I have been away from the islands for 15 years and just saw that Mackey had passed away as I was surfing the web. Oh, my gosh, I have been watching his performances on line for the past few hours. What ashame. Kalapana, was such a big part of my growing up. He was a great performer and just a beautiful person - I was only 10-ish in the 70's, but my older cousins knew him. I grew up on Kalapana and C&K and this is so sad to hear of his death and the way it happened.
