Wow same here (sort of). I too have thick long hair and the ceramic curling irons just straighten out my hair. I would rather stick to the old fashion Conairs or Gold Hot Tools. I am sorry but ceramic isn't for everybody. My advice, use what works for you. BTW my hair is way thicker than MACupaddict's.
i just bought this curling iron except its a 1.5" i've used it about 2 times and unfortunatly to say, my curls have been coming out weak and wimpy (my hair is long, about 1 inch past my chest, not too thick or too thin)
i dont know if i'm doing anything wrong, maybe because i just started to use it.
but i really want to love it! and so far.. i can't say i fully have):
I have found that the gold-plated Hot Tools products - as opposed to the ceramic - is better.
I have extremely thick hair and I have never, EVER been able to find a curling iron that actually gave me a curl that didn't fall out in five seconds.
Then, a hairdresser friend of mine used an HT curling iron on me and I was hooked - I have 2 curling irons and the triple-barrel waver iron and I love them all.
I suggest you try the gold-plated one, or maybe even a bit smaller curling iron.
i wanna get the curling iron! i need one so bad, but im not sure if it retails in any store here in calgary AB.? since im not sure how much shipping would cost. :S
i havee this curling iron
but in reality i havent had a chance to use it because my curls dont come out how i want them to come out =[
