia match? You're saying it's unintentional but why are his arms in the air? Does he run with his arms in the air? Was he trying to start a rave? Did his arms just FALL into that position? There's your intent right there. Check out the reviews of this match and the penalty in the Chelsea Man City match.Exactly the same and all experts are in unanimous agreement
@rtschumacher1 He's semi-retired, referees in his home nation only now... and that is relevant how? He was world class when the game was taking place, if he suffered severe brain damage and became a hobo the next day that is not really relevant.
I don't recall his Italy-Romania match since I'm not obsessive, but he may have had a few bad decisions, of course. And I'm supposing you, the amazing guy who NEARLY referees 18 year olds has never had a bad game?
@rtschumacher1 on his wiki it says he won the referee of the year award 5 times in norway. sure, norway is not the world's most important league but if he "never had a good game in his life" then how come he kept winning awards? the page goes on to list 5 games there was controversy. considering he's been a ref for 20 years, it doesn't seem too bad a record. when you win multiple referee awards for senior level professional football and get selected to CL matches, we'll talk.
@theZodiacDigital The point is he has refereed 4 major competitions and in all 4 he has made terrible errors. He may be a fine referee in Norway but the large international competitions he has refereed he has been consistently bad.
@rtschumacher1 i'm not going to come here and argue every call of 4 different games he refereed, that's not really what my point was. my point was that your qualifications of a guy who "almost referees 18 year olds" are meaningless. if you're saying a guy who won multiple awards in senior-level pro football is a blind idiot, you can't also claim that because you referee some minor games that makes you some kind of un-reproachable expert.
@theZodiacDigital I'm not saying he's a blind idiot. I'm saying he's a bad referee which he is. He has been terrible in large competitions. Not world class, rather "Norway class". Watch Chelsea v Manchester City. Exactly the same thing and nobody bats an eyelid. Watch the post game analysis of this game. All said that was on of the most obvious penalties. Have you wondered why people have been so against your judgement in the comments of this video? Open your mind and watch some football.
@rtschumacher1 fine, norway class. whatever. 5 time best referee in senior level pro in norway is STILL 100x more impressive than being a random amateur ref in england.
i've noticed the majority of feedback in spanish is positive while that in english is negative. since it's in english, i've gotten more english (negative) feedback. i think at it's core it's mostly chelsea vs. barcelona fans.
also, chelsea fans seek out this video more in general.
@theZodiacDigital Fair enough but you still haven't answered my question. Why are his arms in the air? Does he run like that? Was he celebrating already? There is no way his arms could get into that position unless he put them there himself, which is intention.
@rtschumacher1 maybe i didn't explain well, but to me it's an instinctual reaction that occurs in split seconds. his turn was to protect his head. it hit a random part (not his elbow by a long shot) close to the opposite side of his shoulder if that makes any sense. it's almost his arm pit. to me it would be very harsh to award a penalty at that point for two reasons (a) intent and (b) the part of his body it hit. both are borderline, but for consistency's sake i would say no.
@theZodiacDigital How is it instinctual? His arms aren't protecting any part of his body. In fact if he didn't raise his arms he would not have touched the ball. In all the games of football I've seen, I've never seen a person raise their arms to maximum height purely based on instinctual. Since he is not covering any part of his body the only logical explanation is that it's intentional.
@rtschumacher1 It is instinctual to protect your face with your arms. Another time I can recall when a player protecting his face with his arms, and the ball hit his hands, and a penalty was not given was when Abidal protected his face from a bicycle kick I think against Real Madrid in the last Clasico. The "maximum height" only LOOKS bad, but since it didn't play a part (the ball hitting him very close to the body) I don't think it's relevant.
@theZodiacDigital Of course it's relevant. I the ball was coming towards my face I would shield my face with my arms not raise them as high as possible in the air.
@rtschumacher1 you're talking about decision-making now, not instincts. yea, it would've been just as effective to (1) take the blast to the body and not arouse suspicion of handball or (2) cover your face with your elbows and keep your hands not raised as highly. the ball would have been blocked regardless and it'd be less suspicious. but we're talking about split-second decision making. if you believe that he did that on purpose i respect that. i just happen to disagree.
@theZodiacDigital don't argue with them, something nasty about football is the hipocrisy and biased involved in it, all the people saying barça cheated in this match are the same ones who said inter won fair at san ciro semis...haters gonna hate, and there are a lot of haters in football. visca barça!
You know nothing about handballs. By the rule, yes, you have to deliberately handle it. But when you put your arms in a position where they are likely to touch the ball, you should be penalized. That's why players put their arms behind their backs in the box!
Hehehe. First of all, i'm not a Chelsea nor a Barcelona fan, so the result isn't important to me. But you're going on and on about intentional handball or not, but it seems you don't know that in play when the ball approaches you, you can NOT, i repeat CAN NOT reach out your arms. Because intentionally or not, if you do, chances are the ball's gonna hit your arm. That's why you see a lot of defenders grabbing their hands behind their back, especially within the 16 meter area, to avoid a handball
abidal fouls drogba with his left foot? at this speed how would you like drogba to fall to earn a penalty? your logic in non-sense. that's a 100% penalty. on yaya's tackle - yes it was clean, but he wa pulling drogba's arm. pause exactly at 2:04 and you will see how yaya is pulling drogba, while at the same time blocking his right leg when going for the ball. 100% penalty. abidal's red card was really a bs, but that does not make up for the two penalties earlier. pique's handball = 100%
MESSSI MESSI MEESSII......STFU LIL BIACHT IS JUS SOCCER IS ALL ABOUT ARGENTINA AND THE BEST PLAYERS AROUND THE WORRD ENGLAND PLEASE GO EN SUCK QUEENS MARGARET FUCKING TACH... CUNT YOU SUCKS AND YOU MAKE NO SENCE ABOUT SOCCER!!!!
God I saw this coming. It was like you sent a message out the National Association of Dumbasses. When they heard that you had put up a video of Barca beating a decent
English team they flocked in their millions to abuse and fuck up this good site. Next time just show a Fifa game where Chelsea thrash Barcelona 10-0 'cause that's the only thing that these guys want to see.
It's kinda sad that you have so many dislikes because this is a great video, the best I've seen, and it's just your opinion.
fuck you you faggy barcelona fan! stick with baseball and american football. push on anelka was penalty + red card. also there were two more penalties when barca players used their hands in penalty area to stop the ball. don't bullshit me about that it wasn't intentional hand play. if you prevent someone from scoring by stopping the ball with your hand it's penalty whether it's intentional or not!
@ticke153 read the laws of the game. link is in description. handball must be deliberate. it frankly doesn't matter if you dont think so because thats still the rule.
@theZodiacDigital You are pretty funny man, it cant be as simple as you describe it.
If a player spreads his hands to the sides it doesnt matter if he intentionally touched the ball or not, as he takes more space.
Both handballs when anelka and ballack played, Barca players did NOT keep their hands near their body's, but speard them beyond needed, and in both times prevented a 100% goal by doing so- and THATS a penalty.
@atraf21 no,ballack handball wasnt a penalty, because every player can protect his self with his arm when the ball already will hit in ur chest or ur face, and u can clearly see that the ball touched him in the middle between his shoulders and his elbow the same level with his shoulders,if it touched his elbow, wrist, forehand or his hand it will be clear penalty but it didnt.
@theZodiacDigital You are interpreting the rules wrong. I'm a Level 7 referee in ENGLAND and I ref matches up to under 18's. If you actually watched football you would realise you couldn't be more wrong. If a defender raises their arms in the penalty box the benefit of the doubt switches to the attacker since you CANNOT raise your arms in a penalty box. Also the Drogba one was a penalty too. Abidal was on the wrong side of him, had no chance of getting the ball and pulling his shirt.
@rtschumacher1 you may be nearly reffing under 18s, but tom henning overbo was one of the top referees in the world for years. in the ballack penalty appeal he seemed to have a decent view of it. my guess is that he agrees with my interpretation of the rules and the play. you're entitled to disagree. your qualifications don't matter to me though. as i said, one of the top refs in the world seemed to be on my side,
@rtschumacher1 im barca fan, and i admit it to everyone that there was two penalties the one between drogba and abidal and pique handball the rest isnt clear penalties, pique hand was intentional and even if it wasnt or it was already going to alvez they are both clear penalties and yellow card for pique, but since ur a referee what do u think about henry's penatiey?
okay hearing your oh maybe it wasnt a foul i was like whatever maybe it wasnt but the last handball wasnt a penatly ? i have to say you are retarted it doesnt matter if its intentional if the arm is away from your body and touches the ball its penalty everytime you are just to blind cause your a barca and trust me i hate chelsea
@theZodiacDigital so your saying that an unintentional handball is never a pk ? i guess i been watching a different sport hahahaha then why would defenders put there arms behind them when they try to prevent a cross or block a shot to avoid from it hitting your arms. your just to big of a barca fan to admit this was a disgrace .
@WikDgunner yes. an unintentional handball is never a pk. that is per the rules. the problem lies in how you interpret intent, since there is no way to know for sure. a defender will try his best for the ball not to come in contact with his hands so there is no chance for the referee to think he was attempting to intentionally touch it with his hands. there are different ways of interpreting intent. but intent DOES matter.
An intentional handball is when you make yourself bigger with your arms and hands in order to block a shot/cross, etc., so technically they were intentional.
Do you even know the rules of the game? It does not have to be intentional. If the ball is heading toward goal and it touches your arm in an unnatural position, it's a penalty, no questions asked. By raising his arm, Eto'o is making himself as a target bigger illegally and is thus a penalty. Not even going to comment on the Pique one. I don't think I have ever seen a more blatant penalty.
@rtschumacher1 It DOES have to be intentional. Read the official laws of the game. It says so quite clearly. The link is in the description. Please read the rules before talking about what the rules are.
@bigball23121 "It does not have to be intentional" is what you said. And I said "it DOES have to be intentional." Don't call me a "fucking idiot" for proving you wrong on the thing you said. Now you're changing your tune, which is fine. But don't blame me for you being wrong.
@theZodiacDigital Yes that is what they say but then how many people purposefully block the ball with their hands? How many penalties are given for handballs every year? Plenty. Are you saying all of them are like Suarez in the world cup? Of course not. How many games have you actually people put their hands in front of the ball? Check out the Chelsea Man City Lescott penalty. Exactly the same thing as the Eto'o appeal. Not even he complains. Stop reading and go out and actually watch some games
Hey if barca are such cheaters and football or fifa is corrupted then just abandon football and boycott the games to make your point fucking babies I swear....
@PauloDaysTv Go fuck off you dumbass fag. Chelsea should of had 4 penalties but you deny this because you are a barca fag. Chelsea dominated barca because barca only had one shot on goal. Barca are a shit team that have to pay the refs to win games. Now go suck on Barca's dicks.
im not a chelsea or barca fan but when i see comments like "ha there all you barca haters go fuck yourself chelsea dives like crazy, barca best team"
omg hell no, ive never seen a team that dives more than barca and ive never seen a team that the refs prefer more than barcaa couple of champions leagues ago when inter beat barca, how thiago motta got a red card is complete bull shit busquets is a terrible excuse of a soccer player good for mourinho to shove it in the barca fans faces
@wezzy7hits and i suppose when milito scored while 2 miles offside, that was the referees preferring barcelona? and when bojan scored a goal that would have won the tie for barca, and it was called off, that was the referees favoring barcelona again?
you have the kind of selective memory mourinho would be proud of.
@theZodiacDigital EXACTLY! the 3-1 loss they took to inter was a complete scandal! and then all the dirty shit they did in the nou camp! everyone wants to think that barca pays refs and uefa favors barca, but the champions league final was being held in the bernabeu that year. doesnt anyone think that madrid did everything in their power to make sure that barca, their most hated rivals, didnt win the most prized possession in football in their stadium?! come on now!
1st Drogba "dive". The Barca player puts his leg across Drogba's feet TWICE with out any contact of the ball. The second time time he puts his leg across, if you look closely, you could actually see him stepping on Drogba's foot. A blatent trip up. And just because its exaggerated doesn't mean it's not a foul. Definite penalty.
2nd Drogba "dive". The final tackle is brilliant. But The whole time Toure has his hand grabbing shirt, and at times he even puts his arms around Drogba. Definite Foul.
i think british football is harder than in other countries and why cry the chelsea fans thats football there are sometimes hard tackles that look like a foul but they arent
I love this video this shwo the real. Barcelona are the best team ever they play greatest football ever thats why fucking all people are jealous and say referee referee whats that fucking gays specially fucking madrid fans they have only referee every time haha fucking bitches we will always fuck you every team and specially fucking bitch madrid....Visca el barca
the last two were penalties because if a players arms is up not on his side and it hits then its a penalty.......and the first i mean come on any other referee would have given it, the second one eto's hand was up and its a penalty ok he was trying not to get the ball to hit him in the face but with his arm up and going into the ball thats a penalty.... also barcelona with henry falling down its a penalty.
theZodiacDigital aka mr. super referee IF THE HAND IS AWAY FROM BODY/ HE DOESNT HOLD THE HAND AGAINST HIS BODY, ITS A INTENTIONAL HAND BALL. well played mr. best referee ever. barcafag and im united fan, aka chelsea hater.
@bigball23121 Are you familiar with the term "hand to ball" and "ball to hand"? Search it on the rules again if you must. Now which one was Etoo's handball? Did he really have his hand to the ball or the other way around? I rest my case.
@frankyeahman Wow, so mature. Saying names when you can't win an argument. So hard core dude. BTW, you loved me that much ha. So much that you've looked into my history and stalked me? LOL. You can't win against someone's argument, so you say names, block the person from counter commenting back to your blatant disgrace of a video, and stalk them? And I'm the one who's trolling? *rolls eyes*
@bawenang it's 'cause I'm mature enough not to argue but young enough to offend you and it's not called stalking. I just happened to have clicked on your user name. Come on who would like to stalk a gay boy? And from the looks of it you spend your day on-line commenting on videos and other users. Get a life! :)
@frankyeahman if you want to say to disagree about sport events, feel free. but going on talking about people with personal attacks is unnecessary, and frankly, stupid.
by the way, there is nothing wrong with being gay.
@frankyeahman Wow, now I am gay? Your vocabulary has put even Shakespeare to shame, really. Offend whom? Me? LoL. IMHO it's not immature if it's not an argumentum ad ignorantiam. I've given you my reasoning, common sense and prove and yet you've only been calling me names and such instead of disproving me. And I've got a life, thank you. I just got bored at work and You Tube is one of my main stress relieve, besides 9gag, and xkcd. Then again, whatever floats your boat dude. Bye.
@bigball23121 Gee, thanks. But i wouldn't want to take that from you. I'm not worthy. But then again it's not worth replying someone who resort to calling names when they can't win an argument. Disprove me wrong or fuck off.
@bigball23121 handballs do have to be intentional, there is a link in the description to the official rules of the game from FIFA.com, I suggest you read them before making more statements about what they contain.
@bigball23121 Like he said, the handball has to be deliberate to warrant a foul. In FIFA's Laws of the Game, Law 12: "A direct free kick is also awarded to the opposing team if a player commits any of the following three offences: 1. holds an opponent 2. spits at an opponent 3. handles the ball deliberately (except for the goalkeeper within his own penalty area). A penalty kick is awarded if any of the above offences is committed by a player inside his own penalty area."
finally somebody who knows what he says. im from spain and real cule (barcafan) and hate people who say they pay the referee because those peoply are mostly some guys that dont have idea of football
@OyeQuePasaHombre true, madrid/chelsea fans are quick to ignore when calls don't fall barca's way... like pedro's shot at espanyol that was blocked by the hands and resulted in a draw, lass not being sent off and madrid substituting him to mount a comeback, a lot of wrong offside calls.. calls that i disagree with happen, unfortunately, but that does not prove some sort of conspiracy or corruption. they happen for and against barca, it's just the way it is in the game.
@OyeQuePasaHombre shut up you barca dick sucker. You can see that chelsea should of had about 4 or 5 penalties but the ref didn't give them because barca cheating scums payed him.
Everyone hating on this guy for saying he's american and thus he can't possibly know shit about football should shut the fuck up. He's not american in the first place and second of all, it seems he actually knows the rules to the game, particularly the handball rule.
It's not even like he's saying ever penalty appeal was wrong, some were skeptical and he admits that, but really a lot were not. Suck it up and face it, Chelsea fans putting their loss on someone else
@unitedman1997 "soccer" is a term invented by british people, you know that? that's why americans and australians both use it, because they were colonized by the british empire
@GhanaEssien5 right, and youre making chelsea fans look good by not being able to read and comprehend, and by going around insulting people for little to no reason.
abidal never deserved his red ..... henry should have gotten a penalty .... the only giveable handball for me was the pique ....!!! ... that was blatant!
Are u fu*king crazy or what?Unintentional hand? That doesn't exist my friend. This was the biggest cheat in football,I was so furious that night and I am not even big Chelsea fan so please.
@ciro1511 Look up the Laws of the Game from FIFA.com. There you will see the rule clearly states a handball can ONLY be called if it is INTENTIONAL. Before you call me crazy or tell me about what doesn't exist, READ THE LAWS OF THE GAME. Thank you.
@7osnia I have read the Laws of the Game, have you? It does not seem likely as there is nothing in it about "the hand changing the ball's direction". If there is, do tell me the page so I can look it up?
@theZodiacDigital referring to the laws of the game ,An indirect free kick is also awarded to the opposing team if, in the oppinion of the referee a player :• impedes the progress of an opponent. Ballack's shot was totally hindered the progress of scoring a goal or at least possessing a threat , don't you agree?
@7osnia you're misreading the law. it's if the player impedes the progress of an OPPONENT, not the ball. otherwise ANY block (be it with the foot, arm, body, head, whatever) would be "impeding the progress of the ball". also, notice that "impeding an opponent" leads to an INDIRECT free kick. an indirect free kick - EVEN IN THE BOX - does not give you a penalty. indirect free kicks in the box are rare but they are not penalties.
@theZodiacDigital well the player's progress would have been accomplished if his shot had passed through , get my point ? Another thing was in p.123 , it was mentioned that "There are two sending-off offences that deal with denying an opponent
an obvious opportunity to score a goal" , this goes with michael ballak's shot and anelka's pushing the ball through pique as well ..
@7osnia no, i don't get your point. the "impeding progress" law is about using your body to stop another body, it has nothing to do with the trajectory of the ball. you're just reading it wrong.
as far as "denying an obvious opportunity" it means you get sent off if you commit a foul which denies an obvious opportunity... that just tells you the punishment. it's not the OFFENSE in itself. only if through another law you prove there was a foul, THEN that law tells you to show a red.
@sharkenstein1 right, like send off abidal for no reason. that SURE helped barcelona a lot, right? MU lost because they were played off the park by barca in the final. ask ANY of the players or even SAF, they'll tell you. stop with the excuses.
@theZodiacDigital i didn't expect such a serious and in-depth reply after my words.... yeah, i'll mail all the players and ask why MU lost that final. i know why, because messi won it.
if you still didn't understand, i expressed my anger about that accident, nothing more.
@sharkenstein1 it's actually quite simple, if you're to believe the ref did EVERYTHING he could to advance barca, why did he unfairly send off one of their players? that's not in depth, that's BASIC reasoning.
you don't have to mail all the MU players, because they have said so themselves in interviews already: had nothing to do with the refs, they were just played off the park.
@GunZKillAV2 imagine a person running forward then abruptly turning his entire body to avoid an object being blasted straight at their faces (which actually can result in injury). often when this happens, the hands will naturally come up. do you think eto'o WANTED to move his face out of the way so it would hit his hands, or do you think he moved his face out of the way and it SO HAPPENED to hit his hands, incidentally?
@theZodiacDigital I agree with almost everything but the Ballack situation had to be a penalty. Any handball that prevents the ball from going inside the goal is a penalty, intentional or not.
@suspendmeassholes read the laws of the game from FIFA.com. The laws clearly state that ONLY intentional handballs can be called. whether or not it was going to be a goal or not doesn't really matter. It only matters in that IF it was intentional you have to send them off for denying a goalscoring opportunity. But if it's not intentional, it doesn't matter. Read the laws of the game, it's not long at all and it clearly says it MUST be intentional to be called.
Anelka tripped over his own feet. That red card was pathetic. That is why we should implement video technology. And so what if the video uploader is from USA? Why can't he be a football fan? Just because he's from the other side of the world, doesn't mean he doesn't know a thing about football.
This was one of the worst match in Football history, worst referee ever, I'm just glad he was fired after that match. Anywayyyy, it's over, no point getting angry over something that happened in the past.
@jarrenseewankit he wasn't fired, he actually refereed in the next season's champions league (which means he was still considered one of the top referees in the world). he has since retired from european competitions, but he's still a top level referee in norway (his place of origin),
@anglicantian Don't bother, he's clearly a football expert. He's about to tell you that again that it has to be deliberate And that it doesnt say that in the rule book. By his definition there should only be two handballs ever in the history of football; Maradona and Luis Suarez
@78SuperWhite right, you could try to leave a meaningful comment but instead opted to guess my country of origin and then make a stupid generalization about that country.
@theZodiacDigital The bottom line is that not all the calls went in barcas favor but the referee took 4 possible penalties away from Chelsea (3 of which on my opinion are clear handballs but I will say grey area to be diplomatic) and all it would have taken is 1 of those calls to go Chelsea's way and there's a good chance that Barcas champions cup win would never have happend. Hypothetical? Sure, but quite likely
@illestlatino69 do you know how hard it is to chase a game down to 10 men? this season look at the premiership when a team has gone down to 10 men. that man u 8 arsenal 2. man city 6 man u 1. spurs 4 liverpool 0. being a man down can prove disastrous sometimes, and chasing a game is twice as hard.
who knows if chelsea would have been in a position to claim penalties if they werent playing on the counter against ten men? what if henry got that early penalty? all hypothetical.
@theZodiacDigital Whos arguing what would have been better? There were more then 4 instances where Chelsea could have been awarded a penalty shot (like u say grey area could go either way. Except piques that was 100% handball) but in each case Barca was favored. I can understand a ref letting 1 handball because he doesnt want a penalty to decide the game. But in each of the 3 handballs that could have been called either way they were called in favor of barca.
@theZodiacDigital Yes maybe 1 questionable grey area call could be forgiven, like if each of those incidents happend in separate games. But 3 handballs and a couple fouls inside the box, let's get real here things went barcas way there's no denying it.
@illestlatino69 but that's not what i'm arguing about. i'm not arguing whether it's better to have 4 penalties or 1 penalty and an extra man (what barcelona could have had). i don't really want to speculate on the hypotheticals.
there are people who think that EVERY CALL should be chelsea's, and that every decision favored barce. simply not true. and that they were all black and white wrong decisions. also not true. all of which leads to a conspiracy. which is a load of crap.
Yes, a part for the two penalties not given to Barcelona.
One in the first match and one in the second. If you're going to be hypothetical, ask yourself what would've happened if Barcelona had got only 1 of those penalties. And even more in the second leg (handball in the area of Chelsea, I thought it happened to Cole).
@theZodiacDigital Also your literal interpretation of the rules is idiotic because aside from Luis suarezs WC insident, there is almost never a clearly deliberate handball scenario. The ref has to determine when it should be a penalty, I have already listed in earlier posts why they were. Also the majority of people here and the commentators of the post match analysis share my opinion. Your a barca fan, so your analysis of your team fucking Chelsea over and opinion means jack shit
@illestlatino69 "The ref has to determine when it should be a penalty," DING DING DING congratulations! You have JUST understood my point. No penalty aside from a Luis Suarez scenario is a 100% deliberate handball. Other things, like Eto'o's arm in this game, are in a gray area where yes sometimes they are given and sometimes they are not. Why? Because it is a judgement call. So talks of cheating or conspiracy are useless.
@theZodiacDigital Okay so because you don't give barca the henry penalty your not biased? THERE ARE 3 CLEAR HANDBALLS THERE IN THE VIDEO. All of which you agree could have been let go.
@theZodiaDigital there's honestly no debate to be had here, Chelsea should have won, 3 hand balls and a penalty appeal. Your defending of the literal wording of the rules means nothing
@theZodiacDigital That the least sense of anything you've said thus far. I call it like I see it pal, not thru my fanboy glasses. Which is exactly my point, all you barca supporters refuse to admit your team is full of diving pussies
@illestlatino69 You're saying Henry should be given a penalty, and in the video I said I would not give it. And I'm a Barcelona fanboy? You're a self-admitted madrid fan and you would give barcelona a penalty I would not have given them. I'm a barca fanboy?
@theZodiacDigital. Yes I am a Madrid fan. Don't compare Drogbas appeals to shit like iniestas dive this season against Sevilla in the final minute, Sergio busquets, marcerano, faking they were hit in the face an messi faking being hit in the hand (by Marcelo) n Danny Alves getting Pepe sent off after faking getig kicked in the leg (fag barca fan boys even edited the footage after trying to disprove it). Don't start this combo with me fanboy cause you'll lose,
Hello.. to the person who made this video....... FUCK YOU.
SprayVomit 1 day ago
@theZodiacDigital So you're saying if a ball was heading directly at your head, rather then putting your hands/arms in front of you're face which is what most people would instinctually do, you would raise your arms as high as you possibly can in the air?
rtschumacher1 3 days ago
@rtschumacher1 i don't know what most people would do, haven't done a poll or researched it (neither have you i presume). even if it wasn't the most common response, i've seen it enough times that i think it's an acceptable response. the reason being that your elbow is the strongest part of your arm. it makes a lot more sense than using your hands (except as fists maybe). if the ball had hit at the highest point, i'd worry about that then. but it didn't.
theZodiacDigital 3 days ago
@theZodiacDigital But his arms are no where near his face. So how can you say he's protecting his head? Look at his left arm. Absolutely no where near his face yet raised as high as possible. Even if he didn't consciously raise his arm to touch the ball the intent is still there. Why else would he raise his arms?
rtschumacher1 2 days ago
@rtschumacher1 Correction: right arm.
rtschumacher1 2 days ago
@theZodiacDigital watch?v=PENQDQ52SOY
I could give you 100 examples.
rtschumacher1 2 days ago
@rtschumacher1 i can give you 100 examples of a player in an offside position scoring, doesn't make it right to give, does it? i would like to see the passage "in context'... since i'm pretty sure i read it in context. but if you think i didn't, sure, give me the context.
as far as that video... i agree with the dutch guy (forgot his name) that it was a foul given outside the box. second one, i think yeah he's got his shirt but looking over 2 legs, same thing happened to henry.
theZodiacDigital 2 days ago
@rtschumacher1 (continued) the foul wasn't given for henry so don't give it to drogba. either both or none. the third one i said (pique) penalty and they said penalty too. fourth one, they said penalty. i said no. oh well.
bottom line, some decisions i agree some i disagree... but if barcelona had gotten that henry penalty and played the whole 2nd leg with 11, who knows? they may have had everyone back defending and there wouldn't have been this counters / penalty claims.

TheFlinglish 6 days ago
It's clearly a bad idea trusting a stupid american speaking about football.
jackiechanmonro 1 week ago
Come on man the last one is OBVIOUSLY an intentional hand ball. If you've played soccer all your life like I have, and like Eto'o has, you know that in your box you better keep your hands down and stuck to your body. There's NO NEED to raise your arm like Eto'o did there. It's not even covering his head it's just sticking up towards the side
Hfutbol8 1 week ago
@theZodiacDigital The reason it's intentional is because there is NO possible way of his arms getting into that position without raising them there himself. And that my friend, is intention.
rtschumacher1 2 weeks ago
@theZodiacDigital A world class ref? Where is he now? Have you seen his Italy Romania match? His Bayern Fiorentina match? His Greece Latvia match? You're saying it's unintentional but why are his arms in the air? Does he run with his arms in the air? Was he trying to start a rave? Did his arms just FALL into that position? There's your intent right there. Check out the reviews of this match and the penalty in the Chelsea Man City match.Exactly the same and all experts are in unanimous agreement
rtschumacher1 2 weeks ago
@rtschumacher1 He's semi-retired, referees in his home nation only now... and that is relevant how? He was world class when the game was taking place, if he suffered severe brain damage and became a hobo the next day that is not really relevant.
I don't recall his Italy-Romania match since I'm not obsessive, but he may have had a few bad decisions, of course. And I'm supposing you, the amazing guy who NEARLY referees 18 year olds has never had a bad game?
theZodiacDigital 1 week ago
@theZodiacDigital Go to his wikipedia page. I don't think he has had a good game as ref.
rtschumacher1 1 week ago
@rtschumacher1 on his wiki it says he won the referee of the year award 5 times in norway. sure, norway is not the world's most important league but if he "never had a good game in his life" then how come he kept winning awards? the page goes on to list 5 games there was controversy. considering he's been a ref for 20 years, it doesn't seem too bad a record. when you win multiple referee awards for senior level professional football and get selected to CL matches, we'll talk.
theZodiacDigital 1 week ago
@theZodiacDigital The point is he has refereed 4 major competitions and in all 4 he has made terrible errors. He may be a fine referee in Norway but the large international competitions he has refereed he has been consistently bad.
rtschumacher1 1 week ago
@rtschumacher1 i'm not going to come here and argue every call of 4 different games he refereed, that's not really what my point was. my point was that your qualifications of a guy who "almost referees 18 year olds" are meaningless. if you're saying a guy who won multiple awards in senior-level pro football is a blind idiot, you can't also claim that because you referee some minor games that makes you some kind of un-reproachable expert.
theZodiacDigital 1 week ago
@theZodiacDigital I'm not saying he's a blind idiot. I'm saying he's a bad referee which he is. He has been terrible in large competitions. Not world class, rather "Norway class". Watch Chelsea v Manchester City. Exactly the same thing and nobody bats an eyelid. Watch the post game analysis of this game. All said that was on of the most obvious penalties. Have you wondered why people have been so against your judgement in the comments of this video? Open your mind and watch some football.
rtschumacher1 1 week ago
@rtschumacher1 fine, norway class. whatever. 5 time best referee in senior level pro in norway is STILL 100x more impressive than being a random amateur ref in england.
i've noticed the majority of feedback in spanish is positive while that in english is negative. since it's in english, i've gotten more english (negative) feedback. i think at it's core it's mostly chelsea vs. barcelona fans.
also, chelsea fans seek out this video more in general.
theZodiacDigital 1 week ago
@theZodiacDigital Fair enough but you still haven't answered my question. Why are his arms in the air? Does he run like that? Was he celebrating already? There is no way his arms could get into that position unless he put them there himself, which is intention.
rtschumacher1 6 days ago
@rtschumacher1 maybe i didn't explain well, but to me it's an instinctual reaction that occurs in split seconds. his turn was to protect his head. it hit a random part (not his elbow by a long shot) close to the opposite side of his shoulder if that makes any sense. it's almost his arm pit. to me it would be very harsh to award a penalty at that point for two reasons (a) intent and (b) the part of his body it hit. both are borderline, but for consistency's sake i would say no.
theZodiacDigital 6 days ago
@theZodiacDigital How is it instinctual? His arms aren't protecting any part of his body. In fact if he didn't raise his arms he would not have touched the ball. In all the games of football I've seen, I've never seen a person raise their arms to maximum height purely based on instinctual. Since he is not covering any part of his body the only logical explanation is that it's intentional.
rtschumacher1 6 days ago
@rtschumacher1 It is instinctual to protect your face with your arms. Another time I can recall when a player protecting his face with his arms, and the ball hit his hands, and a penalty was not given was when Abidal protected his face from a bicycle kick I think against Real Madrid in the last Clasico. The "maximum height" only LOOKS bad, but since it didn't play a part (the ball hitting him very close to the body) I don't think it's relevant.
theZodiacDigital 6 days ago
@theZodiacDigital Of course it's relevant. I the ball was coming towards my face I would shield my face with my arms not raise them as high as possible in the air.
rtschumacher1 4 days ago
@rtschumacher1 you're talking about decision-making now, not instincts. yea, it would've been just as effective to (1) take the blast to the body and not arouse suspicion of handball or (2) cover your face with your elbows and keep your hands not raised as highly. the ball would have been blocked regardless and it'd be less suspicious. but we're talking about split-second decision making. if you believe that he did that on purpose i respect that. i just happen to disagree.
theZodiacDigital 4 days ago
@theZodiacDigital don't argue with them, something nasty about football is the hipocrisy and biased involved in it, all the people saying barça cheated in this match are the same ones who said inter won fair at san ciro semis...haters gonna hate, and there are a lot of haters in football. visca barça!
boss180888 3 days ago
You know nothing about handballs. By the rule, yes, you have to deliberately handle it. But when you put your arms in a position where they are likely to touch the ball, you should be penalized. That's why players put their arms behind their backs in the box!
chrismh1023 2 weeks ago

100% penalty. abidal's red card was really a bs, but that does not make up for the two penalties earlier. pique's handball = 100%

fuck you you faggy barcelona fan! stick with baseball and american football. push on anelka was penalty + red card. also there were two more penalties when barca players used their hands in penalty area to stop the ball. don't bullshit me about that it wasn't intentional hand play. if you prevent someone from scoring by stopping the ball with your hand it's penalty whether it's intentional or not!
ticke153 3 weeks ago
@ticke153 read the laws of the game. link is in description. handball must be deliberate. it frankly doesn't matter if you dont think so because thats still the rule.
theZodiacDigital 3 weeks ago
@theZodiacDigital You are pretty funny man, it cant be as simple as you describe it.
If a player spreads his hands to the sides it doesnt matter if he intentionally touched the ball or not, as he takes more space.
Both handballs when anelka and ballack played, Barca players did NOT keep their hands near their body's, but speard them beyond needed, and in both times prevented a 100% goal by doing so- and THATS a penalty.
atraf21 3 weeks ago
@atraf21 no,ballack handball wasnt a penalty, because every player can protect his self with his arm when the ball already will hit in ur chest or ur face, and u can clearly see that the ball touched him in the middle between his shoulders and his elbow the same level with his shoulders,if it touched his elbow, wrist, forehand or his hand it will be clear penalty but it didnt.
immortalk5 1 week ago
@theZodiacDigital You are interpreting the rules wrong. I'm a Level 7 referee in ENGLAND and I ref matches up to under 18's. If you actually watched football you would realise you couldn't be more wrong. If a defender raises their arms in the penalty box the benefit of the doubt switches to the attacker since you CANNOT raise your arms in a penalty box. Also the Drogba one was a penalty too. Abidal was on the wrong side of him, had no chance of getting the ball and pulling his shirt.
rtschumacher1 2 weeks ago
@rtschumacher1 you may be nearly reffing under 18s, but tom henning overbo was one of the top referees in the world for years. in the ballack penalty appeal he seemed to have a decent view of it. my guess is that he agrees with my interpretation of the rules and the play. you're entitled to disagree. your qualifications don't matter to me though. as i said, one of the top refs in the world seemed to be on my side,

@rtschumacher1 im barca fan, and i admit it to everyone that there was two penalties the one between drogba and abidal and pique handball the rest isnt clear penalties, pique hand was intentional and even if it wasnt or it was already going to alvez they are both clear penalties and yellow card for pique, but since ur a referee what do u think about henry's penatiey?
immortalk5 1 week ago
@immortalk5 I think it was a penalty. His shirt was being pulled and was on the wrong side so it's a penalty. Same as the Drogba one.

WikDgunner 4 weeks ago
@WikDgunner it does matter if its intentional.
theZodiacDigital 3 weeks ago
@theZodiacDigital so your saying that an unintentional handball is never a pk ? i guess i been watching a different sport hahahaha then why would defenders put there arms behind them when they try to prevent a cross or block a shot to avoid from it hitting your arms. your just to big of a barca fan to admit this was a disgrace .
WikDgunner 3 weeks ago
@WikDgunner yes. an unintentional handball is never a pk. that is per the rules. the problem lies in how you interpret intent, since there is no way to know for sure. a defender will try his best for the ball not to come in contact with his hands so there is no chance for the referee to think he was attempting to intentionally touch it with his hands. there are different ways of interpreting intent. but intent DOES matter.
theZodiacDigital 3 weeks ago
An intentional handball is when you make yourself bigger with your arms and hands in order to block a shot/cross, etc., so technically they were intentional.
Itstartshere1111 4 weeks ago
Do you even know the rules of the game? It does not have to be intentional. If the ball is heading toward goal and it touches your arm in an unnatural position, it's a penalty, no questions asked. By raising his arm, Eto'o is making himself as a target bigger illegally and is thus a penalty. Not even going to comment on the Pique one. I don't think I have ever seen a more blatant penalty.
rtschumacher1 1 month ago
@rtschumacher1 It DOES have to be intentional. Read the official laws of the game. It says so quite clearly. The link is in the description. Please read the rules before talking about what the rules are.

theZodiacDigital 4 weeks ago
@theZodiacDigital Yes that is what they say but then how many people purposefully block the ball with their hands? How many penalties are given for handballs every year? Plenty. Are you saying all of them are like Suarez in the world cup? Of course not. How many games have you actually people put their hands in front of the ball? Check out the Chelsea Man City Lescott penalty. Exactly the same thing as the Eto'o appeal. Not even he complains. Stop reading and go out and actually watch some games

@7osnia I have read the Laws of the Game, have you? It does not seem likely as there is nothing in it about "the hand changing the ball's direction". If there is, do tell me the page so I can look it up?
theZodiacDigital 1 month ago
@theZodiacDigital referring to the laws of the game ,An indirect free kick is also awarded to the opposing team if, in the oppinion of the referee a player :• impedes the progress of an opponent. Ballack's shot was totally hindered the progress of scoring a goal or at least possessing a threat , don't you agree?
7osnia 3 weeks ago
@7osnia you're misreading the law. it's if the player impedes the progress of an OPPONENT, not the ball. otherwise ANY block (be it with the foot, arm, body, head, whatever) would be "impeding the progress of the ball". also, notice that "impeding an opponent" leads to an INDIRECT free kick. an indirect free kick - EVEN IN THE BOX - does not give you a penalty. indirect free kicks in the box are rare but they are not penalties.
theZodiacDigital 3 weeks ago
@theZodiacDigital well the player's progress would have been accomplished if his shot had passed through , get my point ? Another thing was in p.123 , it was mentioned that "There are two sending-off offences that deal with denying an opponent
an obvious opportunity to score a goal" , this goes with michael ballak's shot and anelka's pushing the ball through pique as well ..

@7osnia no, i don't get your point. the "impeding progress" law is about using your body to stop another body, it has nothing to do with the trajectory of the ball. you're just reading it wrong.
as far as "denying an obvious opportunity" it means you get sent off if you commit a foul which denies an obvious opportunity... that just tells you the punishment. it's not the OFFENSE in itself. only if through another law you prove there was a foul, THEN that law tells you to show a red.

that bastard did everything for barca to advance in final. as a result MU missed the second cup in row.
sharkenstein1 1 month ago
@sharkenstein1 right, like send off abidal for no reason. that SURE helped barcelona a lot, right? MU lost because they were played off the park by barca in the final. ask ANY of the players or even SAF, they'll tell you. stop with the excuses.
theZodiacDigital 1 month ago
@theZodiacDigital i didn't expect such a serious and in-depth reply after my words.... yeah, i'll mail all the players and ask why MU lost that final. i know why, because messi won it.
if you still didn't understand, i expressed my anger about that accident, nothing more.
sharkenstein1 1 month ago
@sharkenstein1 it's actually quite simple, if you're to believe the ref did EVERYTHING he could to advance barca, why did he unfairly send off one of their players? that's not in depth, that's BASIC reasoning.
you don't have to mail all the MU players, because they have said so themselves in interviews already: had nothing to do with the refs, they were just played off the park.

youre an idiot my friend, eto'o put his arms over his head why? and pique outstretched his arm!!
GunZKillAV2 1 month ago
@GunZKillAV2 imagine a person running forward then abruptly turning his entire body to avoid an object being blasted straight at their faces (which actually can result in injury). often when this happens, the hands will naturally come up. do you think eto'o WANTED to move his face out of the way so it would hit his hands, or do you think he moved his face out of the way and it SO HAPPENED to hit his hands, incidentally?
theZodiacDigital 1 month ago
@theZodiacDigital I agree with almost everything but the Ballack situation had to be a penalty. Any handball that prevents the ball from going inside the goal is a penalty, intentional or not.
suspendmeassholes 1 month ago
@suspendmeassholes read the laws of the game from FIFA.com. The laws clearly state that ONLY intentional handballs can be called. whether or not it was going to be a goal or not doesn't really matter. It only matters in that IF it was intentional you have to send them off for denying a goalscoring opportunity. But if it's not intentional, it doesn't matter. Read the laws of the game, it's not long at all and it clearly says it MUST be intentional to be called.

That last one was totally penalty, he had to keep his arms to his body

Anelka tripped over his own feet. That red card was pathetic. That is why we should implement video technology. And so what if the video uploader is from USA? Why can't he be a football fan? Just because he's from the other side of the world, doesn't mean he doesn't know a thing about football.
FadzliRealtor 1 month ago
@FadzliRealtor it only matters that he's from usa because he's slamming the truth right up those anti-barça fans asses!!!

Stop making these videos. Just watch football, do not talk about it. You know nothing about this sport. Just a suggestion.

This was one of the worst match in Football history, worst referee ever, I'm just glad he was fired after that match. Anywayyyy, it's over, no point getting angry over something that happened in the past.
jarrenseewankit 2 months ago
@jarrenseewankit he wasn't fired, he actually refereed in the next season's champions league (which means he was still considered one of the top referees in the world). he has since retired from european competitions, but he's still a top level referee in norway (his place of origin),

This stupid uploader is just another bias Barcelona fan.
Wrathness1 2 months ago
@anglicantian Don't bother, he's clearly a football expert. He's about to tell you that again that it has to be deliberate And that it doesnt say that in the rule book. By his definition there should only be two handballs ever in the history of football; Maradona and Luis Suarez

Sure, but quite likely
illestlatino69 2 months ago
@illestlatino69 do you know how hard it is to chase a game down to 10 men? this season look at the premiership when a team has gone down to 10 men. that man u 8 arsenal 2. man city 6 man u 1. spurs 4 liverpool 0. being a man down can prove disastrous sometimes, and chasing a game is twice as hard.
who knows if chelsea would have been in a position to claim penalties if they werent playing on the counter against ten men? what if henry got that early penalty? all hypothetical.
theZodiacDigital 2 months ago
@theZodiacDigital Whos arguing what would have been better? There were more then 4 instances where Chelsea could have been awarded a penalty shot (like u say grey area could go either way. Except piques that was 100% handball) but in each case Barca was favored. I can understand a ref letting 1 handball because he doesnt want a penalty to decide the game. But in each of the 3 handballs that could have been called either way they were called in favor of barca.
illestlatino69 2 months ago
@theZodiacDigital Yes maybe 1 questionable grey area call could be forgiven, like if each of those incidents happend in separate games. But 3 handballs and a couple fouls inside the box, let's get real here things went barcas way there's no denying it.
illestlatino69 2 months ago
@illestlatino69 but that's not what i'm arguing about. i'm not arguing whether it's better to have 4 penalties or 1 penalty and an extra man (what barcelona could have had). i don't really want to speculate on the hypotheticals.
there are people who think that EVERY CALL should be chelsea's, and that every decision favored barce. simply not true. and that they were all black and white wrong decisions. also not true. all of which leads to a conspiracy. which is a load of crap.
theZodiacDigital 2 months ago
@illestlatino69
Piasmaffia 2 months ago
@theZodiacDigital Also your literal interpretation of the rules is idiotic because aside from Luis suarezs WC insident, there is almost never a clearly deliberate handball scenario. The ref has to determine when it should be a penalty, I have already listed in earlier posts why they were. Also the majority of people here and the commentators of the post match analysis share my opinion. Your a barca fan, so your analysis of your team fucking Chelsea over and opinion means jack shit
illestlatino69 2 months ago
@illestlatino69 "The ref has to determine when it should be a penalty," DING DING DING congratulations! You have JUST understood my point. No penalty aside from a Luis Suarez scenario is a 100% deliberate handball. Other things, like Eto'o's arm in this game, are in a gray area where yes sometimes they are given and sometimes they are not. Why? Because it is a judgement call. So talks of cheating or conspiracy are useless.
theZodiacDigital 2 months ago
@theZodiacDigital Okay so because you don't give barca the henry penalty your not biased? THERE ARE 3 CLEAR HANDBALLS THERE IN THE VIDEO. All of which you agree could have been let go.
illestlatino69 2 months ago
@illestlatino69
illestlatino69 2 months ago
@theZodiaDigital there's honestly no debate to be had here, Chelsea should have won, 3 hand balls and a penalty appeal. Your defending of the literal wording of the rules means nothing
illestlatino69 2 months ago
@theZodiacDigital That the least sense of anything you've said thus far. I call it like I see it pal, not thru my fanboy glasses. Which is exactly my point, all you barca supporters refuse to admit your team is full of diving pussies
illestlatino69 2 months ago
@illestlatino69 oh boy. you're saying i have fanboy glasses for barcelona, after i said i wouldnt give them a penalty that you, a madrid fan, would?
i'm just calling them like i see them. what makes you think i'm not, besides the fact that i so happen to not agree with you?
as far as the literal wording of the rules means nothing.... what? since when? who decides that? YOU?
FIFA has given us a set of rules that referees then have to interpret. YOUR opinion means jack shit.

@illestlatino69 You're saying Henry should be given a penalty, and in the video I said I would not give it. And I'm a Barcelona fanboy? You're a self-admitted madrid fan and you would give barcelona a penalty I would not have given them. I'm a barca fanboy?
seriously, think about it.
