  • You can tell in this clip that Mackey had been smoking batu for a little bit. So sad, Batu is the plague of these islands. God bless Kalapana and their musical gift to Hawaii.

  • bruddah Mackey...stoned or not he was awesome and still is. he believed in the Lord Jesus Christ and the mercy of God is SOOO good to those who believe in Him. Kalapana was "awesome" !!! good post, mahalo

  • Poor Mackey, he was all cracked out in this clip. Bradduh could still hit those notes and bring out great emotions in the song. RIP to one of Hawaii greatest ever.

  • This is music. It is timeless, soo much soul, thank god for music like this. MF you will be forever be missed. Seems all the good ones gone to soon, sigh.

  • corect me if im wrong, but are there any kalapana songs included in the movie 50 1st dates?? well, they should have....

  • Found it... Acutally like some other rare gems its on one of his solo albums... good luck in your pursuit of greatness that was his music!

  • Hey Kiloilio, I love the Las Vegas Turnaround Song too Hall & Oates Version apperars to be only one I can find on the net. Also checked the recordings I could find by Kalapana and its not on any thing I could find. Sad to say this might just be a live performance only song lost in time now...

  • real bands are created before year 2000.. Kalapana is one of them.. bands nowadays just sucks!

  • Kalapana = The Best

  • Man, I love this group so much. I am so glad I got to see them live b4 Mackey passed. He was the heart & soul of this group. R.I.P. Brother

  • I have been away from the islands for 15 years and just saw that Mackey had passed away as I was surfing the web. Oh, my gosh, I have been watching his performances on line for the past few hours. What ashame. Kalapana, was such a big part of my growing up. He was a great performer and just a beautiful person - I was only 10-ish in the 70's, but my older cousins knew him. I grew up on Kalapana and C&K and this is so sad to hear of his death and the way it happened.

  • Kalapana at the Top Of Da Shoppe...Their Waikiki Shell concerts were awesome, too..."Moon and Stars" was an absolutely 'nahenahe' song...Somebody please post "All I Want" and "Las Vegas Turnaround"!

  • wonderful song! wonder if any of you guys would happen to have the tabs for this fantastic piece...

  • Mackey you are truly missed... I love your songs I wish you knew how your fans wants to hear more of you "live". Your music touched so many people's heart.

  • i love mackey feary........ :)

  • I Remember...

Top of Da Shop on Kapiolani

seeing Malani at a little bar in Hawaii-Kai before he was with Kalapana.

hearing Mackey sing "Moondance" at my friends party when we was in high school

    - wow, Mackey's pants kinda big yea?

  • Look at some of the earlier Kalapna videos on YouTube and you can see what crack/ice did to Mackey Feary. What a waste, what a beautiful voice. RIP Mackey.

  • I have been a kalapana fan since the 70'6, and it is such a tragedy that mackey past on. such talent. a voice that will never be forgoten. kalapana's music is heard even in the deep colorado mountains. when i think of hawaii, i think of Kalapana. Thanks for the memories.

  • One of the greatest groups to ever come out of Hawaii! Damn, Mackey looked like he was all cracked out. Poor bradduh. Kalapana was never the same since. Damn I miss Mackey Feary.

  • Wow! Just new to Kalapana and Mackey Feary, but I'm an instant fan! I'm sadden at hearing about Mackey's death, but his voice will be heard for generations to come. LOVE THIS MUSIC and his voice! 10+ stars!

  • i miss them...

  • mackey feary was an amazing composer/song writer.this song is truly my favorite. the song was written for mackeys friend this guy known as moon who worked @ a resturaunt in oahu as a cook who was in love with this server there named star, but moon was 2 shy to ask her out, and like a gr8t friend mackey wrote this song for them.true story! moon was a friend of mine,he resently passed away 2 cancer.but he intro. me 2 mackey before mackey died

  • That is such an awesome story! Did moon and star ever get together, even if just for a little bit?

  • to what moon told me was that she was very sweet and they got to hangout some but nothing more than that she liked him more as a friend ,all he said was atleast he made a friend for life rather a fling for a moment.moon was a man with a big heart.

  • that is truly a beautiful story. you were lucky to have met Mackey in his liftime. Do you remember when Mackey wrote this song for your friends? It's just such a sweet story!

  • That's a fantastic story...makes life even more precious each day...

    Thank you for that.

  • Happy Birthday baby brother! You'll always be right here in my heart!

  • I love this song here!

  • I can't even begin to describe how this takes me back in time. This was written so many years ago, yet here Mackey is, just like yesterday. Wish it was yesterday and he was still making music, with his own band, by himself or with Kalapana. Rest in peace Mackey and, by the way, since tomorrow is your birthday, Happy Birthday Mackey, wherever you are. Celebrate, sing, dance in the clouds and know how much you were and still are loved by so many people. Your life and music are gifts. Miss you!

  • The memories come flooding back... my tour of duty Iwakuni, Japan, 1975 ... my girl back home in the States... Mackey and the boys uplifted my spirit time and again. Rest in peace, man.

  • Great phrasing, listen how he makes the words fit so well.

  • Yes, I'm thinking of you tonight...

  • It makes me sad to know Mackey died a heartbroken man. His songs, especially this one, is so full of love and hope. It'll live on forever in my heart.

  • One of the best Hawaiian bands ever! I remember them playing at Toppe ada Shoppe. Rest in peace Bruddah Mackey...
